You have to specify what kind of fault you need fixed in.your CRV to determine if you will need a rewire, mechanic or panel beater. |

While in motion, the rate at which it changes gear is unusual. It is an automatic transmission, and i expect a smooth transmission, but it sometimes jerk. I was advised to change the gear sensor or something. The crv is a 98 model crv, it consumes more fuel than usual. I spend 1500 from berger to ikoyi and return. I term that to be expensive. The salincer (please correct my spelling), i mean the exhaust anyway, it makes a very weird noise, and it is not leaking. I recently gave a panel beater that worked some stuffs inside, but it makes so much noise now. Initially it wasn't. The steering keeps steering to the right in motion, i really don't know why. I am sure it has nothing to do with alignment or balancing. I recently gave a mechanic to check the two front tires if they were ok, and he padded it up with some round black rubbers. Now if i am making a U-turn, the tires drag a lot. |

kart042000:the transmission start with simple thing scan the car and also change the transmission oil steering to the right all you need is that to be aligned aka wheel alignment what do you mean you gave a mechanic to check if the front tyres where OK are you a blind driver that can not see that the tyres are worn out ? then on the exhaust am lost you say it makes a lot of noise but there is no leak, is the noise a metal to metal one or sound from the exhaust? a simple check if the exhaust is not leaking is closing the exhaust end with your hand and if there is a leaking you hear hear the pressure leaking the on fuel consumption is it something you have observed or something you have told or comparing with a friend's car? |
| Re: Good Mechanic Of Honda At Oyigbo. Any Known Please??? by kart042000(op): 11:29pm On Oct 28, 2014 |
ZIMDRILL:For the transmission, the gear oil has been changed, as well as the gear sensors cleaned. When i said front tyres, i didnt mean the tyres in itself but the front wheels, my tyres are new, I hope you understand better now. The exhaust, the noise comes from the filter, inside. There are no leakages. For the fuel consumption, just used my initiatives to assume. And please i need you to recommend a good mechanic at oyigbo. Thank you |

ayampissed:Ok thanks, i sure will put a call across to him, but i counting on your words that he knows the job. I know a street mech at oyigbo too, but not too sure of his hands on, i dont want someone to do try and error, and then i have to be paying for the mechanics mistake. |

kart042000:when the transmission oil was changed was the car having the problem already ? why were the sensors getting cleaned ? on the wheels go for wheel aligment as for fuel consumption an exhaust leak will affect fuel consumption |
| Re: Good Mechanic Of Honda At Oyigbo. Any Known Please??? by kart042000(op): 9:27pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
ZIMDRILL:The transmission oil was changed because of the jerking whilst switching between gears. Or early movement jerking. I recently changed the engine sit, that was what i was told before that it was broken. For the front wheels it vibrates the steering on motion and gradually drifts to the right |

@ayampissed, i did call the man on thursday, and on friday when i got to oyigbo, i called him and he didnt pick. I actually knew a mechanic at oyigbo by the name Jeje, i was just a little skeptical about him fixing the car, but i took my chances with him yesterday, He did an awesome job They changed the gear switch sensors, and changed the gear oil to ATF gear oil. The wheels, the upper arm just by the shock absorber, a little knob where replaced, i no longer feel the drag while turning as well as the gear jacking. I was advised to go for wheel alignment and balancing. The exhaust was changed, i mean the pot. The noise has stopped and the car even revs better now. |

kart042000:Can't say why my guy refused to pick your calls but he is very good at his job. Sometimes, things these guys(mechanics) do just make one feel really insecure using them but again what can we do but try to patronize them because we believe they can do it. Anyway, am glad to hear your car is fixed, quite a bit done on the car i'd say. kudos to your mechanic and drive safe mann ![]() |

Pls I need help on my 2003 Acura tsx, the issue on it is that the rpm is bellow 1 and when I put on the ac it will be vibrating and when I load the car to drive or reverse the vibration will be worse and sometimes the car will just off my rewire has scanned it and check possible issue to an extent of changing the engine and still the problem persists and they have scanned it and it shows no error code, pls any help |

lekcyhannah:Good morning sir, Your complaint is well received. Next time, kindly include the full vehicle details (engine type, mileage, transmission), although the 2003 Acura TSX typically comes with the 2.4L K24 engine, which is very sensitive to idle control and vacuum balance. Let’s go over your symptoms in a proper diagnostic format 👇 ⸻ 🔧 Complaint Summary • RPM is below 1,000 (low idle) • When AC is ON → vibration • When shifting into Drive/Reverse → vibration worsens • Sometimes the engine goes OFF • Mechanic already changed engine, yet problem persists • No error codes detected on scan ⸻ 🧠 Technical Breakdown Your symptoms point to a classic idle control failure, not an engine failure. The fact that a whole engine was changed and the problem remained exactly the same confirms it: The problem is not the engine — it is the components and systems around the engine. Let’s break down the real possible causes. ⸻ 1️⃣ Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve Not Functioning Properly The Acura TSX relies heavily on the IAC valve to maintain: • Correct idle • AC idle compensation • Gear-load idle stability When the IAC is weak or stuck: • Idle drops • Car vibrates when AC is ON • Car shakes in Drive • Car may go OFF • Scan shows NO code (very common on Honda/Acura) This is one of the top suspects. ⸻ 2️⃣ Vacuum Leak on Intake Manifold or Hoses If air is escaping or extra air is entering, the ECU cannot stabilize idle. Symptoms: • Low RPM • Vibration • Car goes off when loaded • No error codes Very common after engine change because hoses may not be properly seated. ⸻ 3️⃣ Faulty or Dirty Throttle Body (Not Reprogrammed After Cleaning) If the throttle body is: • Dirty • Misaligned • Not calibrated after cleaning The idle becomes unstable, especially with AC load. Honda/Acura engines require throttle relearn anytime throttle body is touched. ⸻ 4️⃣ Weak Engine Mounts If one or more engine mounts are weak, the engine itself vibrates excessively at low idle. This makes the vibration much worse in Drive or Reverse. ⸻ 5️⃣ AC Compressor Over-Loading Engine If your AC compressor is partly seized or drawing excess power: • Idle drops • Engine vibrates heavily • Car may go OFF This is a very common TSX issue. ⸻ 6️⃣ Dirty or Faulty MAF / MAP Sensor If the sensor is under-reading airflow: • ECU reduces fuel • Idle becomes very low • No code shows • AC ON makes vibration worse ⸻ 7️⃣ Grounding (Earth) Problem After Engine Change If the main engine grounds are weak or not tightly reconnected: • Idle becomes unstable • ECU cannot stabilize IAC valve • Sensors misread • Vibration increases with load Most rewires ignore ground points. ⸻ 8️⃣ Bad Alternator Output (Low Voltage at Idle) When alternator voltage is low: • Idle drops • AC load kills engine • Vibration becomes severe • No error codes Very common on older Honda/Acura systems. ⸻ 🔧 Recommended Diagnostic Steps 1. Perform full intake leak test • Check all vacuum hoses • Check PCV system • Check intake manifold gasket 2. Inspect and test Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) • Clean it • Confirm valve opens under AC load 3. Clean and perform throttle body relearn Acura requires special procedure (or Autel scanner) for proper idle resetting. 4. Check engine mounts Focus on: • Front mount • Transmission mount • Rear torque mount 5. Check AC compressor drag If compressor locks intermittently → engine goes OFF. 6. Check alternator voltage at idle Should be 13.6–14.2V with AC ON. If lower → vibration and low idle. 7. Reconnect and clean all engine grounds This alone has fixed several TSX idle cases. ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop Professional Take We’ve fixed this exact TSX complaint many times, and the pattern is always the same: • No error codes • Engine vibrates at idle • Worse with AC ON • Worse in Drive/Reverse • Low idle speed • Mechanic has already “changed engine” or “changed many parts” In 90% of the cases, the real cause was: 1️⃣ Stuck/weak IAC valve 2️⃣ Vacuum leak 3️⃣ Poor throttle body calibration after cleaning 4️⃣ Weak engine mounts 5️⃣ AC compressor overloading engine Once the real issue is corrected and idle is properly relearned, the vibration disappears instantly and the TSX idles smoothly — even with AC ON and gear engaged. ⸻ ✅ Professional Summary Your TSX issue is not engine-related. The problem is idle control, vacuum balance, or load compensation. This is 100% a diagnostic problem — not an “engine has issue” problem. A proper vacuum test + IAC inspection + throttle relearn will reveal the exact fault.
