Nigerians Stop Selling Your Votes For Rice! by redcliff(op):
Let me restate it here that politicians in power or yet to be in power using food to buy votes of the electorate have not been able to do the following
1. Develop the agricultural sector thereby making food cheap and not a commodity that is seen as a luxury to have (e.g a bag of rice).

2. Put in place policies that ensures that people are not hungry (employment/job creation) thereby being able to win their hearts with keg of oil and bags of rice and tin tomatoes.

3. Has succeeded in not having anything to offer rather than using rice nd money/pigeon-size chicken to win your votes.

Giving back to you what they got from your taxes and giving it temporarily..Giving you food would not solve your problems, what it can do is feed you for a very very short period and you are back at their mercy and to ypur sorry state.. if they properly developed the roads, the institutions, agriculture, setup infrastructures that last, your life would be at ease and it is worth more than feeding you directly for one year.. you go on the roads and you dont enter a bump or port hole, that is more happiness and satisfaction than stomach infrastructure. However, so many nigerians prefer the latter rather looking at the other part of the coin..

Some people say collect their rice nd oil nd vote your candidate, but i say dont even collect what they offer and vote your candidate, its called dignity and let it be veru clear to them that yours cannot be bought. If they wish so much to give food out, the motherless babies homes need it more..unfortunately nigerians are lacking in the dignity department and thats why we can never be worth anything to them when these so called politicians go bck to their offices.

I want to ask a simple question to end this topic.. what moral standing do you have to judge and criticize a politician who used food to buy your loyalty/vote? Whatever your answer is, it should shape the decisions you make when electing officials..

Be wise nigeria! Enough is enough!

Well according to Inec, electorial candidates cannot be charged for ''giving out gift''(Rice),in exchange for votes......I would not accept such rice and even if i accept i wouldnt vote for you,,,,,politicians think they are smart but i like the look on their faces when they loose elections.
