Digital city ko...Analog city ni...as a resident of Calabar the first question that arose in my mind when i saw this post was "how does this put food on the table of that poor woman selling tomatoes at marian market or the struggling youth selling okrika at the watt market shopping center. i think it is high time we have a Government that is people-centered rather than propaganda based. How can you feel the effect of digitalization in an area like mine where there has been no sign of electricity for the past 9 months? yet the utility providers keep pelting you with outrageous bills. The sooner our political leaders indulge in self-empowerment projects for the masses the better! I rest my case.
there is no place in the world without poor people
if we all begin to reason it that way,How do we go forward?

You see stuff like this and you tend to ponder on what the other state Governors do with state funds.

Thumbs up, Liyel Imoke, the pace setter. I wish my own state Governor could be this smart even if it's for 30 seconds!!!

actually they're not seeing the oil money anymore. they lost all their wells to akwa ibom, now even imo state produces more oil than they do.
they're in serious debt because all the cash and loans used in the tinapa project (it was 100 percent govt, can you believe that?) has not been recouped, since abuja bureaucracy choked the project and left it impotent. now it just lies there and goes to rot because the free-trade-zone it would have benefitted from was killed off due to abuja politics during obasanjo's tenure.
and sadly, goodluck jonathan did nothing about it, or is doing too little too slow.

cross river is in very very serious debt.
sry pls re u d accountant general of the state?

Now this is how a lazy man think

We are not in socialism

The digital infrastructure is an enabler and it will assist the woman to use a pos efficiently it will assist the tax man to access data base seamless it will assist the teacher and school in e learning and it will assist the government in e government

There are so many deriveables

The question is that would the last selling tomatoes upgrade to the new order

So u can't make ur points without throwing insults right? Smh @ "lazy man". Very funny!

Nigeria wilk never progress with this archaic, asinine, and un productive mentality

First time of seeing a lady talk scientifically...but if I may ask what makes a city digital ..I think they should use internet enabled city instead of digital

Nice post

The way some people reason sha, may be it's background. Some are castigating this laudable project. I see this as a powerful opportunity. Lagos too is doing theirs. The opportunities abound. Players and people with brilliant ideas will create huge markets on how to take advantage of this immense opportunity. The funny thing is some foreign tech companies are seeing this and thinking of how to take maximum opprotunity of this. Yet, when they come we will still be the one to scream they are ripping us off. Think People Think Fam.

What qualifies a city to be called a digital city in the first place? Is it the fibre that is buried in the ground and not used for any economic purposes except just to be seen as working.
As much as i get the drift with fibre issues etc i dnt knw how fibres in the duct witout any economic use makes a governor working, things like this are suppose to be private sector driven and not a govt project that adds nothing to the economy of the state.I might be wrong thou
