Let me just post what I think about the APC ticket.

Ideally, based on the quality of leaders available - I would've preferred the Kano state governor as the presidential candidate (since it was ceded to the North), and Amaechi as VP (or maybe a Fashola) as APC flag-bearers. I like the political savviness of the both of them - fearless and the street smartness. For Amaechi to even survive the onslaught from both GEJ and his wife, that shows he isn't a slouch. I have got great admiration for strong leaders. However, based on practicality, the old been has be selected - and Amaechi as a VP would be counter-productive since there's no way in hell APC can win in that region. And with or without Amaechi on the ballot, the party would still get the number of votes it will most like get over there.

I believe the ticket represents the two strongholds of the party, and rightfully so. In realpolitik, you solidify your strongholds. Also, a Muslim-Muslim would've been a disaster due to the religious divide in the country. Ethnic/religious sentiment is the bread and butter of Nigerian politics, and failure to acknowledge that would be self-destructive. Just as US politics is about foreign policy, the financial sector, and immigration to an extent. The UK is about immigration, welfare, London, and the NHS. South Africa is about the residual effects of the legacy of apartheid and pandering to the emotions of the black majority (forget what Mandela said about Rainbow Nation). So, it's a decent ticket.

The battle should be won in the North Central. But be on the look-out for: Edo, Delta (if APC can get Itsekiris and Urhobos on board), RIvers, Ekiti, and Ondo.

Also, whoever wins the next election needs to find a way to make Adebayo Ogunlesi the Finance Minister. There's no Nigerian, dead or alive, with this guy's CV in the financial world. He's currently the lead director of Goldman Sachs. When you look at his CV - it's somewhat similar to Mark Carney's CV. And if the UK could go all the way to Canada, to get Mark Carney to fix the economy (he has done a superb job thus far). I don't know why Nigeria can't do the same since the guy was born and raised in Nigeria. Analysts are already predicting a global financial meltdown next year. So, time is of the essence, especially for a country like Nigeria that depends solely on oil.

An Area Court, being a court of 1st instance, is an integral part of the Federal Capital Territory Judiciary which bears the heavy weight of the tremendous burden of the administration of justice system, which also come into contact with the greater percentage of the citizenry, and to this, the idea of the citizenry as to the concept of justice and its image may very well depend on what e see, hear and perceive about it.

Prior to the arrival of the colonial masters, there had been the existence of what was called the “alkali court” mainly manned by a renown Islamic scholar, and was duly administered and controlled by the Emirs and Chiefs. In 1956, however, there was a law promulgated applicable to the whole Northern Nigeria known as Native Courts Law which conferred power on the Chief Justice of Northern Nigeria for the establishment of Native Court all over the then Northern Nigeria, and this continued until 1967 when Nigeria was splited into twelve states. The newly created states in the then Northern Nigeria adopted the same law with an amendment which culminated into the establishment of the present Area Court by virtue of the Area Court Edit of 1968.

In 1976, Nigeria was also splited by the creation of more states giving the total number of nineteen and Abuja was made as the capital of Nigeria. Originally, Abuja was carved out of then Kwara, Benue/Plateau and North Western States; however, Area Court was already established in those states and to that, the Court exists prior to the creation of the Federal Capital.

In 1990, there was a collation of laws among which was the Area Court Act[1], thereby gave the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja to establish Area Courts by warrant under his hand.
