I just got the new mtn smartmini s620, its got cool apps, less data consumption except when downloading etc but the only problem is the high rate of discharge..
pls guys are there any general app for android devices that help conserve the battery power that I could download or are there any settings one can undertake on the phone?

Just change the phone. Nothing you'll do to stop the quick battery discharge as it was programmed that way. Very low battery capacity. Ä friend bought it and he's planning on selling it now cos of same ish.
