LouisVanGaal: These fools have refused to accept that General Buhari current handlers are far wiser than the okupes, Abati, omokris of these world. And of recent, the randy ffk. Surely, the time for change is now. |

nduchucks:its perjury to lie on oath. If its true that the Military board secretary is not in possession of the said certificate, its perjury. INEC's legal department and even the AG federation can maintain an action for perjury against him. And if he ends up not presenting any school certificate as stipulated by section 131(1) of the CFRN,that a bigger issue, cos he is thereby not qualified. I wish they find the said certificate,GEJ won't have it this easy. |

nduchucks:The legal proceeding would be that Buhari lied to the court (perjury) by saying his credentials are with the Military. If the military fail to present his credentials during the legal proceeding, then Buhari is fried. This is my theory: Buhari couldn't find his credentials. He then tried getting a photocopy from his file in the Military. The Military, just like the typical government agency who don't have a good record keeping tradition, realised that they can't even find Buhari's photocopies. Thus Buhari and the APC decided to put the blame on the Military by swearing an affidavit indicting the Military of being in custody of his credentials. What Buhari fail to realise is that the Military will always want to absolve itself of any blame. And they could do that by denying ever being with Buhari's credentials. And if they do that, it means Buhari has committed perjury. |

barcanista:If the Military don't come out to accept being in custody of Buhari's credentials or if Buhari don't present his credentials to INEC himself, be rest assured that there will be enough grounds for litigations. Note: I said litigations, not litigation. |

The op's observations were my exact thoughts. Obviously Nairaland moderators have not been able to put their personal interest in check in projecting news to the frontpage. How dare you put such kind of news with a faceless voice on the frontpage and credit it to the army..... Such a weighty assertion must have at the very least an iconic face to it. I demand the news be removed from frontpage. |

lekkie073:there's no office called secretary of the board in army. What they have is 'Military Secretary' and he doesn't keep officers certificates. I know high ranking officers in the army. And they are all in possession of their certificates. |

Obinoscopy:That perjury case would be impossible to prove, if it ever gets to court. For obvious reasons, individuals cannot bring a criminal case of perjury against Buhari, and I don't see how any law enforcement authority will bring such a charge, in the current political climate. This issue is a mere distraction from dealing with more important issues which should be addressed by both GEJ and Buhari. We, as a country will suffer for this irresponsible act of distraction. My own theory is that Buhari's certificate has been lost by the authorities for quite some time. However, the certificate is not an issue because you don't get to rise to the position of a General, successfully pass through several millirary courses (some at the master's level), in Nigeria and abroad, if you do not have the qualifications reflected on the said certificate. We should be holding Buhari's feet to the fire by demanding that he shares his vision for Nigeria with us in more details, instead of wasting time on this certificate saga. We already know that GEJ is a failure. |

Obinoscopy: In otherwords, u think the military has misplaced the Generals credentials in their disposal right? This is surely another good reason to heap curses on the CinC under his watch the military can be so useless both at the Battle front and even in the office. ![]() Let the litigations begin biko, it will keep the enemy busy. ![]() |

nduchucks:An individual can bring a suit against GMB on this issue,it has its procedures. If u want us to forget this distraction, you might as well toil with constitutional criteria, and it doesn't speak well for the polity. If he has the certificate required,he should tender it,that's the law. Let's not make excuses for him, we experience this when looking for employment, unless you runz it,which is corruption |
| Re: Did The Military Really Deny Muhammadu Buhari's Claim? by nduchucks: 12:24pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
Montaque:I don't think an individual can bring a criminal case against anyone, only law enforcement bodies can do that. |

barcanista: Yes ke.... ![]() I love it whenever I use Jonathanians words to hit them real hard. If military misplaced Buhari's credentials, who else should we criticise if not CinC Jonathan himself under whose watch these guys have suddenly become incompetent in all areas. Ordinary paper, they simply can't keep again. |

I cannot believe a man that rose to rank of Major General in the army is unable to present a certificate. I hope Buhari understands the damage, he is doing to the army as an institution. There are thousands of army officers living without their pensions today, because they were not able to authenticate their credentials. |

Montaque: If peeps do not pay for their incompetence, how will others learn? In my world, all forms of failure are frowned out. If heads don't row within the military because some goons choose not to do their paid job, why should the CinC be excused? |
| Re: Did The Military Really Deny Muhammadu Buhari's Claim? by Obinoscopy(m): 12:40pm On Jan 03, 2015 |
nduchucks:Why do you think so? Proving it is very simple. The plaintiff would simply include the Military as a witness or a co-defendant and request that they provide Buhari's certificate. If the military fail to provide it then the case has been proved. The military is the key in this case. For obvious reasons, individuals cannot bring a criminal case of perjury against Buhari, and I don't see how any law enforcement authority will bring such a charge, in the current political climate.I know that no law enforcement authority will bring forth a charge but what makes you say individuals cannot bring a criminal case of perjury against Buhari? An ambitious upcoming lawyer who wants to be popular like Falana might just take up the case. Also PDP politicians can as well. Even concerned nonpartisan citizens could bring up a case against Buhari. We're in a democracy where everyone has a right to sue and be sued. This issue is a mere distraction from dealing with more important issues which should be addressed by both GEJ and Buhari. We, as a country will suffer for this irresponsible act of distraction. You are right. But unfortunately, this is one of the feature of democracy. Distractions will always abound. My own theory is that Buhari's certificate has been lost by the authorities for quite some time. However, the certificate is not an issue because you don't get to rise to the position of a General, successfully pass through several millirary courses (some at the master's level), in Nigeria and abroad, if you do not have the qualifications reflected on the said certificate.Bros you are a learned fellow. Thus you should know the phrase: "If it was not documented, then it never happened." If you don't have your documents to prove you are a graduate, then you are not a graduate. That's why people are ready to go to any lengths to get his or her papers. I've seen people with BSc certificate who can't spell their names but they were employed nonetheless based on their certificate. That's the system we live in my brother, we just have to accept it's pros and cons. We should be holding Buhari's feet to the fire by demanding that he shares his vision for Nigeria with us in more details, instead of wasting time on this certificate saga. We already know that GEJ is a failure.Guys are already demanding to know his vision for the country so don't worry about that. This is the beauty of democracy, there will be opposition and counter-opposition. APC should be ready for more of such even if they eventually win. This is democracy not militocracy. |

In this case, he has already sworn an affidavit in court claiming that the certificate is with the military board. Anything other than what he swore in the affidavit means trouble for him. |
