Few weeks ago, news and videos of the Ugandan made who maltreated and physically abused the little child went viral. That incidence has become my source of motivation in compiling five reasons why every home has to have a security camera installed.

Before I proceed, just in case you're wondering what CCTV means, it's closed circuit television camera.

So, to the meat of my article.

1.One can monitor and keep track of kids

Aside from the fact that it prevents anyone from physically abusing them as we saw in that video, kids, most especially the boys are known to engage in dangerous activities whose consequence can be disastrous. I know of a man whose kid broke his left arm while playing with the elder brother in the room. This could have been avoided if a surveillance camera had been installed in their room.

2. It prevents thieves who specialise in robbing you of your belongings while you're away from home. Need I say more, the presence of the cameras alone scares them.
And for those who dare to enter the house, the camera records all the action which is available for view in a hard disk.

3. It enables remote viewing of your home through the use of Ip cameras. This enables one to view his home/office even when far away. Though this is quite costly to install, the advantages of using it outweigh the cost.

No, we don't install CCTV cameras in bathrooms neither do we install it in toilets.

However, there are cameras with audio recording capability. All one needs is to install one in the vicinity of the toilet and bathroom.

Even when you can't watch the video, the audio will give you a pretty good idea of what transpires in the bathroom/toilet.

There's no hiding place for abusive housemaids

Yes, they can be inverter powered.

There are solar powered CCTV cameras but I have never installed it. I'm however sure the installation wouldn't differ much from conventional ones.
