Nigeria is in a hostage situation and the sooner we rescue her the better for the collective well being of the nation and the citizenry.

We need to kick the PDP out next year. The 16years of rot is enough.

Have anyone noticed how immediately Gej lead the other W/A presidents to mediate on the Burkinafaso crisis, which came fruitful, the foreign medias has increased the tempo at hateful propagandas against Gej led Government aimed at maligning his 2015 ambition and cause ethno religios crisis.

Please lets not fall for this becaus the sponsors are in for the balkanization of Nigeria for their selfish purposes.

APShits would not even be intelligent enough to realize that most of the roads picture there are Lagos State roads.

Is GEJ now coming to fix Lagos roads?

Go to Akwa Ibom and see how PDP government is building quality roads.

GEJ Till 2019

Guess you expect a Fashola to continue to spend his shortchanged federal allocation to build Federal roads in lagos that all the ones he has fixed has not been paid for over 4 years and yet he should continue.

The billions the FG makes daily from the Apapa Ports should make any thinking and reasonable Government ensure that it source of revenue is well maintained and functional.

No state government will continue to waste it funds when the FG is selective and partisan in repaying money spent on fixing it abandoned roads.

GEJ didn't lead the team he was just a comealong like the Senegalese president. The leader of the team was John Mahama of Ghana, the ECOWAS head. Stop this your overpraising of your clueless president.

Which president in other climes leaves his home with terrorist capturing territories never imagined in our nation history, yet he can afford to go help another country seek peace and political transition.

This is a combined failure by our political class. By this I mean all our leaders from state level to federal level, and not just from this era but also from previous era!

To pretend it's GEJ's alone is simply living in denial.

Fashola and Tinubu also have responsibility here!

You can't praise APC/Fashola for all that is right about Lagos and then turn around to blame GEJ when it is bad news!

That's just double standards!

Oga, fret not. Most people have come to realise that double standards = APC standards.

Just a current example, Tambuwal leaves PDP for APC and becomes a born-to-gain progreTHIEF saint. shocked Amosun's deputy governor leaves APC for SDP and he becomes a born againST demon shocked

The shame of a country.

Unlike some people here, I am not here to play partisan politics. I am a Nigerian who just wants this country to work.

I am compiling a list of roads in this country with details such as the tier of government responsible for construction and maintenance, year of construction, amount allocated for maintenance and construction in federal and state budgets, amount actually expended at the end of the fiscal year etc. I want to urge anyone who has access to this kind of information to collate it and publish it here. This is the only way we can counter the creatures here on this thread who are excusing failure and criminal incompetence.

Nigerians need answers to certain questions:

What was the budget for road construction (at federal and state level) last year? the year before last? and the year before?

What was actually expended at the end of the fiscal year (can we all see why post-budget reviews are carried out in serious countries?) angry

How do we compare with other countries in road construction and maintenance?

Is the federal government owing any states for road construction/maintenance and has refused to pay up? Is any state owing the federal government (or other states) for road construction/maintenance and it has refused to pay up? Why? angry

Roads have been around since Roman times. And yet every year, 21st century Nigeria routinely kills its most productive population segment on the slaughter slabs it calls roads. angry

I can't wait for February 14 next year (Deo Volente). I can't wait. angry

My brother this government won't know what hit them by february next year. They think it will be business as usual they will see a rude shock.

How can you come to power through popular demand and goodwill and squander that woefully without anything tangible to show for it yet you think you must continue.

Change is here and it is within our reach.

Nothing will deny our march to freedom from the grips of the PDP by May 29 2015

So in your swagger-ful smartness ALL roads in Nigeria are the responsibility of the federal administration. Attached is the % road distribution with the federal government having same as states while 774 LGAs that are 101% controlled by state governors are responsible for the greatest number of kilometres.

I can't fully blame fashola cos what I heard is that the apapa road is owned by the federal government so the lagos state gov can only collabo with the fed to do it. But to think of it. this bad road has witnessed people Turn to millionaires and transactions are done on it on a daily basis. Running into millions of dollars.. Why is the revenue being generated not being reflected on it That road is one of the major problems when it comes to doing logistics and haulage biz. The govt is really responsible and corrupt

Explain this, a father builds a house, his son spends time and money (money gotten from his father ooo) to keep his room clean. When asked about their dirty compound, the son replies; that is not My concern, my father should repair it." As if bad roads are only for the federal, visit major areas in lagos and you'll spit on those eye glasses men (fashola and tinubu). God help this country.

Show me a state road within the purview of any state governor that is worst than the apapa oshodi federal highway, ikorodu-sagamu fed. Highway, umuahia-ikotekpene, kwara-niger federal highway, aba-ikotekpene, uyo-calabar, onitsha -enugu, umuahia-enugu, owerri-portharcourt.

Some fellows here have turned this thread into a mud fight. In their usual manner. angry

They have done so because they have no answer to the question that has been put to them: Why are Nigerian roads so bad?

The PDP has been in power at the federal level for over a decade. Federal roads remain an eyesore. And people honestly expect that the PDP will not be held accountable? angry The ACN (now APC) has been in power at the state level in Lagos for the same length of time and Lagos roads are still an eyesore. And people honestly expect that the ACN (now APC) will not be held accountable? angry

The questions I want answers to now are: is the federal government owing any state for road construction/maintenance and has refused to pay up? Is Lagos state owing any other state (or the FG) for road construction/maintenance and yet has refused to pay up? The answer to this will determine my next move.

I and my family will be waiting for you all at the polling booth come February 14 next year, Deo Volente. angry

Good. We are getting somewhere. The facts are beginning to come out.

The only problem I have with your data is that it does not state which roads are bad. Are they federal, state or LG? The story is not complete until this information is provided! The chart simply provides room for the deflection and reassignment of blame/responsibility that defines this thread.

Nigerians want to know who is responsible for the 65 percent of Nigerian roads that are in a poor or bad state. Is it the FG, states or LGs? Or a combination of all three? And in what proportion?

A combination of all three.
Proportion is based on where you are hence the usefulness of the # forum that is the subject of this thread.

FERMA and FRSC did not do a thorough job. I repeat: they did not do a thorough job.

The data is only partially useful in that it does not allow us to assign blame or responsibility to parties that deserve it. As it is, we do not know which tier of government to hold accountable. Or was that a deliberate action on the part of those who put the data together? angry

Same politics was being played with the Bar Beach encroachment. It almost wiped off Ahmadu Bello road that year. Lets call a spade a spade. Did anyone noticed how Lagos State government responded to Ebola? With Visits to places of interests and the immediate postponement of resumption.

The Fed Govt for me just took a cue from LASG response. For that I really commended Fashola. I noticed his response b4 the fed govt became involved.

This brings me to the swift response of the Fed Govt to the seized US$15m. They only respond and urgently to matters that affects their stomach infrastructure. What about Boko Haram? A whole CDS house was razed and occupied by Boko Haram. I heard he sent Helicopter to evacuate his family. He does not even have fate in his Army.

GEJ actually ballooned it to N10bn not N50bn. He buckled under public outcry that the sum would be proud. That was his very first proclamation on probe. There never was a result! Few weeks later, approval was granted for the purchase of 3 jets for the presidential fleet. 2 Falcons and 1 Gulfstream V.

The state government deliberately left the Apapa-Oshodi highway because the FG had refused to pay it all the backlog of roads it fixed on its own. The ikorodu road and others.

The fact that Apapa port generate billions daily into the federation account should warrant the federal government to fix it. There is no road like this anywhere in Abuja.
