I am showing the best of the each country.
You have seen the best of Nigeria. Compare them with the best of Nigeria which is DMU.

Instead of this wasteful rail project that is not well thought out and integrated, GEJ should have focused on either the Power Sector or Refineries.

Honestly Nigeria would have been better off because these are the No. 1 problems with the country alongside Insecurity.

Railways help a lot....it reduces costs of transporting raw materials for industries and exports....which means reduced costs of production. And it is a good means of mass transport.

Nigeria's railway problem in my opinion is the narrow gauge we use....which is why a journey from Lagos to Kano takes 23 hours....

How many years is it now and you are still crawling? Are you not ashamed that u r celebrating locomotive auctioned off trains when other countries you started with are going green with electric trains?

I have posted elsewhere that GEJ has only two achievements after 4 to 5 years so far but I will not go into the details.

1. Eliminating Fuel queues
2. Airports remodelling

But the fundamentals are not right even in the two mentioned above. Sorry I can't go into details here.

Buhari does not have any economic legacy much less trains. In 1983 the economy of Nigeria was in shambles with shortages of essential commodities. He has promised more voodoo economics including stabilizing oil prices. Say no to Buhari. GEJ till Buhari understands basic economic principles.
I still remember market women being flogged and their beverages seized by soldiers at apongbon in 1984 january and their goods distributed freely for price hike or something like that.

Anti-Progressives (read PDP) don't want hard questions to be asked.

Just like GEJ doesn' like debates except with D'Banj.

What an ignorant post. dis is what we ar talking about. If u don't know can't u research or ask elders?. Ur post shows absolute ignorance of d type of hand dat Buhari was dealt when he became head of state. We ar talking of someone inheriting an economy dat was practically dead & resuscitating it & u thru ignorance of d depth & magnitude of d economic problem & national debt dat d GMB govt inherited u ask whether he built trains in an economy dat was practically dead. How clueless can u get?.
d NPN crooks looted d country to bankruptcy. d country was broke & heavily in debt. No country would giv d heavily indebted Nigeria any more loans. No food, no money. Soap, milk, sugar etc popularly called essential commodities disappeared frm d market. Fed govt couldn't even pay salaries & u ar here talking of building of trains in an economy totally wrecked thru profligacy & corruption by thieving politicians. smh

Why do you people present him as messiah when you can't actually point out one achievement of his? Any time he comes under scrutiny the same rhetoric reverberates. Same answer always, if he couldn't do anything when he had power, what makes you think he can do anything now?

It is because you have refused to see his achievements despite that they have been presented on this forum severally. We see what we choose to see, you know?

Try this and pick what is relevant to you from there:

1. Buhari was governor of Borno state under Obasanjo regime and later minister of petroleum.

2. Buhari birthed and supervised the establishment of the existing refineries in NIGERIA.

3. He was head of state between 1983-1985 (a period of 20 months).
There was no religious crisis while he was head of state.

4. He reduced inflation from 23% to 4% by fiscal discipline and home grown economic team (not achieved under any other era).

5. J.J. Rawlings of Ghana took over 2 years before him and killed all the corrupt leaders, while Buhari only sentenced the corrupt leaders in Nigeria to prison.

6. Under his watch as PTF chairman, what he did in road construction in that short period hasn’t been matched by 12 years of the PDP. Hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits as they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time.

7. He refused to collect allowance while serving as chairman of the PTF because he said he was already drawing a pension from government, his conscience would not allow him to draw another salary from the purse of same government.

8. He returned excess money spent to purse of government on his return from oversea training as a military officer

9. He is the only former head of state that does not own property or land in Abuja.

10. Buhari personally recommended late Dora Akunyili to OBJ because of her diligence during PTF interaction.
Every attempt to rubbish him through probes in time past ended up vindicating him! The man who was asked by OBJ to take over PTF before it was scrapped with the aim of indicting Buhari ended up being prosecuted for misappropriating $100 million of PTF funds!

11. His personal driver and cook of many years are christians
He has OPENLY challenged those who accuse him of religious fundamentalism to come out and show proof. No one has till today taken up the challenge.

12. He is the ONLY politician in northern Nigeria today who fills rallies without renting a crowd!
People who know him (including pastor Bakare) have said of him……” All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank”.

If honesty and probity are the things you want for Nigeria, now is the time to choose right.

What I would say is , its best to dream of flying , and attempt to fly, there will be failures but through it , you'll learn that you need to gain speed in order to fly/lift off , that process is called discovery and awareness

Reason am bro.

By February, 2015 I have to vote.

I need an alternative to GEJ because he has failed woefully by my average standards. 5 years and we are talking about awarding projects contracts and startup of constructions. When the three big elephants in the rooms are not functional: Security, Power and Refineries.

What viable option do I have? Mind you I have supported GEJ in the past.

Nigerians and their wicked insincerity! This jobless op trying to compare oranges with apples should go get a life! Irrespective of political cum social, religious or whatever inclination or bias, if we as Nigerians truly want our country to progress, then we should give credit when we ought to and condemn when something is wrong, that is how it is done in civilized climes. Now what was the state of Nigerian railway system prior to the regime of GEJ, was it even in existence? Now you have the temerity to compare with countries that have a culture and system of perennially running railway system with added advantage of improvement to the existing infrastructure to Nigeria that is more or less starting from the scratch! You dare to compare railway system of Nigeria with that of the developed world, since when did we start to rub shoulders with the first world? Do you think we would wake up one-day and start competing with the wave of a magic wand? My fellow countrymen and women, it is a gradual process with determined effort. That is how South korea, UAE, Brazil etc achieved success. Even if we buy electric supersonic trains, do we have the infrastructure to utilize it or is with the 4000 megawatts that we currently produce? The fact is that while Nigeria was busy changing military regimes and electing mediocre presidents, the rest of the world left us behind, and with the advent of cheap and accessible internet, a majority of us discovered to our shame and consternation, how much we have been left behind. Those trumping up Buhari as the messiah that would clean the Augean stable is either not discerning enough to know that Buhari is already on the part to senility, is not versatile and does not have what it takes to steer the ship of an emerging and complex nation like ours, or are driving by an overriding tribal sentiment. Secondly, how are we sure that Tinubu is not hoping on the Yaradua treatment, what if Buhari dies on assumption of office, since he is already old, would Osinbajo take over? would the north accept that? would the unity of Nigeria not threatened again or would Osinbajo be asked to step aside when he knows he has the constitutional right to takeover? We should all ponder over these and more when we blindly follow politicians that obviously have selfish agendas.
