dre11:Wages is not relevant to this discusses. What is relevant is cost of oil purchase by the Nigeria importers from foreign refineries. They buy at the same price usa domestic marketers pay at the refineries. It Will cost a Japanese in Japan less than it will cost a Nigerian in Nigeria to buy same Japanese car ,because of added cost to get the car to Nigeria. Whatever the salaries disparity have no bearing in determining the price. |

nwanna89:Do you put in effort at work like your counterparts in US? Do you understand what 'fast paced environment' means? Do you think people in the West spend half of their day job on social media? Have you ever submitted your time sheet with approved activities per hour to get paid? How much tax did you pay last year? Ask your friends in the States if they work like you, yet you want Dollar pay. Like OP noted. Our youth suffer from ignorance. |

U on the reverse should engage ur brain in some critical reasoning. Is this the appropriate time to drop gas price if not that something lies beneath such action? The benchmark for putting the budget together was @ $65/barel meanwhile the people bought gas for 97 freakin naira now that the price per barel is $45/barel which sure gon affect how the execution of the budget is gonna play out, 'oga' drop gas price. Does he think Nigerians are stup*d? Now u talkin gas in the US and gas in Nigeria, u can't put this two together man, things are super different. Quick question sir. Do they own oil in the state? Do people buy gas for generator in the states? U fill ur tank and get out of the gas station. They at home gon buy for car, buy for generator. U work u collect 30,000 naira / month in naija, aU work average job here and let's say u get paid $10/hr and u work 60hr in a week (in a week o), do the mathematics and see who go scream pass when talkin buyin gas. Don't let uninformed allegiance blind ur sense of good judgement my friend. |

Bros you foolish Olorun!!! *puts index finger in the mouth, points it to the sky and shrugs* For comparing American and Nigeria was ur beginning of foolishness. I could ve gone into details to expantiate on ur stupidity but that will bring me to your level. The exchange rate you just quoted which was $1 - 184 happened when? Sanusi kept it at #160 for years. Who sacked him? Who installed a clueless cbn gov? Think before u type and pls factor all factors. bishopclin: |

@ OP This comparison won't work on so many levels. Consider certain things 'peculiar' to Nigeria mostly because of the level of rot in the system. 1. Is quality of gasoline in Nigeria the same with what they get in the U.S? No 2. What's the earning power of an average individual in each country? 3. What's the level of development in each country? Don't forget that almost every family is it's own 'local government' in Nigeria. U practically have to produce your own water and electricity amongst other things. 4. Is the level of infrastructure in the oil and gas sector commensurate with the level of resources available in Nigeria? 5. Are Nigerians getting the best out of a liter of gasoline like the Americans? Not with the level of older engines running in the country and the substandard quality of fuel definitely. 6. Is the current level of oil production in the U.S sustainable over a long period of time? I doubt it. Shale oil / fracturing is one of the major reasons why certain OPEC member-states (chiefly KSA and Qatar) have allowed the free fall of crude oil prices to continue unchecked. When you consider these two countries are also strong allies of the U.S, you see it's quite a complex situation. Just this past week, John McCain led a delegation to Qatar to discuss certain issues with the Emir and Prime Minister. I bet the politics of crude oil pricing was part of their major talks. These are just some of the things to consider (amongst many others) before you 'celebrate' the reduction in fuel prices in Nigeria. If our leaders are honest, there's no reason why Nigerians should be paying above 50 naira per liter worst case scenario. Factor in the timing of the Nigerian government in doing this and it's very obvious it shouldn't be considered as a genuine decision. They devalued the Naira and then reduce fuel pump price by 10 naira days to major elections. Nigerians should brace up for serious economic challenges this year because the government is just window-dressing a very terrible wound. Irrespective of whoever wins the coming elections, the Naira is still heading downwards. Figures alone don't always tell the true story of things. |

I didn't know Nigerians were this ignorant If I hear it one more time that the USA has no crude oil eh It doesn't export as much Now stop spreading ignorance [size=18pt]The U.S. will remain the world’s biggest oil producer this year after overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia as extraction of energy from shale rock spurs the nation’s economic recovery, Bank of America Corp. said. |

temmytanny:your one day pay is equal to 15 days pay ,I wonder if you're educated to say the least , comparing the minimum wage to that of Nigeria is total bollocks , why don't you compare your electricity and water tariffs as well not to talk of your house rent , cos I'm sure you can't afford a mortgage , with your Nigerian counterpart , before you start spewing rubbish |

donnypool:That depends on the employer. I believe fulltime officially starts from 28.5 hours and above( not 100% sure). Some employer won't pay overtime till over 37.5hrs, some 40hrs some 48hrs. Depends on the industry and if it's a unionized job or not. |
