Ismaaiyi Brinsley last week walked up to two cops on the street and shot them in the head before turning the gun on himself. Before the shooting the gunman told passers-by to watch what he was going to do, moments before the attack. This came after protests over the choke hold killing of a black man, Eric Garner, in New York by cops. Instagram posts attributed to Brinsley have been described as "very anti-police". Part of the caption on one of his posts read, "I'm Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours... Let's Take 2 of Theirs." After shooting the cops, he ran into a subway station and shot himself in the head.
