Your argument makes no sense Bro. Unlike Nigeria where people take pride in Aluu4 ,jungle justice , where human life and human right means nothing to anyone The US actually cares about safety and lives of its citizens and human right . Soldiers signed waivers during training and they get paid for the risks. Human rights watch did not complain about soldiers violating the rights of terrorists they complained about soldiers murdering innocent people .like a video where a man in military fatigue beheaded 6 suspected terrorists with his cutlass and they put them in a mass grave

Operating some weapons is not just load and cock and aim. Command bases , video streaming of live events , military satelites and every other factors work together for decision making in advanced countries . Also Most aeronautic engineers are mostly engineers by degree not by experience , What's the problem with Nigeria ? Maintenance culture. You buy you use you abandon . Furthermore if some members of the Nigerian army came out to say they cant shoot their brothers in Islam and they happily handed over weapons and armored tanks. That jet in the wrong hands is a disaster for Nigeria as a whole

I guess my point is that the USA has the moral and psychological obligation not to provide a weapon of mini mass destruction to Nigeria as long as barbarians are still in charge , and as long as soldiers are defecting to boko haram camps .
need I say more?

think they are trying to save lots of innocent citizens.
USA knows who the real Boko Hara are
You're right.

They're also trying to keep their hands clean.

And I'm pretty sure they know the lowdown on BH.

Money talks...BS walks.

The reward of American citizenship is also a juicy carrot to dangle before the eyes of voluntary turncoat, desperate to leave his/her country...in exchange for vital information, of course.

USA, and indeed the western world, is afraid of Nigeria's potentials. Their ONLY interest now is to see Nigeria split to pieces in 2015 so that we will no longer be a threat to them.
Besides, is there any country USA entered to fight a war and left the country in one piece? Ask Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya etc. Thanks to Nigerian govt for not allowing the USA to come into the country to effect their prediction of 2015 split of Nigeria.

Who the hell is begging for freebies from the Americans?! Us? Read the darn story again abeg. The last time the Americans gave us platforms for free, they were WW2 Coast Guard junk cutters and the recent bare Hamilton Class Ship + a bunch of Toyota Land cruiser pickups and trucks. That is it. In this case, we asked that they SELL old Cobra Attack Helos (key word *SELL*) to us.

That said, we shouldn't even be surprised about the actions of the Americans. It is typical of those two - faced clowns. The Ambassador shouldn't have even said anything in the first place. Besides, I'll still pick the Mil- 35 any day over the AH-6 Cobra, and we've got a host of other nations that'll be eager to sell their birds from the Chinese to the South Africans.

But the Americans should NOT insult us by claiming that we can't operate and maintain that platform.
My brother, if you have a shop, and I come to your shop to buy something, and for whatever reason (good or bad/reasonable or not) you refuse to sell to me, and I start shouting to the whole world that you dont want to sell/that you must sell/that why wont you sell.....IT IS BEGGING!

What's all this crap talk about live streaming, data links, and all what not? We are talking about the AH-6 Cobra Attack helicopter, NOT the AH-64 Apache or the B -2 Spirit stealth bomber or some space ship. Again, keep in mind that we've been operating the UH-1 helo for decades, a platform on which the AH-6 was built.

Btw, you make it sound as if establishing a data link is something out of this world, when the Nigerian Air Force has been using same for their drones for years now. Don't forget that we've designed and launched our own observation and Communication satellites (delivery vehicles exclusive) in both low earth orbits (LEO) and much farther geosynchronous orbit.

Hmmm, so brain is not matured enough to distinguish between a fighter plan that crashed due to technical failure and one that was shutdown by weapons. Not even matured enough to distinguish the frequency with which this crashes happen. Have you ever heard that BH shot down any plane? Nawa for you oh
Did you actually go through my quoted, or is there a faulty connection between your eyes and your brain?

First of all, it so obvious that you don't know the difference between a FIGHTER PLANE (fixed wing, not "plan) and a HELICOPTER (rotary).

2nd, apparently you jumped the part were I mentioned the OV-22 OSPREY case.

3rd, we don't know if the helicopter crash was as a result of enemy fire, technical issues or pilot. Or do you work at NAF or AIB?

Finally, even with our not - too - stellar safety record, recording a 2nd crash in a short period is even odd for us Nigeria.

Now feel free to give your nearby power transformer a lap dance, a $$ wipe.

http://www.janes.com/article/38528/nigerian-air-force-says-uavs-are-not-operational

The Gulma unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is developing is not operational as yet, NAF spokesman Air Commodore Yusuf Anas said in a 27 May statement.

He explained that the Gulma unveiled in a ceremony attended by President Goodluck Jonathan on 17 December was a prototype, and that full-scale production is still in progress. "The Nigerian Air Force unmanned aerial vehicle Gulma is yet to be deployed for operational uses. Meanwhile, training of the NAF UAV operators is currently ongoing," he said.

2. http://www.suasnews.com/2014/05/29455/nigeria-air-force-gulma-yet-to-be-deployed-for-operations/

Abuja — Nigerian Air Force on Tuesday said its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), nick-named “GULMA” was yet to be deployed for operations.

This is contained in a statement signed by Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, in Abuja.

The statement said that training of the UAV’s operators was currently ongoing.

It noted that what was unveiled by President Goodluck Jonathan, on Dec. 17, 2013 at Air Force Base, Kaduna, was a prototype, adding that its full scale production is in the making.

The statement was reacting to a report which said the opportunity to locate the kidnapped girls was blown because the drone was not used.

The report stated that last December, Nigeria unveiled a locally made drone at an Air Force base in Kaduna, although it had not flown since.

The story alluded to the fact that the Nigerian Air Force unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which could have been used by government to locate the girls had not flown.

The statement noted that there was need, therefore, to put the record straight as it concerned the service’s UAV.

Finally, while the report on the new GULMA UAV is correct on the fact that it's still being tested (and rightfully so), it also backs my claim that it isn't only Nigerian made, but proves that we have the expertise. Thanks for the backup, douche cheesy

I couldn't agree more on your post. So on point. Indeed corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of this nation, and the military is not exempted. For years, I personally have been for the need to provide our troops transport helicopters and multi role fighters that will be used to support units isolated in the conflict zone. But it seems the service chiefs are more interested in buying VIP jets instead of these much needed platforms. There's need to change a lot, and stop playing the blame game. If America fails to deliver, all well and good. Russia is there. So is Belarus, China, France, Germany, etc.

But the Americans shouldn't use our "inability" to maintain the Cobra as an excuse. That is my only grouse with them.

The surveillance drones which Nigeria bought from Israel years ago that might have been used to hunt for the more than 200 girls held by Islamist rebels, have been left grounded due to poor maintenance, two official sources and the aircraft’s manufacturer said.

“To the best of our knowledge, these systems are not operational,” Tsur Dvir, Marketing Officer for Aeronautics Defense Systems, a firm based south of Tel Aviv that supplied Nigeria with Aerostar unmanned aerial vehicles, said yesterday.

The former attaché said the deal was struck in 2006, with a view to deploying the drones in the oil producing Niger Delta, where militants were attacking crude pipelines and kidnapping oil workers before the amnesty programme. They never flew.

Last December, Nigeria also unveiled a locally-made drone at an Air Force base in Kaduna, although it has not flown since.

The Aerostar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in 2006 have reportedly been grounded due to a lack of maintenance, limiting surveillance operations against Boko Haram militants. Meanwhile the US has deployed a Predator team to Chad to search for kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls.

The nine Aerostar UAVs were acquired in 2006 and 2007 from Aeronautics Defense Systems (ADS), a company based in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv in a contract which also included the supply of unmanned patrol boats to the Nigerian Navy, bringing the net value of the contract to $260 million.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted ADS marketing officer Tsur Dvir and military and diplomatic sources as saying that the Nigerian UAVs became inoperable five year ago due to poor maintenance.
