I filled m tank on Tuesday... And bought like 20litres of fuel for the Generator and kept it on one side of d garage..

After like 2days of using the fuel in my car.. I felt I should top up the fuel in my car since I have not poured the fuel to the generator...

I just saw a gallon that looked so much like the fuel Jerry ... And I started pouring b4 I realised.. It was Kero and my fuel jerry can was still sitting where I left it..

Now, this is the Senario... I still have Full tank.. But just wanted to top my Car tank.. Then I added like 3-4litres of Kero to my car.. Will it have any effect on my car or engine??

Online reviews say.. There won't be any problems cuz the Octane level in kero is low.. and it can still run d car unhindered..
Some say if ur tank is low... Fill it up with fuel and Cleaner and am good to go...

Some think I should drain d whole tank and remove the kero...

So my people... What do u think?

Keep topping with fuel on every short trip till you can accumulatively attain about 50liters. Car should run fine.

Don't bother draining just a waste of time.

Get your gas tank drained. And next time you're making a query, it would help if you gave details of your car:

Make.
Model.
Engine size.
Model year.

Some vehicles / engines are less tolerant to contaminated fuel than others. Kerosene may well be zero octane, this is actually a negative. It is also non-volatile, meaning it will clog up your injectors, and the engine may not run. At best it may run rough, and smoke a lot too.

Unless you're lazy, or there's something you're not telling us, common sense would suggest you have the tank drained, rather than pull that messy cocktail through your fuel system.

Good luck.

Time is all this guy should have. Don't forget Lambda Sond's and Catalytic Converters don't like oil, which is what kerosene is. The car could end up with a CEL.

Rectification doesn't come cheap, and is more time consuming that draining the tank, which may well have to be done anyway, in addition to dealing with the aftermath.

Correct!
BUT depending on the type of car. My kia rio left the factory without any catalyst or oxygen sensor so OP what vehicle do u use?

Sienna, please help with the below:
Well, my scanner arrived today and i scanned the car. Got the following error codes;
P0401
P2803: P2803 - Transmission Range Sensor 'B' Circuit High. Not much i can find online for this. Could it be that when the transmission fluid drain was carried out, the mechanic didnt fix the sensor back properly?
(Read more: http://engine-codes.com/p2803.html#ixzz3HC4o5xGA)
C1203
C1403
C1600

Im doing my research already, and found the P0401 is an error code associated with the EGR valve. Will attempt to clean it up today.
Any help with these codes will be appreciated.

I opened a thread for this earlier but didn't really get any useful info (https://www.nairaland.com/1964693/toyota-camry-2007-v6-se) and the transmission seems to be worse than it was before I did the transmission fluid change. it is still flaring, but worse now, as even when the car is warm, I still have the flare on the 3rd n 4th gear. The transmission was really smooth before this, but now feels a like it jolts a little when it engages. Before the transmission fluid drain n refill, I didn't get the error code P2803, but now I have it, please help!!!!!

Do we know the quality of fuel we even get from some filling stations? Considering the petrol to kerosene mix ratio, I don't think there will be any catastrophic side effects.
Depending on how cautious & financially buoyant you are, you can risk it or just drain the fuel for your generator(s) & buy clean fuel for your car.

*You should be more careful in the future. You could just have easily poured petrol in your stove. undecided

let me assume u buy furl @N100.
let me assume ur tank ia 70litres.
let me assume u av a full tank.
.
70litres × N100 = N7000 worth of fuel.
.
pls dont imagine d effect of saving N7000 @d expense of ur engine.

Re: Petrol Mixed With Kerosene! by AutosBay(m): 10:42pm On Nov 06, 2014
Yes, you can mix kerosine with diesel or gasoline. They are all hydrocarbons, therefore they are all miscible with each other.
But mixing kerosine with gasoline at more than 5% will lead to a poorer burning fuel that will not burn as easily or as quickly in a petrol engine. You will also, most likely, suffer thinning (viscosity loss) of your engine oil over time as the unburnt kerosine becomes entrained in the oil. You may suffer "pinging" ("knock") if your effective octane falls.

Thanks so much 4 ur Contribution...
But I didn't understand d pinging n d knocking part...
