He will make 24 Naira if the 100 oranges were sold @ 1.20 for 5. But instead he made 30 Naira from selling the remaining oranges @ 4 for 1.50. So he gained 6naira.
Percentage profit = 6/ 24 X 100. = 25%

I could never fix 1+1. Was so poor in maths. How i learnt all those dy/dx in differentiation later in life still remains a mystery. I guess i just had to because i needed to pass my MBA. If i spend time i will answer that question but there is no time to waste time abeg. I agree tne answer is 25%.

Re: Do You Still Remember? Who Can Solve This Jss1 Maths Question? Ja by efguy1(m): 10:33am On Feb 23, 2015
If 5 oranges cost N1.2,
den 1 orange would cost N(1.2/5) =N0.24

since he bought 100 oranges,
the C.P would be 100 x 0.24 = N24

Now since 20 oranges got spoilt, he could only sell 80 oranges.

He then sold 4 for N1.50, which means one would cost N(1.50/4) = N0.375

so the S.P of 80 organges would be 80 x N0.375 = 30

so we got;
C.P = N24
S.P = N30
so Gain = N30 - N24 = N6

%gain = gain/C.P x 100%
= 6/24 x 100%
= 1/4 x100%
= (100/4)%
= 25% gain

so the correct option is (25% gain) B

ces't Clear?
