Slightly off topic.

Does anyone rebuild their engines anymore in Nigeria? Most of the threads are always asking about replacing engines.

OP, why are you not just rebuilding your existing engine?

I don't know how to Rebuild an engine but the way people demand for new engine here, you would think Rebuilding is the hardest job on earth.
And any time i ask why, they say rings and metals in the market are fake. What happened to Amazon and Ebay? I was even ready to do a Probono on rings for someone and he refused, he kept on insisting if i have links to help him ship engine. Na wa oh.

While engine rebuild is a bit dedicated and requires precise measurements (much of this is done by a machine shop anyway) but it is far easier than trying to install another engine from a different manufacturer in a car.

if engine rebuilding consist of changing the piston et al. (the parts were from GM Abuja) then I have done that twice each at the cost of 50k, both times it didn't last 1 month when I took it on a 600km trip.
so I guess that's why people ask for a new engine
