I was discussing with some of friends about rape. This was the scenerio we are considering, lets assume a guy (maybe 25 years of age) and a girl (maybe 23 years of age) are dating for quite sometime which is known to everybody including their parents. One day, the girl visited the guy and one thing lead to another, the guy forcefully had sex with the girl. These are our arguments: 1. My friends said that, "due to the fact that they are dating, the case will be dismissed in police station without investigation if the guy refute the allegation of rape". 2. My argument was that, since the sex was not mutual not excluding the fact that they are dating, there is case in police station. Please, be the judge or add your opinion(s). Mod, please move this to the front page to get more insight. |

thankyouJesus:because the nigerian police & the nigerian law are worthless than a used tissue paper, the case is likelier to be dismissed. however, if a guy tries this even with his legally married wife in saner climes, he would go to prison. under no circumstance should any man force himself on a woman. i still don't know how some men enjoy having sex with women who don't want them to. how do they maintain their erëctions in the scuffle before the do? |

obviously, they are no longer dating! allegations of rape almost always place the presumption of guilt on the accused male. It does not matter if the sex was consensual or not or if the man insists it was not rape, as long as the woman says otherwise, the man is adjudged guilty. and yes, the cases are all blanket ones meaning there is an automatic blame on the man regardless if he actually did it or not. |

In this case, if the guy agrees he forcefully had sex with his girlfriend, and she wants to have a case against him, then she will. |

thankyouJesus:because our policemen are useless.... what they look at in such cases are: •time of the incident •if it's in the evening, case dismissed! •are they dating or have they dated before? •did she scream? •has she been at the crime scene before? you tell me, why should any of this matter? on top of this all - they subject the victim to embarrassing questions. we still don't have professionally-trained staff to counsel, support & give medical care to rapë victims. it's those same semi-illiterate officers that would drill the victim. in nigeria, the burden of proof is on the victim unlike the developed world. she must prove she was räped! |
