So have your readings taken you to the etymology of Nigerian pidgin English. I do know a thing or two about Afrikaans-its history that is. History way was my major by the way.

Dude, I've been looking for a book on Pidgin but we don't have it in our holdings. I checked our catalog already. I work in a small suburbian library though, so I've been thinking of going the inter-library loan route & see if the inner city library has anything on Pidgin. I'll look into it tomorrow if I don't forget cheesy

I'm only smart WHERE it counts ie. studies. There's no need for me to be smart discussing a tv show for goodness' sake.

Oh & I crack me up too.

Try as hard as you will, but you will never succeed trying to break me down. I know what my capabilities are & noone can tell me otherwise. Nice try.

You don't look like a well read person to me. You are far from being smart if you look closely at what you have written so far on this particular thread with petulance.

Ah! At least, I can make you laugh in a sad way. Take it from me any day, I can make you laugh as much as you want but it is not going to change the fact you are so full of yourself.

I am not trying to pull you down but your remarks and posts do. Your over-exaggerated capabilities are still something of a sixth grader to me. Bwahaha....

Who do you want him to discuss mind matters with when he is obviously surrounded by doo doo brains?

Let the guy gossip if that makes him retain some sanity in that house of dingbats.
hahaha, if he doesn't know the difference between Piers Morgan and Pierce Brosnan then he's just as much a doo doo brain as the others.

On that lovely Sunday afternoon, not a care was given about a stranger's opinion of me.

You don't pay my salary & if the municipality I work for fully acknowledges my skills, then your opinion is just like an a.rsehole to me...we all have one. Nothing special or earth shattering. Anything else you wanna waste my precious time on? Make it quick because you're starting to bore me.

Hahaha... I am beginning to see your flimsy excuse clearly. It is nothing more than a charming notion to look like what you are not. Like an impostor would do in a tight situation. You don't have to preach about your work as your posts speak volumes of who you really are. People usually say, action speaks louder than words.

I just wanted to quickly say again that you are full of yourself.

Like, are you for real? Is Piers Brosnan/Morgan now a field of study? Should every mortal know who that is? Not everyone is into the Hollywood mumbo jumbo. So who cares if he doesn't know an actor's name if his profession is not a movie reviewer or whatever crap that requires you to know who's who in Tinseltown? SMDH.

As for the rest, I still get paid regardless of what you think you've figured out about me. I've got a diploma that the govt have verified & copied. So yeah, keep believing the voices in your head or take medication to shush them up.

The problem you may encounter in your research is that pidgin English is so colourful that you find variations from place to place. The only constant is that it is dominated by the English language which as you must have noticed is corrupted. Then you find words from other languages such as Portuguese (which is the case with Nigerian pidgin)French and other local languages. It is not a language that is taught in schools here so you won't find books on it. Jamaican patois, Sierra leonian krio(creole) are still pidgin English.Ghanaians speak a pidgin that's closest to ours. The Fijians have it as their official language so they will have books ,but that's not gonna help you with any west African pidgin.

I'll try the bookstores if all else fails. The travel section usually has books teaching slangs & whatnot of every destination.

Just visit nigeria nd stay in a place called Warri for 1month. I bet you won't need any book for pidgin. The best pidgin is spoken there

However, let me tell you this, some people in here make it very hard for someone who isn't Nigerian to feel fully welcomed or whatever. The constant nagging & clucking about why you're in a Nigerian forum bla bla bla is very off-putting. Makes you wonder if the owner of the site is aware that people get this much needling when he is the one that allows us to register here. It really wears on one's patience to be honest. But for now, this place has become an addiction of sorts for me. I'll get over it soon enough I know.

Bwahaha... That is not a good thing to write when you start exaggerating things about yourself here. Possibly, you don't have much idea of what it means to be full of oneself.

Only in South Africa dumb people are paid what they are not worth. That is not something to be proud of. I heard most Township dwellers in that country live on food stamps and other benefits.

Just accept it that you are not who you claim to be. Your puffy ego has been deflated, lady.

well next time he shouldn't make fun of people he isn't better than. That's what immature people do. I reiterate that Nhlanhla is no intellectual, he has failed to bring up an intellectual conversation not because other housemates are too dumb to keep up, but because he's spent the past 4 weeks stuffing food in his mouth, hence he can't even talk to start with. The one time he had to show how smart he was, he kept making stewpid comments like "I'll stash because my people died for this food", this said with a mouthful of the food Mzansi people died for of course grin

My puffy ego has been deflated? In your dreams, sonny!

Corrections, S.A has NO food stamps. Benefits, yeah. But tell me, what's wrong about a country taking care of its citizens? Last time I checked, Britain, the US etc were doing it too. The US even take it one step further by giving away free KFC coupons & free phones to its citizens. Yet you have the nerve to come here foaming nonsense about a country that's none of your concern. Mind your own fvcking business.

Sometimes like now it pays to hit the ignore button. Some people just get hard-ons trolling and fighting it here. Don't always oblige them , it keeps them here longer than necessary .
