*******Solution******

taking ratio with 4x throughout,

we have

(3/4)x + 1= (5/4)x

=>(0.75)x -( 1.25)x+1

=(1-0.25)x -(1+0.25)x +1

Now by. binomials, (1+r)p=1+pr + 0.5p(p-1)r2 +. . .

we thus have

1-0.25x -1-0.25x +1 =0

=> x=1/0.5

hence x=2

guess am right.

Another approach is making use of Logarithm.
Re: Solve This Maths Question And Win A Prize. by bolkay47(m): 8:11pm On Dec 24, 2014
From pythagorean triple a^2+b^2=c^2 where (a,b,c) are (3,4,5).... 3^x+4^x=5^x therefore x=2 because (a,b,c) are pythagorean triple.

This your method is simply called inspection method.
