The excuse may be lame, but northern elders often protect(ed ) Boko Haram. They even kicked against declaring it a terrorist group. As much as I hate what's happening in the north (I'm human with a kicking conscience) I sincerely believe the northerners groomed the Boko Haram. Maybe they saw it as their own version of MEND or NDPVF and didn't imagine the pet dog would ever go wild.

May be you didn't care to know or was outrightly ignorant during Obasanjo and Yar'Adua regimes. Religious lines have always been with us Nigerians from independence except you don't know much about the history of Nigeria. Linking Jonathan to it is a show of ignorance because Bokoharam escalated it to astronomical level.

If GEJ decides to bombard Yobe and Borno the way Odi, Zaki Biam and Gbaramatu were bombarded, some northern elders would still scream blue murder and accuse him of things. My problem with the GEJ man is that he's too respectful, which is not a good attribute of a leader. The illiterate yearnings of some gworo-chewing elders should not sway a president's decisions.

Isn't it high time we stopped beating about the bush?
No rescue mission should be on the table. At least 1.5m people have been displaced n are refugees somewhere. These can be the set of people to start afresh in Borno. Forget about those who cowered in the face of radical Islam and couldn't take a stand to die for their religion of peace. They chose to join Boko Haram n fundamentalist Islam rather than be true martyrs of their 'beloved' peaceful religion.
Now what's left, as unpleasant as it sounds, is an extermination mission of the Borno landscape.
Forget about the northern elders, amnesty intl, and UN. One week of consistent airstrikes, whose primary mission is to level Borno and it's surrounding mountains, should be enough to clear the path for a radical ground assault whose mission is to lay waste to any and every living thing in that State. As a prerequisite to this wonderful mission is a total lock down of every bordering state to Borno.

KILL THEM ALL.
