not really too early. just that he will have super sized broiler of nothing less than 3kg or 4kg if he feed them well
my major concern is the market
Re: Broilers Chicken by aAK1(m): 6:41pm On Aug 27, 2014
My thoughts exactly. People won't pay for what it's worth. The birds I will sell for big Salah are still 4 weeks old and I will still stock for Christmas after Salah.

well u are going to have a great deal of work ahead? Since u are targeting xmas- there will be market for them as by then buyers will be keen by body carcass weight and thats y at xmas pple will b weighing with dia hands for example like; oh my God this one get weight that one get weight comments will be swaying d air so i hope u are already keeping records of every penny spent n of d expenses to come? Well, as from 3weeks they will start consuming like hell. So it is advisable to get enough bags ahead n in store perhaps d ones that fall within 3month expirations date. 100broilers will consume 2bags per week- by my calculations: 300 broilers will consume 6bags per week- so for d next 4weeks the 300 white 'spartans' will have consumed; 6 X 4weeks= 24bags: so lets say assume 28-29bags of feeds will rear them from a-day old to 7weeks-old if the feeding is right; u can get pass 1.6-1.9kg at 7weeks: wat is size of ur pen house n hw is their brooding going?u can start marketing them business wise. And If u starve them for one reason or d other they will reduce in body weight so badly in such a way they will hav to consume alot to regain it again- what is ur vaccination/drugs plans for the birds? I jst sent u an email request? U can reach me for free materials & info via d other means:

One thing about marketing ur broilers is that u can start now- creating markets for them by ads- word of mouth, at d open market- and where u know poultry products are consumed n used for businesses. Build n pile ur client and contact lists; reminding them of when to start expecting the stock via sms/call: and telling them when d broilers will be ready for sale- u can start selling from dia 7th week? D mistake pple do is that they wont start creating markets for them now that d birds are still growing: it is when d birds have reached slaughtering stage they will start going round and about looking for clients over night- no matter, what do not sell for credits. Building ur contact lists is important n necessary:

soo following this calculation, how many grams of feed should a bird eat per day. I'm afraid I am over feeding.

As per marketing, I don't know how ur area is bt my area here in Enugu is well under serviced. I breed 100 set of broilers every 50 days weighing 1.7 - 1.9 kg and the market is always ready. I supply to big restaurants and meat shops. The sales is by weight. I sell 1kg for N680, the head and leg for N50 and the gizzards for N800/kg.

At divine mercy, if u are making 0.3kg at 4weeks its a mess. I make 0.6kg in 17 days. I formulate my rations and its wonderful. Any who needs can reach me for directives, its free. Lets reason together and grow.

the more they eat the more they get bigger

I don't totally agree with that. Feed Conversion ratio is what I think you should put into consideration. Broilers will eat as long as food is available and this doesn't necessarily translate to body mass.

I dont use finished feed such as vital or top feed. I formulate what I give them and its working for me. The batch I have now hit 0.5kg today at two weeks.

formulating your own feed can reduce your cost of production. because, feed account for about 75% of the cost of your producing broilers.if you are interested in getting a valid formula for your birds, you can reach me on 07035706875 (please note that terms and condition applies)....you can also get more information on starting your own poultry farm on my blog www.petrosnow. ......life responds to the choice you make.
