Whatsapp 1st rule was to not interfer with users privacy.
What's the need for this read notification if their first invention was to add the last seen privacy?
It makes no sense.
I have moved to #Telegram already. Free for life and concern about user privacy.

false.. when it shows a single mark it means the message has been sent but not delivered.. double mark means the message has been delivered but that doesn't mean the person has read it, this is where the blue colour comes in.. if the double mark is blue it means the message has been read...

There is a way out, just have whatsapp widget on your home screen(android devices), when you have a new message you will read it from the widget without opening the actual app thereby not showing the message as being read at the sender's end.
