Sahara Reporters Has Committed Itself To Support Terrorism - Army by OKDnigeria(op): 12:55am On Dec 27, 2014
THE ONLINE CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE HIERARCHY OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY
26DEC

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication on the website of Sahara Reporters with the caption “Nigerian Army Presents Unverified “Lt Col” To Refute Petition Against Military Hierarchy”. It is noteworthy but sad and unfortunate that Sahara Reporters has committed itself to support for terrorism and fighting Nigeria, its people, its military and particularly the Nigerian Army.

Before Sahara Reporters published their purported document described as petition from Lt Col Wende, a serving Commanding Officer, the Nigerian Army conducted a thorough investigation on the document involving other security and intelligence agencies. The process confirmed that the serving officer was not the author of the petition. Yesterday, the officer dissociated himself from the so-called petition in a press conference he personally attended. While reputable media organizations were on hand to engage the officer, Sahara Reporters being a faceless medium, preferred to remain faceless and was not represented. Sahara Reporters sadly, but predictably, and in fulfilment of its support for terrorism published in its website a fabrication in which it referred to the officer as “unverified”. How absurd!

Sahara Reporters has strived hard to present itself as a propaganda medium for terrorism and Boko Haram in particular. It is with this in mind, that the Nigerian Army conducted a press conference in Maiduguri in which the officer who appeared for the press conference is Lt Col Wende, a serving officer of the Nigerian Army. Since the officer has clearly dissociated himself from the document, it makes sense that the so-called petition is the handiwork of Sahara Reporters. With time, terrorism in Nigeria and Sahara Reporters will be defeated by the collective will of the good people of Nigeria.

Any media house that supports terrorism in any form is an enemy of the State. The fight against terrorism should be a collective effort. Those who will not support such fight should therefore desist from discouraging others from supporting. Base on the aforementioned, SR should be seen and treated as an Enemy of the Nigerian State. We shall overcome as a country by the special grace of God in Jesus name, Amen!

Jonathan's cluelessness is a cancer which is spreading to different arms of government. What kind of irresponsible labelling of an independent news organisation is this? Doesn't it portray the NA as a toothless bulldog by identifying SR as a supporter of terrorism within its territory and doing nothing about it apart from getting emotional and hoping that 'the collective goodwill' of Nigerians will do the trick?

Doesn't it portray the NA as a toothless bulldog by identifying SR as a proponent of terrorism within its domain and doing nothing about it apart from getting emotional and hoping that 'the collective goodwill' of Nigerians will do the trick? If this is the reasoning at the top of our military structure then its no wonder why BH are doing shoki all over the place.
Stop with the bull. The military and government have made errors and should be criticized but that is no reason for Saharareporters to make up false stories to support thier agenda.

I so much agree with d Nigerian army on this, but one thing am little bit confused abt is how come d said petitioner truly exist, doesn't that made the Sahara reporter's news some how credible?
Well as usual in any Nigeria case, the more u try to understand, the more confused u become.

I am not in support of false or deliberately skewed reporting either, I was essentially condemning the irresponsibility and carelessness with which the NA handled the situation by labelling a recognised and respected news organisation as a proponent of terror and an enemy of the state.

What does "unverified Lt Col" mean?

Who does NA have to go to verify her own soldiers?

Anybody can type/write your name on any document.

Now suppose "Lt. Col Wande" did sign the document, he appeared at a press conference to disassociate himself from the document.
SaharaReporters did go ahead to say "Lt Col Wande" was not at the press briefing!
Do they know somebody else as "Lt Col Wande"? Or do they have proof the man at the briefing was not "Lt Col Wande"?

what more can show the support for terrorism than to fail in the provision of adequate and modern ammunition to counter terrorism. fighting terrorism is not a child's play where you send soldiers with less sophisticated weapons or no weapons to fight terrorism (that is supporting terror)

That SR got d rank and names of d alleged petitioner right is a bit unnerving and demands dt d army rebuttal b treated with some degree of caution.
Tagging SR supporter of terrorism and even BH shd b condemned in its entirety. If not for SR some of d pple occupying govt positions today wud probably b cowering in fear in some unknown place.
Even major news organizations like CNN,BBC aljazeera etc do all they can to go to terrorists camp interview them and project their own versions of y they carry out their terrorist deeds, despite d atrocities these grps carry out.No sane person has termed these news organizations terrorist sponsors.
D army rebuttal was enough, it now beholds on SR to provide proof of its doubting d person presented or remain shamed.
