Everyone has a right to their own opinion and choices. I don't get why someone will attack another for airing his own opinion because it's contrary to his. We live in a democracy where everyone has a right to choose who they want to lead them, same as we have a right to make our own mistakes. We should learn to treat others with love and respect irrespective of our political affiliation. If you feel your party’s candidate is the best thing after sliced bread – fine, express yourself with your vote at the poll. Henry David Thoreau once said “any man who's more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one.” The majority of the people decides who become their leader and the minority must respect their decision. If sadly, the vast majority of the people decides to choose a “clueless” one to lead them, it is their choice and their choice should be respected.

We all have some emotional attachment to our preferred candidate, that’s understandable, that’s us being passionate about our country. As civilized people, we all want a Nigeria we will be proud of, we all dream of a prosperous Nigeria where peace, unity and the rule of law hold sway but we cannot have a prosperous Nigeria if we keep casting aspersions on one another. We cannot have a healthy relationship if we instead of counter an argument with superior argument result to insult and name calling. We cannot have a peaceful co-existence with other ethnic groups if we do not respect their choices.

I strongly believe that GEJ has done fairly well in diversifying our economy, he has done well in agriculture, transport sector, sports, education, youth empowerment, trade and investment, electoral reform, he has created good policies to enhance economic growth and it is evident in our automobile industry, agro-related industries and many other industries springing up across Nigeria. The power sector cannot be said to be as it used to, it will improve overtime because power plants are not bought off the shelf, it will take some time to build capacity. GEJ has also done well in the fight against corruption by strengthening institutions and using technology to distant Government officials from state fund. We now have a transparent Government. We can see the corruption in this Government because GEJ signed the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill. That cannot be said of past administrations, it was “the more you look, the less you see.”

I’m appealing to my fellow Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan in the coming election. Remember, whatever mistake we make in this coming election cannot be corrected until the next 4 years. Do you want to go back to the land of Egypt where the rule of law was non-existent? Do you really want to go back to the time when freedom of speech was a luxury? Can you bear press / social media censorship for the next 4 years? We have tried Buhari in the past, we know his definition of democracy. We have also tried GEJ and we know what he thinks of democracy. I’ll leave you to decide whose leadership you want: Buhari’s tyranny or Jonathan’s democracy? You choose.
