what are u saying? the same history books say that humans evolved from africa.....does that mean europeans, chieset etc should claim africa? if you wanna go by history teachings or the Bible you will have to chase the egyptians from egypt as the pyramid was not built by the arabs/muslims; as there was nothing like islam then. Spain would be taken over by the arabs because that was their land before the spaish chased them out. turky controlled half of europe thru the ottoman empire...so the turks should tell the germans and french and co to leave their historical land? do you even know that the english got full control of england in 1026, after defeating the vikings of norway? so make norway go claim eglad as their own? since israel is claiming palestine due to historical claims?

proxillin:
Palestine got what ?

All history books including Your Quran and bible all recorded Jewish kingdom in Jerusalem. Read the history of roman conquest of jerusalem and roman colonialism of Jerusalem.

Why must we suppress the truth ? This is too bad ...men are really wicked

I always keep on hearing about plans to islamise Nigeria. While I know there are fundamentalists....tell me, how possible would it be for anyone using government powers to islamise the country...without provoking war.?

In Chad in the 70's....one of their leaders tried to make everyone follow the culture of his tribe....of course there was war....which took chad years to come out from.

And we saw the effect of the Islamisation issue in Sudan....the breakup of the country (Garang wanted it to stay united....but even he could not stop the inevitable).

So tell me....while I know that there are some jokers who actually want to do this....how would Nigeria be islamised without there being one big war that would make Somalia look good? pLUS...MILLIONS of naira of investments lost....especially by many of the same islamist hausas that you think want to do this. Plus the hig refugee crisis. Plus the millions dead, and wounded. Plus the eventual threat of foreign itervention? And is the Christian faith of Nigerians so weak that they would suddenly change religion at the drop of a hat. Would any leader...even a Muslim...risk decades of relative stability for some silly fantasy?

Please....stop scaremongering. We must fight this elections on the issues....the most important of which is the reduction of the oil price. Not on silly scaremongering that would only create more problems.
Nice one sir. You have made some valid points but speaking from experience, the average northern Muslim is a fanatic and will do virtually anything to enforce Islam.
While Buhari might indeed have no such plans for Nigeria, the same can't be said of his supporters up north. They see every religion as a threat that must be eliminated and I can cite several instances to support that.

Yes! I know Jonathan has not performed up to expectations but still, I ll prefer a president who can guarantee the relative peace the Christians in the south are enjoying over a president that can be easily swayed into fueling religious war.

I dare Buhari to come out boldly and say with his own mouth that no one will Islamatise Nigeria during his tenure.
The fate of this election depends on who the south west and middle belt support but religious extremism that may explode with a Buhari presidency has constantly restrained me from voicing my support for him.
This is the time for him to clear the air on this issue because he has been really quiet on the issue of Book Haram and Christian's persecution in the north!
God bless Nigeria

I can't figure out what is actually wrong with the Muslim umma, evenly the academia. It is funny why a professor would link a foreign policy to a religious inclination. I am disappointed at prof Isaq and his irrational write up here. What would he say about Saudi Arabia denying Nigeria a landing Permit so as to bring procured arm from pakistan? If Boko Haram ain't an Islamic arm wing, why would Saudi Arabia do that to us simply because the arms are meant to fight the Boko Haram? Again, it is unfortunate that a professor would see Israel as a Christian state. I put to the clueless professor that the body he represents or chairs is not recognised by the Hausa Muslim as no Hausa Muslim recognises a Yoruba man a true Muslim talk more of making him a head of a religious body. Allow the government to handle all foreign affairs of this magnitude as we have all to gain being in the side of Israel than Palestine.

If indeed Israel offered us weapons and assistance how come we are buying arms from Pakistan?

I'm interested in the official reasons why Nigeria abstain from voting. I hope is not because of the above. Internally Jonathan shot himself in the legs with this because he has lose another chunk of minute votes he'll get from the Muslims.

Externally what's the benefits for us? Did the benefits outweigh the harms. Is this decision not going to draw the focus of the enemies of Israel on Nigeria? If it does, do we have the capabilities to take them on? If we don’t, are the Israelis and the Americans ready to budget part of their resources to fight them?

They should give us the official reasons why they abstain from voting?
if i may ask.... who should we have supported?

Many of were asking what Nigeria s benefiting from Palestine, but failed to analyse what we are benefiting from Israel. Nigeria refused to vote for or against is a clear indication that we voted against Palestine. We are making more enemies than friends, world powers (Israel, US, Britain etc) dont like us, we are being used to achieve their ambition. There are serious internal problems begging to be solved and affecting Nigerians; instead we are meddling with international affairs. Forming ally with Isreal was a great mistake on the part of Mr President (I dont know how we have benefited from that), we are multi religious nation that suppose to use that opportunity to preach for Religious Tolerance.
So, how does voting in favor of Palestine preach religious tolerance?

Yes....and I happen to know that many Northerners have business dealings/interests with Southerners.

You really think that Buhari would allow any destabilisation based on religion, even from his own country people?

Abeg....Islamisation of Nigeria is not going to happen. Not because Nigeria has no fundamentalists....but because there are too many things at stake. Loss of millions, loss of lives.

They have been telling us for thirty years and over that they wan Islamism Nigeria. Meanwhile...Muslims have been hearing about how America and the Zionists want to oppress them. for those of u still supporting the israeli occupation of west bank, in case u r not aware see wetin the supreme court in israel said last week about another illegal settlement....

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's supreme court has ordered Israeli authorities to demolish one of the oldest and most contentious Jewish settlement outposts in the West Bank.

The court on Thursday said the hilltop outpost of Amona must be evacuated within two years.

Amona was established in 1995 on private Palestinian land without Israeli government permission.

In 2006, Israeli police demolished nine homes at the outpost, setting off a bloody clash of settlers and supporters against police and soldiers. Several dozen trailers have remained.

The government put off dismantling the rest of the outpost, despite court deadlines. Settlers also claimed to have retroactively bought some of the land where the outpost sits, though the Palestinian landowners claim some of those sales were fictitious.

Palestinians want to establish a state in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

well said bro. The average Yoruba Muslim loves his neighbor irrespective of their religious inclination but same can't be said for those Muslims up north.
Can you imagine, I heard an Hausa woman was jubilating when she heard her son died as a suicide bomber while killing some 'infidel'?

I am not for or against any political party right now. What else can a man lay down other his life in order to win a battle? These people (some of them) volunteer to kill others with their life and you say so much is at stake. If an unstable government should in one way or the other suggest a religious sentiment come 2015, the ensuing violence will be too much for even the president to handle be it Buhari or Jonathan.

While Israel has offered us weapons, experts and assistance in tackling Boko Haram, even at the caution of the US..the arab world's relation to the issue is possible sponsorship. The Libyans have sold the weapons they're using to kill themselves to terrorists in Mali and Nigeria, showered on them by the ignorance of the United States. The Saudis have blocked Nigerian flights from entering their airspace once we started buying weapons from Pakistan (should be noted that Pakistanis are not Arabs). Now the want to make noise because Nigeria recognizes Israel and not Palestine.

While there are arabs and their lackeys in Africa killing and enslaving black africans every day they want us to stand in adversity to one of the only nations that has offered Nigeria assistance in these trying times.

Let Palestine offer us assistance and help before we can do the same. As it stands we'll work with those that work with us, not against.

Actually...there is a peace agreement...the Oslo accordof 1993.

The sticky issues are

1.Jewish settlements in Palestinian land.(MOST set up after 1967).

2.The right of return of Palestinian Arabs to villages and settlements in Israel proper that they left behind in 1948....

3.The status of East Jerusalem....should it be Palestinian capital...or Israeli Capital.?

Like i said....it is complicated....and if there is anyone to blame....it is the old Roman Emperor Titus....and Hadrian who drove out most Jews between 70-132AD.
actually ,i'm very much familiar for the tussle over Jerusalem...

I must confess you are quite informed, educated, and exposed.

It is far more complicated than that. A large minority of Palestinians are Christians.Palestine is also relatively secular....compared to some other Arab countries.(Hamas controlls just the Gaza Area).
Then they are waiting to become an independent state to start killing and marginalizing the minority christians as is happening in other muslim majority countries
Re: Supreme Council On Islamic Affairs Condemn Nigeria’s Stand On Palestine Issue by Nobody: 1:15pm On Jan 02, 2015
I feel the major obstacle to d resolution of this age long problem is the status of Jerusalem which has strong religious undertones.....The Muslims conquered it under the Caliph Umar....the Jews have since reconquered it....the Muslims Cant just accept that, rather, they want it partitioned into two, with the part that carries the temple mount (east Jerusalem) as the capital of Palestine.....which I don't think is possible
