I just got my admission letter for MTECH in the mail while waiting for SAQA, seems SAQA is not necessary at DUT. I should be in the republic by January 2015.

Pls what is the range of tuition fees for MTech at DUT.

Research based Master degree is free all you pay for is your accommodation and feeding but you must have a good research proposal to gain admission and be ready to write conference papers and publish in national journals.

I'm assuming you are domiciled in SA. If so, please visit http://www.vfsglobal.com/dha/southafrica as to pertinent and updated info on how to renew your Study Visa.

Since the current one expires in December, my advise is to submit your application 8 weeks before expiration.
Goodluck!

@TYPOP thanks for your tips and hints on this thread. Its been very helpful. I got my visa yesterday evening. I'll be leaving for my training on Saturday night.
I want to ask, how much should one have as BTA? I've booked my return ticket and my hotel accommodation has also been fully paid for. I'll be there for about 10 days.
how many months was given u in ur visit for ur visit to south africa
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 4:13pm On Oct 27, 2014
Babakenny:

Your $1k is enough for the month duration you'll spend here. However, this depends on whether you're lodging in an hotel or having a friend accommodating you. If the first case is ur situation, then I'll suggest you come with more money cos of hotel bills. If however, ur situation is the second scenario, then $1k is ok for you provided you have a return ticket.

Many mistakes that Nigerians make while deciding to come here is that, they really do not know that South Africa is not home to Nigerians. What I mean is that, there's high hatred for Nigerians here and no jobs at all here except if you climb the ladder of success like me via studying for your masters and then you can hope of getting a good job and making a dream living that you always wanted.

The truth is, many Nigerians are here suffering because they can't find jobs. Many of them do not have good education that can catapult them to get bursary by doing masters. So when they get here, they become stunned at what they see and they won't want to go back to Nigeria cos they've bragged to family n friends that they're traveling abroad. Meanwhile, most of them have good life in Nigeria, but on getting here, they become stucked(no way forward, and backward is impossible) so they become lay-about and often leaves via TC and that's why Nigerian embassy here usually questions them why they are here in the first place.

I made that explanation exclusively so that you don't find yourself in such situation if you only want to come here to escape Nigeria via tourist visa, my brother, I will tell you to think twice, or otherwise, if you have money, you may come here and do business or simply further your education to help you get chances of being employed here otherwise, a lot of Nigerians have ended up becoming, barbers, CD sellers etc etc.

Just my $1 advice.
Take care and goodluck with your dreams!!
wow, seriously,I'm telling u,south africa is nt an easy country,bt it takes hard work and perseverance to make it up there,u dnt tell them about nigerians carrying poster in orita just to pay only rent and feeding, being in a hot scorching sun for d whole day, seeing one client or without seeing anybody, while I was there, there was some jjc dat just come to d country, got milked out of their money frm their fellow nigerians dat ve stayed in sa,and later ended up carrying poster in orita(pretoria central)becos of sufferness, just dat I need to finish my undergraduate course there, dats why I'm going back

Hi guys,

Pls anyone in Wits University or prospective postgraduate student can help out on this.

I have tried obtaining a fee invoice from d school detailing tuition fees, course fees e.t.c all to no avail. To this end, i have sent mails to both the faculty and Int'l office after being unable to reach them on phone yet i got no response.

I intend submitting my application for study visa next week and it won't make sense if i don't pay any portion of my tuition fees & other related costs before submission.

I will appreciate your contributions.

Hello Guys,i want to apply for South African Tourist Visa, pls i want to know how many Months they will issue and pls is it Multiple Entry Visa?
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by yinksob002: 10:30am On Oct 28, 2014
SA tourist visa is normally issued for 3 months. However, you may be given a multiple or single entry visa subject to the consular's discretion.

Decisions on visitors visa to SA most times are discretionary and as such could go either way.

Best of luck

This is strange. Or maybe they don't know the estimated fees for 2015 yet? But why do you need to pay any fees? Is it a requirement for study permit application? I didn't see anything like that on the checklist. If you have all your supporting documents, go ahead and lodge your study permit application. I did mine two days ago.

Best wishes...
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by yinksob002: 11:41am On Oct 28, 2014
Thanks. I finally received the fee invoice.

However, I noticed that d school accommodation is on the high side. Can i use an alternative form of accommodation for my study permit application (i.e Off campus residence). If yes, i would like the house to help with the e-mail or contact info of any registered housing agents in Jo'burg?

Thank you.

Contact Wits international office, they should be able to provide assistance with off campus accommodation. ask them to issue a letter stating this. That's what I used for my application.

Best wishes...

.You should have apply for study permit after you got assylum within a year or 6months rather staying up to five years without temporary permit .,your visiting visa application will be treated like normal application no special treatment and moreover I pray you are not denied because no country embrace people that overstay .Assuming you have study permit or work permit for 5years by now you are sure of getting permanent residence. Assuming you are given visiting visa how do u renew when you get to SA?are u still planning to be using assylum?since you are studying in SA why not apply for study permit and save your self future stress?

Oga don't create unnecessary problem for yourself .You are not expected to pay any money until u arrive the school since the fees are not stated on admission letter .Please provide all the documents stated in the letter and apply to the embassy for your permit.

I would advise you to provide whatever document/slip that is required and make the necessary payment. Just comply with whatever you are asked to do or provide and see how it goes.

Just keep faith and all will be fine.

Best of luck
