Mayhem ensued in the reschedule Week 30 NNL match between Ranchers bees of Kaduna and Kwara united of Ilorin at the FIFA goal project pitch Abuja, when afterabout 18 mins into the game a penalty was awarded to the Afonja warriors to the displeasure of players of Ranchers Bees.Thereafter, before the penalty could be taken, the referee was attacked by irate fans bringing the game to an abrupt halt. Team manager of the Ilorin based NNL side Kwara united FC Masambo Ibrahim told footballlive.ng that his team were having the upper hand in the encounter which lead to his side mounting pressure on their opponent and eventually got rewarded for their effort after two players handled the ball and a penalty awarded which irked a player of Ranchers Bees who hit the referee and eventually the chaotic scene ensued.

“We started the match around 10:30am, and as the match was on we were having upper hand in the game and two of their players handled the ball inside the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty, as soon as the penalty was awarded, someone just carrieda stone and hit the referee on the head and the referee was attacked and the whole venue turned upsidedown and the referee was beaten black and blue which lead to us all running helter skelter for safety.” Masambo stated.

embarassedIn as much as I don't support violence...watch the replay again and again the ball was clearly outside the box. This match was highly sensitive and tension was high. The blaim should be placed squarely on Abuja FA,NNL management...for not providing security. It got so bad that even policemen were given upcut and they ran for their lives.A proper investigation should be carried our and any one found guilty or team should be made to face the music.

We've seen wrong calls made in football at the highest level, yet the ref was not battered in this manner. These are footballers who will be dreaming of playing in Europe abi? May they rot forever in the local league. Barbaric lowlifes without sense.

Someone corrected you for supporting a barbaric act and you still came back with a rejoinder. Is beating up the ref the best way to handle the matter? Or are you a club owner or local league player? Two wrongs don't make a right.

Some people don't know that if we build our leagues we have the following to benefit.
1) We get to train a better football team for the world.
2) We get to have another recreation spot other than beer parlours, and viewing centres.
3) We get to create jobs for ourselves- e.g coaches, referees, health team, security agents etc get jobs.
4) If we keep up d management process our stadiums will become african standard atleast encouraging d world to come and partner with us....and that means more money.
But we chose to damage everytin jus cos of immediate pleasure.
The next time u complain about unemployment just know that WE are the cause.

Abuja fans behave like animals. Im sorry i didn't mean to insult anybody. This is defeat to football and civilization.
I was in that stadium for the match between NIG and Sudan. People were throwing missiles to the pitch, they forgot is a live match and televised for international audience.
I wonder how people will look at Nigeria.
