Buhari Denies Health Concerns, Foreign Trip by dre11(op): 6:20pm On Jan 18, 2015
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari has denied media reports that he was terminally ill and was preparing to go abroad for medical attention. Buhari spoke to reporters at the Rivers State Governors’ Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Sunday. Some Nigerian newspapers and on-line publications (The Punch not inclusive), in their Sunday editions; reported that the former military ruler was terminally ill and has been flown out of the country for medical attention. He said the reports were orchestrated by desperate individuals seeking to use it to gain undue political advantage. The APC candidate also used the occasion to debunk allegations that his tenure at the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund was riddled with corruption. According to him, his tenure at the PTF was thoroughly investigated and the report presented to the then President Olusegun Obasanjo who recently confirmed it. Buhari said, “(a national daily) reported that I was to jet out for medical checkup yesterday but here I am. I was at Nasarawa and Benue states yesterday; tomorrow I am going to be in two states. “The day after tomorrow, in two more states. I am doing two states per day. How they got the impression that I was sick I do not know. Although I got cold and that did not stop me from going through my schedule.” Commenting on medical documents purportedly confirming his alleged poor state of health, Buhari said, “I don’t know of this desperation. “The issue we are telling Nigerians is that of corruption in this country for the last16 years the PDP has literally destroyed this country. “This is the issue and what has my health got to do with that one, have I been sick on daily basis? And (that) document has been put on paper, on tweeter that I am sick and the ABU (Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital) said they are forged documents. This desperation is beyond my understanding.”

When pressed to make a categorical statement on his state of health, Buhari jokingly asked the reporter, “how old are you, 50 years?; I am telling you if go to the field, you would not last the time I will last in the field.” On his stewardship of the PTF, he said, “That one has been cleared. There is no fraud in PTF, there was an investigation and General Obasanjo has answered that question, he confirmed that there was an investigation and the report was brought to him and there was nothing on ground as far as my management and chairmanship of the PTF was concerned. “So what else can I say? The person who did the investigation because he was the Head of State he cleared me so what else can I say?”

These settles all the publication going around that he has being flown aboard for medical attention.

Why did he dignify the desperadoes with a response?
He should av allowed them to wallow in their mischief and self- deceit and come May 29 GMB would be sworn in to start the arduous task of righting this country from the nightmare of GEJ misrule.
Haters can stay and enjoy a new country after may 29 under GMB's trusted rule or follow GEJ to otuoke to enjoy his own peculiar type of cluelessness.

I wonder OOOOOhh !!!!!! The PDP has failed to correctly read a very basic aspect of human behaviour which may have helped the Party to reach Nigerians better. When you wrong or disappoint people who risked a lot to place their faith and lives in your hand then you must humbly show regret and contrition, backed with a sincere will to make amends, if you are to ever win the approval or trust of those people.

The PDP has let Nigerians down badly. Instead of the leaders of the Party to show humility and a readiness to accept what they did wrong and show they see what must be corrected, the very evil and unrepentant PDP has exclusively focused on arrogantly attacking GMB and running a campaign of calumny and character assassination of a candidate (GMB) and his Party (APC) that has zilch to do with the serious problems Nigeria is facing today. If it is not a silly certificate distraction that disgraces Nigeria universally, given that Buhari is a decorated soldier that has contested the Presidential election thrice, they are lying wickedly that Buhari is unwell. Disgusting. This is behavioral human psychology 101 and I am shocked the PDP does not have leaders bright enough to fathom this concept and how much it can hurt the chances of the Party at the polls !!!

The arrogant and unrepentant PDP has now killed itself by not recognising that even the most prodigal of sons can be forgiven if he shows genuine remorse for his actions. What has turned Nigerians off is how a Party that has caused so much deaths, poverty and pain remains so arrogantly disinterested in respecting the people. PDP leaders, because looting our treasury is all they are after, still do not understand that they must deploy an approach centred around placating the ordinary men and women they failed. The approach of making Buhari appear unelectable has backfired horribly . More Nigerians now feel the arrogant PDP is an evil, callous and unrepentant Party with nothing to offer. Buhari has profited massively from this wicked and evil approach of a ruling Party that has failed the people and has no business showing nothing other than complete humility before the Nigerian people.

Immediately I saw the news on NL, I called Prof and he said the General is hale and hearty here in Nigeria.

Vanguard is an archetypal bucket shop junkyard loud mouth newspaper.

The most irrelevant newspaper on the street that has made the internet its toilet.

FACT CHECK: Did Buhari promise not to go abroad for treatment? (updated)

Since Monday when it was announced that President Muhammadu Buhari was going for a medical check-up in London, there have been a lot of controversies. While some argued over the health condition of the president, others revisited some of the promises he made before his emergence in 2015.

The social media was rife with claims that Buhari promised not to go for medical care abroad. A statement in circulation quoted Buhari as making the promise while speaking as a presidential candidate at Chatham House, London, in 2015.

But Femi Adesina, spokesman of the president, was quick to dismiss the rumour, describing it as a new twist on the part of mischief makers.

“The comments are a new dimension in the plot to diminish the stature of President Muhammadu Buhari before millions of Nigerians who love and adore their president. Fortunately, the Chatham House lecture of 2015 is in public domain. The concoction by haters and agents of disunity is not part of the text of the lecture at all,” Adesina had said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

CLAIM: BUHARI SAID AT CHATHAM HOUSE THAT HE WON’T SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT ABROAD

Buhari was alleged to have asked: ”What is the difference between me and those who elected us to represent them, absolutely nothing. Why should the Nigerian president not fly with other Nigerian public? Why do I need to embark on a foreign trip as a president with a huge crowd with public funds? Why do I need to go for a medical trip abroad if we cannot make our hospital functional?’

During the president’s visit to Chatham House in 2015, there was no discussion around him treating himself in Nigeria or overseas.

The health-related issue was on how Ebola was tackled, and Buhari said: ”I think health is one of the areas that had been allowed in those 16 years we have had to deteriorate. The life, especially in the rural areas is pathetic. And because of lack of basic facilities in the rural areas that aggravate the movement of able-bodied bodies to population centres and that has increased the rate of crime because of lack of jobs, lack of facilities, lack of even basic things to survive; So, I think APC government has done a lot of studies and our manifesto has consciously looked at this.

I will continue to document history and no one will play us mumu ludo as we have everything they have said on record. Some of the things Buhari said before elections about health are no longer on their websites to show you how compromised our media is. This is not the time of old school, digital media will archive everything and you won't be able to lie to our faces.
