I guess u are still in school or yet to start! Nigeria of today doesn't respect all these discipline u mentioned if not for medicine only.
I'm an engineer with 2.1 in mechanical but still no job even after many trials.
job this days is all about grace of God which could lead to luck abi na connection.
Maybe when u finish serving like us, u will know how far.

I served as far back as 1994.Am talking from experience and what youths get themselves in this days.Look at the hand of time and you know that our society does not care for those who cannot survive.I learnt this all along and I made up my mind not to be employed but to be an employer of labour.Today I am self sufficient.Son....if you can't get a job...sit down....think....look around what can you do...there must be something...no matter how small you can start...and because you went to school...you can add more value to that thing.I have always postulated that there is no such thing as luck...luck is a product of your sweat....the more you sweat or work hard mentally...physically the luckier you are.The job will come...but you must work for it.Stay positive. cool

Patience is the word. Take up the one you see and God will bless it and increase you from there. Don't be greedy for the big one. That's why people wait and wait.

Tell them bro
Once I finished and d 6months interval b4 I served, I wrote close to 6 job tests most of dem by gate crashing cheesy

I was bounced @ d hall for pzexam as I hadn't yet served..for kpmg even though I gate crashed I passed the aptitude test..na during the interview process wey nysc issue com crop up I was still 21yrs though

The bottom point here is that during the nysc period I already knew whatthe job market was all about..

It pays to be proactive, surround urself with high fliers or people with similar goals who are into the hussle like urself..thatz where u get to knw that 'coy abc is schedulin test here @ point d', etc

I disagree 100% it's luck. Is it luck that will apply for jobs and be up to date not missing any opening? Is it luck that will help you prepare and pass ur shl, gmat and dragnet test? Is it luck that will bring confidence to dazzle in interviews? Big NO. I agree the time span for the recruitment process could be long...but its all about the huzzle. In my case 'my story' I gatecrash test so tey when I started seeing constant faces on the same mission and we greet our self like "bros you dey here again". Some were successful, some were not. I applied for any opening, even though I knew I will not tk d job...some just to gain interview experience. I prepared adequately for test and the only negative feedback I could get was they will not get back, but not that I failed...luck doesnt do these. I started d huzzle 6 mths into service, altho the NYSC certificate stuff was always a barrier. NYSC finished and most were still under processing...3-6 months after I became confused cos I was getting offers left and right...from big firms and banks. In 4 months I started 3 new jobs, I always left during training, all this while I had the offer of d coy I knew I will go last last, their process took 10mths.

Brotherly this is a huzzle industry, there are jobs outside...the koko is information...and involve baba God, u don't hv to give pastor all your money to pray for u, or attend church 190 times a week, just make sure personally "Oluwa is involved"

It is the dream of most fresh graduates to get a decent job immediately after NYSC and start life. But life could be very unpredictable. We passed out from nysc and sent our CVs to various companies and hoping to get a job, fastly. A month gone, no job yet? A year is soon gone and still jobless after nysc? So, how long is too long to wait for a job after nysc? that is for how long should a fresh graduate wait for a job ( paid employment) after nysc before considering alternative mean, such as starting a business or creating a job for yourself.

You must come from a comfortable background. Wait? Nothing like that exists! If you need something, you simply get up and go get it. Your options should have been laid out before you graduated. You then fine tune (or make up the missing parts) as you go along.

Please starting from NOW, look for alternatives. Scour NL business sections, ask everyone around you; get something (anything) doing. Or do you want your CV to read "2013-2020: Waiting for a job?". People that have a CV saying "I'm adding value somewhere" are more likely to get THE JOB. You don't have to say "Self-employed" in your CV. Are you still reading this? Stop wasting time. Get started!

..I think this is a positive sign for me.I am studying English education and all I have been hearing about educational courses is anything but encouraging. My friends majoring in English think no matter how hard i study I will still end up being a teacher and nothing more. Not that being a teacher isn't good, but must all education students be looked down on ...so tell me how you were able to make it without regrets embarassed

No matter the course you study....God's grace, luck or connection can make you to be employed even when in competition with the so called professionals with gud course . ...Using course of study as a reason for unemployment is out of it!

Lol.
I used to sound like you once upon a time.

.
but seeing how some of my friends are struggling, and some are changing jobs with ease makes me believe that life isn't as straight forward as a flying arrow. I will use myself and the lives of my close friends as examples.

sooo I always wanted to b an engineer right from jss3 ( mainly because of the stupendous money my chemical engineering uncle had grin), but then I equally had the right skill set .

By the time I was in ss3, I had activated my engineering eye (the abilty to project 3 dimentional objects on 2 dimentional surface). i knew i could only study engineering.

I was studying my dream course after my 2nd jamb attempt, and graduated @ d age of 24 with a 2-1 in chemical engr.

to cut the long story short, I got a job in a very big multinational firm 6 months aftery nysc with my first interview, and first assessment day attempt ( hadn't done a single interview before then).
so I guess I should be sounding more like you, but the truth is I know some guys that were hands down better than me in that same department who are without jobs 2 years after graduation.

And I also know like 4 of those top guys that are working in oil serving firms. one just switched from haliburton to Schlumberger after staying in haliburton for just a few months.

so like I said...its not as easy as reading your dream course.

bruh that's it..nothing like studying your dream course..once you are lucky to gt any of professional course, you chances of job hunting for so many years will diminsh and vice-versa...
imagine in my school(unizik)introducing new course which i cn't even give a detail what the course is al about, meanwhile some desperate student due to admission challenges will still accept the course, then later on in their 300lev start complaining and lamenting over the so-called course..well,lets just say it aint their fault but due to competition student are facing for survival of the fittest, that led them to the discipline..
my advise is that::anyone who find herself in any unknown discipline should start making prior planning bfor graduation..i think that will help them in long run...

That accountacy you are repping anyhow dont be surprised when a graduate of Animal Husbandry is your immediate boss..
@OP I think the key is preparation, i dont believe in the maxim of getting to the bridge before thinking of how to cross it.. During service year, free time can be spent researching on what is and what is not in the favour market. Follow each recruitment process, download anything that has SHL close to it and pray the best companies start placing add as soon as you pass out. Seasons greetings
