From what I know, the two contending candidates now are senator Ifeanyi okowa and tony obu. Ifeanyi okowa has always been the preferred candidate since he is part of the ibori political family but obu is an emergent dark horse. UPU as a social cultural group is trying to negotiate for position. In may or also they have had meetings with some of the candidates from delta north. I am aware that Ifeanyi okowa, ndudi elumelu and some others have had meetings with them. Again if, u look at it carefully, how many candidates are there from delta Central campaigning for gubernatorial election apart from ogboru in labour party. Come to warri , ask any PDP steward he tell u that it's delta north turn. Besides ibori has already endorsed his candidate and he is Ifeanyi okowa.

Why must everyone cry to Jonathan just to get a slot anyway? This shows how the influence of Jonathan has destroyed Nigerian politics-Dividing Nigerians along ethnic lines.

The Ibori machine is too weak to deliver for Okowa, they lost out big time in ward congress, last week. Also, the GOV is up against Senator manager for his seat, never underestimate the fallout of that show down. Utuama has the support of political leadership of the central zone. The only zone with many hats in this race is the northern zone. It will come down to divide and conquer. The Northern zone should settle for one candidate and present him alone. Obuh is not a dark horse, but the fro5nt runner for most deltans.

Really? Ibori political machine weak? I don't think so. Did they actually loose at the ward congresses? Well for all I know, those that matter in PDP delta state are still ibori boys. From the governor to party leaders who matters. That's where the real politicking is. Tony obu not a dark horse? U will agree with me that until few months ago, tony obu was no where but only came on strong as the primaries draws nearer. Mark my word the preferred candidate remains okowa. As for the gov running for senate and James manager stepping down for him. That is being sorted out. The same senator James manager is still part of ibori team. For the guber election, even some of the top contenders know who the preferred candidate is and gov uduaghan will always tell them, convince me of ur popularity but he has his candidate already.
