qtx:U can't be so sure bout that fact, because the twin towers were brought down due to controlled demoliton. The buildings were rigged with explosives, the plane was to complement the effort and make it look like a terrorist attack. If u follow the analysis of 9/11 there were fragments of explosives found in the rubble. The only thing that isn't clear is if people were in the plane at that moment or the plane was remotely hijacked. The us as at that time had the tech to seize control from any plane remotely. |

Horus:9/11 isn't a jet fighter! It was a commercial jet being hijacked by terrorist passengers! |

Horus:No terror organisation currently have the capability and capacity to fly a jet. Not even ISIL, the only thing they could have is a pilot that may defect to their camp(take Iraq Airforce as case study) as in the case of ISIL. And brother pls, the case of 9/11 is not an Osama Bin Laden's work, IT IS AN INSIDE JOB. Go ask the American about 9/11, its something the world know that Bush government was responsible for all of the attacks. Mehn! It doesnt take US five minutes to scramble a jet to intercept those hijacked planes yet none respond to the distress call, even when two jet respond to the call from an onshore Aircraft Carrier, the government was quoted as saying "Recall back the wings(jets)". So 9/11 is an inside job. If only you understand what "propaganda" is all about. |

[quote author=Akalia as much as am a military aircraft enthusiast, i quite don't like NAF procuring Fighter jets from non-european and American Manufacturers. Reason been that military aircrafts made in europe and america is superior to what china or any asian manufacturer has to offer. I remember vividly shortly after the NAF procurred some chinese F-7, series of crashes happened, basically because this machines are not very mechanically stable .[/quote]damn wrong!!! You can't compare most Chinese fighter jets to the us! Even the Chinese air power is stronger than that of the U.S. PS:don't quote me with insult we can always argue peacefully bro ![]() |

Vikkie14:bro you are right! No terrorist organisation can fly a fighter jet! But you are wrong in saying it doesn't take the USAF five minutes to intercept d planes! After the first attack the air traffic controller noticed they have got problem so they immediately asked for two fighterjetl to intercept the two other planes!but they were off radar! So intercepting wasn't something easy |

Would rather go for 4 squadrons of JF 17 as our back bone (are we buying block 2?) and probably 2 squadrons of SU-30 as air superiority . Those yanks suppose give themselves brain sell those scorpions to us to replace the Alphas |

tdayof:There is nothing like off radar my brother. Radar isnt some kind of television you can turn on and off. Or you think there is just one radar in the whole of US then? Those planes are not stealth planes bro, they are commercial planes. Even a stealth plane is nt completely off radar as in the case of F117 night hawk. Stealth only make jets "partially" invisible and invicible on the radar bros. Or are you saying those F16 or F15 eagles that were drafted doesnt have their radar? Bro, every fighter jets have their own inbuilt RADAR and Infrared trackers, or you think they make use of ground radars to attack up there? No matter the problem the controller may encounter, the jet doesnt rely on the ground radar. Ground radar is just for tracking and detection of "unwanted" guest and to alert a response of interception. A country that has the capability to fire 15,000 nuclear missiles within 15minutes notice and you expect their Airforce to be a junk? |

Vikkie14:sorry to bug but GTA(ground to air) and ATG(air to ground) radars have ranges.when an aircraft does not come into range it is termed off radar...if u doubt me notice that cyclic screen rotator that moves continuously on a GTA radar screen .it clockwise movement indicates the range of coverage it has..an aircraft might be flying directly or sub directly to radar waves but the rebounds of the waves back to the receptors may be low hence it will still not be detected. the simply layman understanding of radar is radio waves(high waves length) are sent out by encoders or transmitters when it hits an object within range heavily.it bounces of the object and returns back to the decoders or receptors when the objects begins to take shape for identification many radars today are smart allowing incorporation of high tech identifier programs which automatically differentiate aircraft in flight(mostly used by the military)civilian radars use call signs as ID for detected civilian aircraft.. stealth aircraft work on two principles (a) use of radar absorbing colour schemes (b) streamline or smooth airframes to lower surface to area ratio(create less obstacles for radar waves to hit and bounce of) |

Akalia:No sir, i disagree. the crashes hpnd cos of technical and logistics ish on our part and also lack of maintenance. China has improved greatly in building fighter jets. try south korean fighter jets too. i share ur sentiments buh the only alternative for us is Russia or maybe France, buh i doubt if france will sell the dasault to us(based on colonial ish with Uk) Uk on their own no too dey into fighter jets odawise BAE for don dey arm us as per colonial ally. US cannot sell F-16 or F-22 or even F-35 to us, cos they do nt sell to con3s not in NATO (dts assuming we can afford doz jets) |

| Re: Nigeria Finalises Deal For 1 To 2 Squadrons Of JF-17 Fighter Jets by Vikkie14: 3:47pm On Dec 03, 2014 |
Cannonleo:I agree with all your point. But in the case of 9/11, there is nothing like off-radar as my other guy make me believed. I agree that radar has ranges but where one radar stops, another pick up so there wont be any loop holes. Take the Israeli Iron Dome System as case study. When the system was first launched, its radar range is not quite far so they have made extensive plan to upgrade it radar signature. But bro, the F22 raptor radar could detect targets(stationary or moving) 3miles out. So i still dont believe the issue of 9/11 is as a result of "off radar" problem. |

I would never buy technology this crucial from Pakistan or India. We're thinking too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TKcRSsc_KM I posted the you-tube featured aircraft sometime ago. As we strive to create a modern air-force, this type of aircraft should form the majority of our basic fleet, therefore our third best assets, then we'd have more sophisticated second and first rated fighters. Buying from Pakistan and India firmly places our ambition as typically African. NB In many ways the Scorpion does look like one of those patronizing technologies created for the third-world market but it has the advantage for us of being modern and something we could take apart and learn from how to build our own indigenous air vehicles. |

Vikkie14:radars used as at 2001 civilian within the new york districts had limitations.well you are absolutely correct.according to many articles and documentries i have watched abt the incident..the air controllers were to lax....they noticed the deviations to late or didnt know what the problem was.so the aircrafts were not out of range |

SirShymex:i doubt it. There is no reason to since it cannot be made locally. China/Pakistan will only have their personnel in Nigeria to maintain it and we will pay for it just like the Hinds. Personally, i think it is a bad idea. not a fan of a one engine jet fighter |

Litmus:I think Nigeria is "a typical" African country and there is no need to pretend we're not!!! Nigeria is struggling with: 1- Electricity 2- Health care facilities and Medical Personels 3- Motorable Road network 4- Standard Airports 5- Pipe-borne water (Both safe enough to drink and clean enough for ordinary laundry) 6- Railways and other methods of transportation 7- Communication: telephone, internet etc 8- Financial control and financial security (it's NOW more difficult to steal Gov't money and Ngozi is tracking all ministerial payments!!!) the list goes on and on. I thank God for President GEJ as it is under his watch that the first significant progress was made in aleviating these problems. Now, back to topic: you need money to buy a fighter jet. you need money yo fly a fighter jet you need money to "pack" a fighter jet you need alot of money to get an American or European to live in Nigeria and "service" your fighter jet! Nigeria still dey far but we're trying. Akwa Ibom state government is making a massive investment in this direction and it takes alot of time. We are Nigerians and we are Africans but we dey try.... |
