Safari29:Jonathan was considering the consequences of an all out war. The civilian casualties and all that. He was instrumental to the amnesty stuff in the Niger Delta! He was hoping to achieve the same feat. Get peace without shedding of innocent blood. Besides, was he wrong? Are Boko Haram members are aliens? Are they not Nigerians? For that, he was tackled, called names and blamed. He offered amnesty. He was tackled, called names and blamed. He declared state of emergency. He was tackled, called names and blamed. Ad what do you mean by kid gloves? Weill you support Jonathan to bomb every house, market, hospital ad mosques in Borno State? |

noblezone:What about all the budget for security? noblezone:do you think nigerians aren't exposed to the history of the civil war? Obasanjo, in his book MY COMMAND, listed all the countries that fought in support of biafra likewise those that supported nigeria, so stop trying to twist facts that existed before you were born, especially when they came from a man(OBJ) that fought in the war and also accepted the letter of surrender from the biafrans noblezone:definitely not the bigotted there was a country. noblezone:the soldiers fought and defeated biafra and ojukwu and not ordinary civilians who only wished them well. Do you expect civilians to pick up arms against boko haram? The vigilantes that have such have been frustrated by the government of GEJ. noblezone:ii don't support the killings but when your people were killing their leaders and making jest out of the act in their own land by throwing up cartoons and making bread labels with such, dancing In public in the north, what did your leaders do? Did they caution them? Stop playing the saint here. noblezone:which leaders? Name names. GEJ has the police, NSCDC, army, navy, airforce, etc yet he's unable to make a single arrest. That shows he's actually the one sabotaging his government. His state of emergency bore no fruit other than worsen the matter. You guys like to claim APC sponsors boko haram but fail to view this angle: how can they sponsor insurgents to disrupt the peace in a region that is their stronghold and where they expect to get more votes? Just doesn't add up. |

meccuno:go and read obasanjo's MY COMMAND where he listed all the mercenaries that fought for both sides. You can't claim to know more that obasanjo, a man who fought in the war and received biafra's letter of surrender, especially when you were not born then. |

I am surprised that this thread has lasted this long thanks to noblezone. I personally opened a similar thread earlier this year before the Nairaland virus attack and guess what all Of them Got Quiet. They know themselves. THE HYPOCRISY HERE IS THE MOST GLARING............... I have no patience when people cry of Igbo being very aggressive, arrogant and greedy. Igbos have learnt from the painful experience and the hate they suffered from all corners of the country. Now they are fighting back with the ONE NIGERIA game you played on them. Cry me a river for all I care. Igbos have expanded their businesses beyond Nigeria. Go and ask the Chinese, Koreans, Ghanaians, Ivorians, south African etc. SHUTTING DOWN IGBO BUSINESSES in your enclave is the worst you can do but we have grown beyond your wildest expectations. We can finance any war against us and will defeat you fair and square. The powers that supported you in the past HATE you now. Shut up and accept the destiny your grandfathers chose for you. ONE Nigeria forever and ever. AMEN |

eighTHREAD:If you have read what one of the so-called Obasanjo's brigade commanders had to say about his dumbass G.O.C, you will probably stay away from quoting Obasanjo. Obasanjo remains a typical Yoruba. I can easily say that you are ill-informed. The so-called Ewu Na Ebe Akwa song which the goofy Nowo Omogui claimed to be the root of taunting and by Igbo artist was in fact an Ijo. The distribution of photos of the corps of Ahamdu Bello and Tafawa Balewa which was allegedly attributed to Igbo market women in Northern region was actually done by New Nigerian Newspapers in Kaduna in order to incite unrest. |

eighTHREAD:The police, NSCDC, army, navy, airforce, etc you are mentioning have members among them who loyalty belongs to a course other than that of Nigeria. Soldiers are being betrayed into th hands of Boko Haram by fellow soldiers. Di you ever read, that Nigerian soldiers were betraying fellow Nigeria soldiers into the hands of Biafrans? Anyway, I don't see any far this will take us, since your reliable source is OBJ. Somebody, just wrote "Watch the Watcher" saying that OBJ is a liar! |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by Safari29: 4:05pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
noblezone:like what kinda support do u want gej to have after having the police army airforce international help at his disposal? The thing is he is too slow to act and people are dying everyday from those goats hand. If it had been Gowon am sure he wudnt show any mercy, that is even if he allows Bokoharam to grow self. how did Obasanjo resolved Odi crises?? |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by Nobody: 4:10pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
noblezone:why don't he fish them out and prosecute them? Pls don't tell me the ill-equipped soldiers that protested are the ones sabotaging his efforts. noblezone:why would they when they were well equipped? noblezone:watch the watcher which was sponsored by jonathan. Most of what obj wrote are what ordinary nigerians are aware of. |

eighTHREAD:Biafra did not surrender to any particular sector commander but to Nigerian armed forces. It happened that one dumbass GOC in the theatre of war was the most senior military officer in the absence of Head of State or even Chief of Staff Supreme HQ. |

Y1bos and their warped reasoning. If Gowon was as clueless as GEJ, will there still be a country called Nigeria today. If Yar Adua was as clueless as GEJ, will ND not still be restive today? Gowon and Yar Adua did what they had to do to keep the sovereignty of the country they were the C-in-C. Mr. Mandela of Otuoke, the Jesus Xt of Doyin Okupe should do whatever it takes to keep the sovereignty of the country during his own time too. Presidents are not being called one just to get drunk and lavish in the splendour of the office. |

eighTHREAD:so how come all the documentaries I watched, the books I have read about the war,the secret CIA cables on the civil war and what was passed down by those who fought the war,it is obasanjos book that would tell me the countries supported the biafrans? Mind you, the israelis had their own problems in 1967....the russains wanted to make deals with ojukwu in supply for ammunitions which he refused.....I wonder where the italians, germans, spanish came from......please list other sources other than obasanjos my command to prove your point.....because I know that obasanjo was an engineer not in the intelligence department......even his book my command to an extent had be countered by some of his peers in the army.....mind you,I had an obsession about knowing exactly what happened during the war.....so I know what am saying....don't mis inform people please..... |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by Nobody: 4:20pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
Safari29:So, are you proposing that Jonathan should order a full scale air bombardment of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states? The army should shoot everything on sight? Streets, homes, hospitals, markets, churches, mosques, schools, what have you? For the death of Boko Haram members, northern leaders like Buhari are aralready complaining! What do you think will happen if the cruel method of OBJ is employed? Mind you, Odi is still in court! |

meccuno:pls check the link below to see that biafra got support from foreign nations. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biafra and also en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Civil_War |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by Safari29: 4:32pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
noblezone:nope am not advocating for that. The thing is Jonathan shouldn't have allowed them to grow to a full blown terrorist group. bokoharam was just an Islamic sect just like nasfat when Jonathan took over. since he allowed them to grow this big he is the leader he should find whatever means to end their menance. but for 6 years he has failed to stop them. We can't continue with him please admit it. GEJ failed woefully in terms of security. Gowon did not fail |

eighTHREAD:If you cannot understand the simple act of Biafran surrender to Nigeria, how could you understand the intrigue surrounding the "assistance and moral support by certain countries as oppose to military and political support Nigeria received from Britain, USSR, Canada, Australia, Cameroon, Niger, Chad, Egypt, Arab League of Nations? |

eighTHREAD:did u actually read the wikipedia source you gave to me? You made it sound as if they supported biafra militarily.......and the african countries there only recognised biafra....there was no military support......the mercenary that actually fought which was shown on t.v where the south africans.......and I repeat....the british provided all the ammunition that they required including the russians.....the americans were neutral.......so where did you get the ITALIANs? The ISREALIs?? They were fighting a war of their own.....the SPANISH The GERMANS This guy don't make me believe that you actually wrote the post as a form of comic relief...... |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by meccuno: 4:57pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
bakynes:oga....I have watched the video a million times....I know of the Belgian mercenary not the french.....and moreover how many were they? You talk as if a battalion of foreign mercenaries came to fight against the federal troops......am sure they were not up to 15....... |

meccuno:keep quiet and read. I gave you OBJ's account, you claim it's false. I gave you wikipedia, you also claim it's false that It's only support and assistance. What's support ans assistance if it didn't come in a military form? |
| Re: Biafra: Was Gowon Clueless? by bakynes(m): 5:01pm On Dec 31, 2014 |
meccuno:A south African white man was also there you are right but they also assisted with ammunition as well. Nigeria also got ammunition supply from Foreign countries as well. |

Maybe yu have never been told before or you dont know the history of biafrans war or yu just want to pretend that buhari never dont any harm against the biafrans peoples.. Pls no matter What is happening now.. We should never forget or ignored our history We re biafrans, and it s part of our heritage.. |

I really can't phantom the logic behind this thread. Nigerians are not against Gej on the issue of Boko Haram but more against his attitude in the fight against terrorism. Gowon showed will and zeal to fight the uprising, Gej never believed in the threat of BH until some few months ago. Will Gowon have waited 2 weeks after Chibok girls were kidnapped to make a statement? On the issue of insurgency, Ebele is clueless. |

The bottom line is Ojukwu should have seek for a peaceful separation instead of declaring another territory under the Nigerian Nation. It's an act of War he was fore warned but he didn't listen. So why blame Gowon and the Nigerian people for throwing their weight behind him. |
