When Keshi chose not to call him into his World Cup squad Obagoal was quoted as saying: "I'll play my own World Cup with the Seattle Sounders."

It now appears that is exactly what he has done.

Obafemi Martins lifted his 2nd trophy of the season yesterday in front of nearly 60,000 when his Seattle Sounders football club won the MLS Supporter's Shield which is given to the team with the best record.

Seattle finished the regular season with 64 points. They had been tied with the LA Galaxy until the final day of the season when they faced off against the Los Angeles team for the 2nd time in two weeks.

Martins assisted Seattle's first goal in their 2-0 win over LA Galaxy which brought the Seattle club it's first piece of MLS silverware.

Earlier this season Martins lifted the 101 year old US Open Cup Trophy. the US Open Cup is the American equivalent of the FA Cup and has been played continuously since 1913.

As a result of his accomplishments this year with Seattle. Martins is widely thought to soon win the MLS Most Valuable Player award. Only LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane is a serious contender but it was widely thought whichever man's team won the Supporter's Shield would determine the MVP winner.

Martins and Seattle are not finished yet. They have their eyes on a historic treble by getting through the playoffs and winning the MLS Cup (no MLS team has ever won all three trophies in one season).

Whether he has been in Italy, England or the USA Martins has brought home trophies for the clubs he played for.

In Seattle they have rewarded him with new multi-million dollar contract

And Keshi said this guy is too old for the super eagles.martins is enjoying his soccer career @ d moment and will definately play for super eagles now under Shuaibu while keshi is jobless and desperate to get a job again.What a world we live in.
