A friend gave me a call this early hour of today, asking me if she can pay #250,000 to a FRSC official who demanded it from her before she would get employed... Any reasonable answer to save her ass...

There is nothing you can do to change the situation now . The question is , are those getting these jobs not entitled to the same opportunity you are demanding , ofcourse the answer is yes. are they not capable of doing the job ? most times the answer is yes also . so there is actually nothing to fight about here , all you need do is keep pushing so you can get to that level where you can help your friends and families in times like this . it is not only in Nigeria. it is known globally , contacts and networking is a sure way in securing a job.

Your reasoning is very myopic, it seems you can't differentiate between right and wrong.

Its not about this regime. It is done in western countries as well. Forget about the fact that it's a government job.

Just last month, a friend of mine was employed in my office and he receives 300k per month. My director was so in need of someone with engineering background for one of our projects and he asked me if I could refer someone. After much thinking about who could possibly fit because I won't want to refer someone who is not capable, I ask 3 of my colleagues who did msc with me in the UK to forward their CV. One of them got the job.

Now tell me how this is the fault of the present government?

Having noticed that majority of this generation are not ready to do things in the proper way, it is safe to say that we will make the same mistakes our fathers made and our unborn children will make the same complains we are making.

Let us hope our unborn generations are ready to ignore our poor life choices and endure the heat of their youth to enjoy their future as well as create a better atmosphere for their own successors.

When you have a leader that
swims in corruption, a leader that that goes about dancing in the name of campaign when is country
is in turmoil, a leader that was able to release his
kidnapped uncle within a day or two and yet
cannot tell Nigerians anything tangible about our
missing girls, a leader that told Nigerians that boko
haram are in his cabinet yet does nothing about it, A leader that goes about harassing people that try
to challenge him, i can go on and on. I'm very sure
Nigerians including myself are still in doubt that this
is the same man that claim he has no shoes.

This over-grown cancer had been in this country for years during the time of the military, I find some comments quite stupid and it breaks my heart that some educated graduate relates most problem to the present government. We need people solution to this.

I dropped my CV through a contact at an agency under FMST. This agency is along airport rd Abuja. Few months after, I was called for an interview. I was offeredthe job. Though d recrurecruitment exercise was shady, I asked one of d agency's director y d openings were not advertised, he said they won't b able to manage d number of applications if these openings were made public, and that some powerful people in d national assembly would definitely hijack d process from them. Majority of us recruited either had a first class or 2:1 in in engineering or science related disciplines.

Getting government job in our beloved country is based on the principle of Man-Know-Man or Who-You-Know. Very pathetic. Our government are coded in executing its policies as well. They only execute what will favour the government and not the masses. Brother, learn from this and sojourn on. You just learnt a bitter lesson but that is the reality. Don't loose hope, hope is frail but hard kill.

its terrible my brother! tho i am not a party person, but i tell u; even if GMB wins, this errorneous act will not stop!

reason: GMB will not go from one office to another to checkmate what transpires! he will employ people to do so, and these people are liable to corruption!

Every Nigerian needs to change his/her thinking, ways, I.M(know person) kind of character!

I feel ur pain so much because i was once a victim!

In 2011 or there about, i paid about 1,000 or 1,500 for NSITF recruitment. After the exam that accomodated over 5,000 candidates, i was called up for interview after few months of writing d exam.
After the interview, we were told that we all qualified, but our names will be sent to FCC for further scrutiny, since they planned using quota system!

To my greatest surprise, majority of those that were employed never went through the process(no registration fee, no exam, no interview)! All they did was go to their sponsor(a senator or house of rep member) and get a letter! Take the letter to NSITF boss, start documentation! you can check the 2011 NSITF thread!

From that day, i swore never to apply for any govt job!

God will help us all!

try and register for YOUWIN; you can never tell, it might be ur turn to be awarded

Gracias!

I don't believe coded appointment or secret interviews are part of networking in any civilised society. We want there be job scarcity when the people in-charge are unwilling to let go the vacant seat. What do you see of a situation whereby someone was been given appointment and the employer tells the new start that" the position you are occupying is just for the main time, that the real occupant of the seat is still in school". Should we call that networking too?
define appointment man , this case you have just put up is totally different from what you argued on earlier . you have the right to take an employer that dismisses you without any wrong doings on your path to court . you dont need anyone on a social network tell you this.

Dis man kno man neva really started in dis regime, but it was mostly vry coded, but wen dis regime came it became a normal thing to pay b4 u can get a job,it's nt even hidden anymore, where pple who did nt even apply for a job r asked to pay large sum of moni to or a letter is being given to dem to resume d same positions where pple might have even lost their lives in d process of either during exams or interviews.
Hmmm it has become part of us, especially dis regime. May God help us.

A friend of mine who works with PENCOM shared the below with me. Read... It is an eye opener.

In 2012 I think, PENCOM asked for qualified people (Graduates and Experienced folks) to submit their handwritten application at their Abuja office and a lot of people sent in their application.

I was told it became a problem for them at work because these applications were occupying space that they had to create a room for it.
He claimed that after several weeks of submission without a single processing, the director just walked in one morning and asked them to burn everything.

I asked him how people were then selected if they burnt everything. "Was there an online application?" I chirped. He scorned and was surprised at the ignorant question I had asked him. I was disappointed in myself as a Nigerian because I already knew what he meant was that the positions had been occupied even before the vacancies were rolled out.

He further educated me that there are countless directors all over the country who had personal assistants and secretaries of parastatals who had concubines who had a graduate in their family or a wife or a cousin who needed job DESPERATELY. He told me that in all these departments we have HODs, Auditors, Supervisors and Senior civil servants who had a neighbor and a friend who has someone who needed a job. Remember this is in-house cabals.

Looking at it from the macro level, we have governors, LG chairmen, Reps (Federal and State), business men, god-fathers, family members, Senators, High caliber people who would nominate someone who knows someone who knows someone who needed a job.

Dont also forget that it is also customary to give slots to some of these people and what this implies is that at the end of the day, the available positions are consequently not even enough amongst themselves. THAT IS THE SITUATION.

Only a negligible few get these jobs through merit and grace.

The problems are:
Corruption
Nepotism
Favoritism
Greed and Lack of empathy by our so called recycled leaders.

That is why it is paramount that in the coming weeks we make the best decision for our future and children future through our votes.
you just nailed it.
