Walahi, this is annoying excuse. A state like ogun is constructing a monorail why not a great city like Enugu.

I hope you know what Enugu was like when the idea of building a mono rail was conceived. Road was non existent, and if Sullivan had proceeded with the project, I can assure you that we will not be on this thread today. Enugu gets just 3 billion naira monthly allocation and embarking on a project would that gulp hundreds of billions of naira would have been an exercise in futility and a misplaced priority. Please, has the River State governor completed their own. Don't forget that Peter Obi also wanted to build mono rail in Anambra State but also shelved the idea. Aside the cost, mono rail is not as efficient as it appears. Please make a little research on it.

My brother, i was happy when I learnt the project was suspended.

These people are not serious! Almost 5 years since the idea was first mooted, and we're yet to see a single home being built!

I think Spyder can ask some of his new clients to buy some plots there for him to construct their new homes! At least that may help kick-start things and get the ball rolling!

I'm not impressed with all this time wasting! sad

I am just trying to wrap my head around the part where you said there was no roads existing in Enugu as at that time? cheesy Because even as late as the early nineties, I was cruising on Enugu roads with my hand made car, my "boress" grin

This is what happens when you embark on too many projects with little available resources. Now that politics is taking all the money, I doubt if anything is gonna come out of it soon. I wish they can at least tar the road that leads to the city for a starter. If they can also maintain a serious security presence there, it will encourage people to start moving there. Rome was not built in a day. Trans Ekulu took decades to be what it is today.

Bros I lived at Rangers Avenue for 9 years. I left Enugu, soon after Sullivan took over office. Please tell me a single road devoid of pot holes in the whole of Enugu metropolis prior to 2007 with the exception of the dualized Chime Avenue and Ebeano tunnel bypass, and I will tell you about 15 roads that were pot hole ridden then.

I argue with facts and when i don't have any, I keep quiet.

^^^Nice!

That first pic is what i'd like to see more of. I understand the building in the second pic is going to be their office/sales center......if it's located near the main entrance them i'm probably right!

I think the Centenary city promoters have not done a good job publicizing how to own a home there. Part of my proposed visit to Enugu is specifically to find the organizers and inquire how to participate.

I have been itching to buy a home in this centenary city, but i don't even know where to obtain the forms, which banks to pay into, what each building type cost and so on. I am sure many people are the same way because my younger sister in USA, had severally asked me to find out how to own a home in the centenary city so that she and her husband can invest. People outside Enugu just have no clue on how to participate.

I was once invited there around 2013 to come see the place and give it some publicity, but never had the time. I will dig up the numbers again and make some inquiries on how you can participate, I am also looking to get some building contracts there for interested people.

The whole place is looking up, one or two good houses plus a good road network will push this place up. I will ask them for their plans. I need to meet an official of this estate soon.

^^^Don't mind them! Maybe they're waiting for state gov't money!

I suggested up to three years ago that they need to aggressively promote and advertise this project abroad! Igbos in diaspora -once they believe in the project- can easily buy up all the plots, and there wouldn't be any need to ask the state gov't for funds! I said at the time that the state gov't also needed to do more to sell the project to investors......which they haven't done!

They need an enthusiastic, recognisable and trusted face (like the Governor or a technocrat in the mould of Soludo or Nnaji) to sell the idea to Ndigbo in diaspora (major cities like London, New York, Atlanta and Dubai should be targeted) and create a buzz around the whole project which seems to have fizzled out!

Absolutely right! Anyone that missed this opportunity at this early stage cannot afford even a kitchen here very soon.
When all Abuja politicians and other money bags will buy up the entire estate as their homes or rental property.
I tell you that it will get to a stage that initial down payment here will be N200-300 million naira. And it won't be very long.

I said exactly the same thing in the mid 1990s when a friend offered to help us acquire a strategic plot of land in Eti-Osa LGA around Lagos- Epe expressway for about N300,000 naira. My brother bluntly refused that we should invest and questioned when development will ever reach there. Today, the whole area is referred to as Lekki pennisula and some of those that bought land in our yard have since sold the land at fantastic profit and used the money to build mansions in Lagos! Today, only politicians or well connected business men can even dream about buying well positioned land in Lekki.I won't let the same mistake happen again in my life time.

You are right bro, I just kept rationalizing it, and these are my reasons....

1. Enugu city as we know it is filled up, even hemmed in by hills on the western part, it cannot expand further that way

2. This centenary city is very close to the heart of Enugu city, on the other arm of the express right across to Independence layout.

3. Due to the type of modern structures that is going to spring up from this place, people will start to consider the main independence layout as 'old fashioned'

4. This estate if well planned, will retain some of its natural endowments, like the lake and its lush greenery, making it appealing to a new generation of educated professionals who will value aesthetics

5. This place when well policed, will not have the noise and confusion of most parts of Enugu. You cannot live here if you dont own a ride, so no keke trouble grin

6. Class is magnetic, it will surely draw in more class around it. Expect something similar in those distant bushes around Ugwuaji and Amechi in some few years time.

What are these people even doing at the state assembly complex, does it mean we the masses cannot reach out to them to at least complain about this. Do you guys even know who represents you at the Enugu state house of assembly. Then its time you bombarded his phone numbers with calls and emails. Lets fight this and other societal ills plaguing the state. How many people can go on foot to complain at the floor of the house? A law needs to be made and enforced.

All these happen because we all dont care enough!
