They can say whatever they like. After all, the U.S military assistance was all media and no substance. Just like everything with the Americans.

We would defeat this insurgency, that is a fact, we only need to tailor the media to report the news primarily from our point of view, propaganda or not, it is imperative that we do so.

canceling the training was the best thing to do. i watched an aljazeera interview of a retired british army colonel as to why the slow assistance to Nigerian military from the west. the guy made a very insightful revelation that the west will never give the required training and weapons to the Nigerian military because of the abuses in the north. (against BH for that matter). something they do with impunity to terror suspects. (UK had a death squad that targeted terror suspects during their own insurgency), saying they fear that kind of lethal training will be used against civilians. of course he was referring to the military dictatorship that ended like 14 years ago.

we desperately need to overhaul our defence and foreign policies.

Honestly I don't know why we are still dealing with them its high time we turn to other super powers like russia and china for millitary training and hardwares we,ve wasted too much time on dis U.S joint training and assistance thing, all they know how to do is "propaganda" !
For the corbra attacks and chinooks I knew from d start dey would never sell for us, all they can do for us is to sell used and striped "OPV" ships. They are very cunny. A very good example is the F-16 fighter blog jet dey sold to egyptians and pakistan air force, before it's air bond and it drops any of its war head for real operations they must take permission from the united state, except for training or exercise! So what's d essence of buying something you can use at your own will!
These was exposed during the operation that lead to osama's death, when 4 F-16 jet wanted to take down the helo's that took part in dat nights operation for intering there airspace without permission or prior-notice and they where ordered to stand down! That is US for u they can't give u some thing without taking something from you ! Look at the sepecat we bought from them it was a waste of money and there are hardware are too costly to maintain. Honesly countries like russia, china, ukraine and pakistan would be glad and receive us with open hands am tired of dis western bull-shit !

I am not surprised. I believed NAF will buy JF-17 Thunder even though many people on Nairaland and Beegeagle still doubted and wanted 'solid' evidence.

I was always very sure especially since the photos of NAF chief inside JF-17 cockpit emerged.

Nigeria has no other choice, USA/EU will not sell fighter jets to us, Russian jets are expensive, Pakistan-China is the only option available.

However, I may guess the 6 units Su-30 Flankers left over in Belarus second-hand from India may also be NAF's as they come cheap at $20m each if no other country has grabbed them, there is still hope.

I always put my bet on JF-17 above Su-30, how will NAF continue with F-7 jet into year 2015 ? Haba, make we look am wellu wellu now, with over $2 billion special funds for modern weapons released, how will NAF not buy JF-17 Thunder?

a quote from a journalist in North east

“The military is now better equipped and more confident. Its newly acquired T72 tank is devastating. Boko Haram
bombed it using suicide bombers with a pickup packed with explosives but to no avail. Only scratches. And the beast
moved on."

I didn't know we have t72s in action already!

I agree with all what u av said but are you saying russian jets take example Su-30 is too espensive that we can afford and maintain, I think I would want to disagree a little with you here, because if a country like chad can afford 6nos of SU-25 & SU-25UB,uganda's r not left out, then why would a rich country can't afford SU-30. Look at belarus a country with a population of 9m- plus we are blessed in all things more than them yet we still buy from them I agree JF-17 is the best for the CION operations we can still do better we need 4th generation jets we should learn from our lessons not untill chad or camerioun invades us with there SU-25 ,any just joking! I think our military chief should be thuinking if chad is operating SU-25's then we should av something higher than there's in our inventry, that's why we are giants of africa.
But all goes down to our corrupt leaders

25-30 million dollars per unit for 40 planes, that ain't cheap.

I always knew we were going to the JF-17, most of the worries where how soon. It was inevitable, that we would get them.

We went for value for money. A guaranteed partner, and dependable partner.

I don't know about the 6 units in belarus, we might or still might not get them. All the same, this is gratifying news for me.

The JF-17's would form the back-bone of our Airforce, while whatever light attack jets we get would most definitely replace the Alpha's and L-39z from active service.

Bidexiii, the JF-17 is a 4 GEN fighter jet, Block III is 4.5 Gen. Neither is it a COIN jet. All Close air support fixed wing assets are propeller driven, not jet driven.
