The mistake Ndiigbo outside SE make is that they think that by denying their true identity, they would be able to escape the fall out of the defeat of Biafra, that they could leave it all for the SE to bear the consequences, but the truth is that as long as the SE suffers politically in Nigeria, so would the Igbos outside the SE in their various microcosms of Nigeria.

And to the Igbo from across the Niger, not all Anioma people deny being Igbo. The silent majority understand they are Igbo. Someone once told me that the rich Anioma people admit to being Igbo while the poor ones deny it. I don't believe it is that black and white but I know personally I am a Deltan of Igbo ethnic group and I am proud of it.

The politicians are fanning the embers of disunity to line their own pockets. When Ibori was the governor, he lined his pocket and did not really change the life of the average Urhobo. The money he stole could have made a difference on the lives of every Deltan.I also know that an Anioma governor may pay attention mostly to his town and his cronies leaving the rest of Anioma people in penury. Ideally the best governor would be one that cares for all regardless of ethnicity. For now though, Nigerians are not politically matured to understand that we are all victims of poor governance. Therefore, we will continue to hear the ethnic jingoism. The issue of rotation is not peculiar to Delta and at the end of the day, na dem dem as they say in Nigerian parlance.

The scenario I painted is an everyday thing. I schooled in Delta state University, Abraka. I stayed in that environment from 1998 to 2008. Let me give you few examples:
(1). A coursemate then, (Economics Dept) had his name mistakenly typed. His name is Emeke, but Emeka was typed. You need to see how he was fuming that afternoon the he is not Igbo and so his name should not be written as Emeka, but Emeke!
(2). Angela, a Loudgemate and a friend then, from Onitcha-ugbo (abt 15mins drive away from Asaba) says she is not Igbo but she is Ibo.
(3). A Family friend and Lecturer, Dr Anidu of Blessed Memory (which is Ani Idu, meaning Land of Idu) in one of our healthy arguments asked one day " you Igbo people, what do you people really what sef?" This is someone from the Igbo speaking part of Delta state.

So, my friend, if you are searching for hate, looking within you. Is there not here!!

One naira had many times vigorously defended the honour and integrity of ndigbo on this forum, when members of other Nigerian hate and Igbophobic ethnic groups tried to tarnish the image of Ndiigbo.


You must not mistake him for the low lives suffering from identity crisis in Anioma, you owe him an apology. You can't be more passionate about the well being of the Igbo nation than one naira, take your time and go through his post history.

My earlier post on this thread was not meant for the Anioma people who are proud of their Igbo identity. It was meant to bring those still wallowing in self induced identity crisis, back to the reality of the state of the Igbo nation, pre and post Biafra in Nigeria. Integrate all Igbo communities into one geopolitical region, and the identity crisis will cease automatically. If all Igbo communities are merged together in one region, every Igbo man will be proud of his Igbo identity. The Eze of Asaba, Professor Chike Edozien, has stated this idea on several occasions. Igbo leaders should work towards achieving this goal.

As far as I'm concerned, all of them are the same. They speak the same language albeit with little differences. It still baffles me how the Isokos are different from the Urhobos...the languages are very similar as well
