Nigerians are the own worst enemies, is it by force for America to sell its state of art weapons to a Banana Republic that is more likely to use those weapons for political thuggery and oppression of its citizens than fight BOKO HARAM. all the AK47 Nigerian troops carry about are already from Russia, so go and buy from them or even China, SK, France, Germany. Nigerians on Nairaland hate America because they are very jealous, vindictive people of America's success. if given the chance to immigrate to US, they will be first to race to US consulate like cockroaches |

Pls let no one blame U.S A For its refusal to sell its cobra helicopter technology to Nigeria. If this pains Nigeria, let Nigeria go and die (in Oshiomhole's voice ). Nig has refused to learn from 1960 to date. What about the Nigerians that had attempted building manned helicopters in d 1970(s), 1980(s ) to date? Atleast I know of one whom by name is called OKALI from Ondo state who attempted building manned helicopter in d late 1970(s ) or 1980(s) I can't remember precisely though I met with him personally. There is another one that attempted it in d early 1990( s) who happened to b a senior brother to my friend, he is also from Ondo state . The manned helicopter he built was done in Afolabi premises in Akure Ondo state. The manned helicopter flew some feet high and d project could not be perfected because of lack of fund and because d people(citizens) did not believe in his project. They said why would they invest in his project when Nig has d money to buy one ( helicopter) easily from other countries. If Nigeria's government and its citizens had encouraged these talented citizens then in "CASH " probably sponsoring them abroad to learn more about d flying object thing, 20yr or 30yr after, Nig gov may not be here spewing out d rubbish its saying. If d statement made by U.S of A pains Nig, let Nigeria put together its best brains who may be currently jobless together and build its own Helicopter. SIMPLE!!! |

OLADD:Explicit...well said! But its good that things like this happen some times, so that we will know that these westerners have always been pretending to wish us good.that's one..Secondly,for us (nigerians)to know that In everything they say, they have double standards. Thirdly,It should make our government to look inwards to see that we have innovative minds in all the geopolitical zones in nigeria and finance them. Instead of spending monies on worthless things that won't build this country and make it strong in all areas. In addition, continous financing of research and development in different areas of our economy is what we need to prevent such let down and to be self sufficient. Besides,we still have Russia and China to buy from.....I just hope we learn from this!! |

One excuse per every press briefing. if its not human rights abuse,it is something else. They onCE said our version of Ebola cure was a pesticide. Today they are fighting Ebola with their own developed drug and its not working. without their sophisticated weapons, we are still holding out in the war against terror and our International missions. GOD BLESS NIGERIA. AMEN |

WE DECLINE NIGERIA'S REQUEST FOR COBRA HELICOPTERS BECAUSE WE FEAR THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO USE AND MAINTAIN IT. - USA Well am not surprised by their ridiculous excuse. They won't want us to finish what they started. Afterall their dream is to see Nigeria disintegrate into pieces. Anything the US touches never remain the same again. Nigeria must review it's policy with the US. We need to stay away from them as far as possible. Look at what they did to Haiti and Liberia. The US is not a friend. China is a much better ally. |

Ichiato:At the bolded I used "always" meaning there are exceptions. Not all we see or appear to be true is and not all unseen things should be doubted. On the second, nothing justifies killing the innocent. All im trying to say is if you were in their shoes, youll be a different person, with a different thinking. How easy it is for ua to criticize while not in others shoes - fighting for a cause you know nothing about, and probably cant win or die in the process; like your life was gambled off. And US, i could careless about them. The shekau being killed story, we all still don't know the truth. As complex as the issue is, let uncle sam stop playing under the guise that they're helping. We saw it in the Ebola issue. So we'll just handle it our own way. |

Human right violations! Where is Guantanamo bay located? I have said it before and i will say it over and over again that if the sponsorship of BH in Nigeria is well investigated, there is tendency of establishing a link to US in retaliation to Nigeria's refusal to follow all her evil policies including but not limited to the following: 1. Nigeria bluntly refused to allow US establish her Military Base in Nigeria 2. Nigeria stopped the payment of any contract in crude oil 3. Nigeria rejected monetary policies recommended by Wold Bank and IMF 4. Nigeria signed into law an act criminalizing same sex marriage and so on. Just like we defeated Ebola we will defeat BH without US cobra and other military hardware. |

Just picture this; I walked into Coscharis Autos shop in VI, and demand a quote to purchase a 2014 Range Rover and Coscharis Autos refuses to sell to me because they doubt my ability to service and maintain the car. No, I think wants Boko Haram to kill more innocent persons so they can have excuse to invade us all and activate their AFRICOM Agenda. And to note that this is happening in an Era that a Black man of African descent is President of United States is just shocking. |

bandisandi:With insight, you will see that what they refer to isn't technical ability but the moral ability of nigeria. And they're 100% right. Many examples abound to show you that nigeria lacks the moral ability to maintain those devices. Rather than blame america, it should be seen as a wake up call but no, our leaders and their cronies take million to go and campaign on cnn for prestige. We need a re oriented government, not all these saTANs. *so sad* |

Yes Nigerian military lack the technical know how. beating civilians you should be protecting around doesn't make you a professional fighting force. Burning buses on ikorodu road are not the signs of a professional military. We saw the news recently of the hundreds of people released by the nigerian army after being arrested as boko haram suspects. Those were the lucky ones how many would have been killed innocently all in the name of boko haram. Whilst boko haram must be stopped, human rights must not be trampled on as that is a fundamental foundation of a sane society. The rule of law must apply, but in Nigeria it is the rule of anything goes. I saw a documentary on the abuse by the army and it is appaling. If the Nigerian army were so technically advanced then let them develop our own weapons and stop begging around. Why is is now we are trying to equip our army? Closing the door after the horse has bolted. When you show you can maintain your international airport, the myriad of bad roads all around the country, maintain a national airline, provide functioning accommodation for youth corper, maintain proper barracks for soldiers then let's talk about how you can maintain high tech weapons. I will not be suprised if the helicopters end up with boko haram or worse end up as scrap in a yard in a couple of years time. How many planes does the Nigerian airforce have? bandisandi: |

You sound like of those nano silver believes. For your information Nigeria handled ebola with the help of the CDC based in America and for your information aside the index case of Duncan, America has treated every other ebola cases unlike Nigeria where 50% died. Nigerians have perfected the art of blaming everyone and everything for the failure of its people and government. Blame witch in village, blame devil, blame America, but never blame mediocrity . I'm a sane country there would be questions asked as to why our army is so poorly equipped. What has happened to all the defense budget for the past years Has it all been stolen or arw we saying the government purposely did not equip the army? Nigeria budgeted $2.3bn for defense in 2013 after years of average increase of 20% since 2007. What has been done with the money as we know families of soldiers who died in service were not getting their entitlements Wh ere is all the money going? Instead it's blame game. Continue blaming America and don't cox the rot in your country. You blame America for everything yet everyday queue at their embassy. Rexnegro: |

GlorifiedTunde:It seems like you have a personal beef with the US. First of, @ your first bolded. You still don't get it, what makes you then think that what you have read between the line is the truth that you're suddenly critical of the US. @ your second bolded. I might not be sure of many things but I'm hell sure I won't sit around and tell lies to the public and turn around and blame someone else. You are right about no one knowing the truth about the shekau been killed story, but you know why? Because our military and leaders are employing the Sidon look attitude. This I think is the fourth time they are claiming to have killed shekau. What about the ceasefire that was never existent. Just a month back, they made Nigerians feel we are almost winning the war and many on nairaland here were even boosting that we should not agree to any ceasefire and show no Mercy on BH. In a matter of weeks there is no ceasefire and BH seems to have even gotten deadlier. All I ask from our military is transparency first. Just tell us Nigerians the truth. The issue of Ebola is also another case of how people blindly critize the US. The US also had their very own home grown case of Ebola and did they use the so called drugs? No. Y? Because the drugs is still experimental. Instead they had to use the same treatment of blood therapy which is exactly also what Nigeria used and still has no guaranty of survival and yet people still criticize. You should also try taking your advise. Maybe if you put yourself in the shoes of America and a country like Nigeria comes to you for such favour you would do worse |

bandisandi:if by any chance the boko boys get hold of that helicopter maybe due to the loop holes and agents they have in the army, that will be an opportunity to transport that weapon to their al qaeda sponsors who will study the technology, improve on it, and use it against people. Its simple intelligence. |

BH somehow get whatever they want from the military.....guns, APC's, arms and ammunition and tanks. They capture them by raiding the bases....take them when "abandoned" by the army....or handed to them by sympathisers or insiders. BH don't have jet fighters because they don't want...they'll have to build airstrips. Attack helicopters they will be delighted to have. .......and will get if the military ever vets any. I am sure BH is most angry at the US not making the helicopters available....and on second thought...I wonder if BH insiders are really behind the helicopter deal? |
