No doubt Governor Rotimi Amaechi is the Rivers helmsman and leader of the ruling party in the state, The All Progressive Congress but the mammoth crowd that greeted the recently concluded APC rally hosted by the governor in the state is not replicative of the charged political atmosphere in the state. After the rally, it seem the party returned to their "billboard" and nothing is happening to suggest that the party really exists or they are the ruling party in the state. Driving around the oil city of port Harcourt, one is usually besieged by the numerous political offices opened by PDP politicians and their agents to serve as their electioneering campaign headquarters. In the run up to the gubernatorial elections, 16 candidates already in the opposition PDP has picked forms to contest the elections while none has indicated interest in the APC. These PDP politicians billboards are planted at strategic locations within and around the state. Posters, Banners and fliers of PDP aspirants litters everywhere in the state. There is no single APC candidate poster, billboard, office, or any electioneering materials one could find across the state except the local council chairmen displaying Amaechi head in a banner in their respective council headquarters. Even the APC office is non existent. With the charged political atmosphere that ravages the state and the PDP politicians being the dominant participants, I just wonder how APC could win Rivers. Is Amaechi doing the national leadership of APC "the more you look the less you see" with APC in Rivers state? |

You might want to see this www.nairaland.com/1978846/crisis-rivers-state-pdps-congress#1978846.3 APC's secretariat is located at old GRA close to the police officers mess. I'm sure if you take a drive round Rivers State, you'll notice other ward & LGA offices. APC members are simply waiting for PDP to finish their jonsing (by giving Wike their ticket either through his oppressive lobbying or using the powers from above) before they file out theirs. Remember politics is a game that involves lots of calculations. APC are simply playing the game well. Wike is just in a hurry to clinch the party ticket. Too bad so many of my people are on both sides (PDP/APC) |

worthytalk:if you defect, your past record is wiped clean. For someone like Amaechi, once defect from PDP to APC, his count will change to zero. he is now a new politician. progressive. He can run for a first term as APC governor. check the subsections of the constitution. |

Why are u people taking medicine for another man's illness? APC is on course and fully on ground in Rivers state. For billboards, PDP have their paid agents who go about at nite to destroy APC billboard in the State. That outside, APC are keenly watching the current events and division in Rivers state PDP. At the right time, Rivers people will see who APC will throw up. We are watching keenly because no room for mistakes. Governor Amaechi is a real strategist no wonder the combination of GEJ, PEJ, Mbu, Wike, Evans Bipi, could not defeat or oust him from office b4 the expiration of his tenure in office. |

I would want to believe the APC under Amaechi may just be strategizing; afterall no matter the number of candidates jostling as the representative of pdp, only one will emerge. You never can tell what those who may have lost the primaries will do. Most Nigerian politicians are not known to accept election defeat easily. The number of candidates under pdp contending for their different governorship primaries for each State could be their greatest undoing if the after effect of the primaries are not handled well by the executive of the party. |
