While topics on politics attract dozens of thousands of repeated views, the topics on European soccer matches attract hundreds of thousands of repeated views and without religious or tribal bigotry, except sensational posts and comments by fanatics of European football clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and others. And many of their fans know more about the players of their favourite clubs than the names of Nigerian politicians.
A topic on UEFA Champions League match can have over 200, 000 views. But the topic on the worst Boko Haram terrorists attack has never gone beyond 150, 000 views in over two years.
Discussing the politics that affects their daily lives and future should be more important to Nigerian youths than bantering and betting on UEFA Champions League and English Premier League matches as if they cannot be normal without them. That is why the viewing centers showing UEFA Champions League and English Premier League are attracting more youths than Nigerian cinemas and more public discussions than Nigerian politics.

Nigerian political contestants should see how to use the popularity of UEFA Champions League and English Premier League to communicate and connect with Nigerian youths who are the largest population of Nigerian voters and will certainly decide the outcomes of the 2015 elections if the desperate political parties don't manipulate and rig the elections.
The viewing centers can be used to educate and enlighten the youths on the dangers and evils of electoral malpractices and not to sell their voters cards.

I wonder when politics will attract hundreds of thousands of views on Africa's largest public forum on the internet?
And with more than 1 million members, why can't we see over 1 million views on a breaking news topic on the homepage?

Hmmm, op this is really true! I posted on Nairaland something like this few months ago Titled YOUTHS AND POLITICS IN NIGERIA( https://www.nairaland.com/2014846/youths-politics-nigeria ) but it was neglected by many. The youths must wake up from their slumber we need to rise again and fight for out rights not the selfish interest of politicians.

What do you expect when the constitution has marginalised them. Giving them the right to vote @ 18 but not to be voted for till they are 30 or even more. So we face our career and leave old men to their business.

But the youths can make a lot of difference through political awareness and other direct and indirect forms of political participation to prepare themselves for the much needed roles in the society, or to stand for election when they come of age.
We have to sow the right seeds today for tomorrow's harvest.

what is this direct and indirect participation? Does it not end in voting? Meanwhile the old people will not give way o. Except that way is for their children. I cant supply you with enough reasons here. Dnt want to type an epistle.
