The old coup plotter contested elections three times before now, he has subjected himself to the democratic process. Again the appeal of Buhari to most Nigerians is the purpose and mission of the coup to cleanse Nigeria of corruption and lawlessness.
So long as the president will open his mouth and say stealing by public servants is ordinary not corruption, buhari remains an attraction. So long as the president will not raise to the occasion when Nigerians are bombed, buhari remains relevant. So long as the president handles am allegation of missing $20bn with levity, Buhari remains relevant.
If Apc had presented anyone, the PDPist will still bring up something to say Gej is a lesser thief or clueless or non-challant leader.
To cleanse Nigeria of corruption and lawlessness you say, But did he achieve that?... How can someone just come into office and start jailing innocent people on trumped up charges of corruptionhuh. Well, GEJ said "stealing is not corruption", Yes, what about Buhari who said Abacha did not steal a dime?...upon all the millions of dollars that the FG are recovering from foreign accounts on an annual basis, That aside, What about all the inflammatory statements that he always makes?. Truth of the matter is this, Buhari does not belong to this generation, apart from the fact that he's old, His time is past. He's just desperate for power, nothing more. His mates( Gowon, IBB, OBJ ) all ruled for eight years, So he thinks is his right too. Well sir, The Nigerian people will decide come next month.

There's nothing wrong with Okey Ndibe, maybe he honestly thought IBB was better than Buhari or he was writing from the perspective of a journalist doing right by his brothers who Buhari had offended. One thing is sure though, after 8 years of IBB, most journalists would contend that Nigeria had jumped from frying pan to fire.

Even Reuben Abati was an eloquent writer,pro-people activist and scholar...where is he today? The pen might be mightier than the sword but its ink often flows to the dictates of the people paying the bills.

Obasanjo did similar things while he was military head of state but Nigerians voted for him to be their civil president on 2 occasions

Everything written there was the truth.

Some of us are here on nairand who witnessed the dark days of Buhari.

When we oppose him, it is not out of hear say.

You are trying to overturn the article by painting Concord black.

You dont have to do that sir. just counter the points raised and tell us what the truth was.

OBJ did not promulgate decrees 2,4 and 20, so stop trying to distort history. Buhari's regime remains the most cruel military regime Nigerians have ever had to put up with, so if you have nothing better to post here, just get lost from here before we wish that you and your family, suffer the same cruelty Nigerians suffered under that evil man.

It's all contained in that cover story.
These are the people who actually witnessed Buhari's administration. The people who saw it, felt it and lived it for almost 2 years of their lives. This is a story written exactly during that period, echoing the voices from the hearts of millions of Nigerians, not dubious tweets from people who would rather rewrite history on Twitter by selling us lies on 4 phantom refineries and fake inflation cuts, just for their own selfish interests.

I will never be a slave to ignorance.
the article only confirmed what we already know... that Bihari (military official that he was) was very strict and brutal. It did not contradict what we also know, that he was not corrupt. So its just impossible to perceive the LIES you stated above.

Also, the article went on to embellish the person of Babangida who is adjudged the sole inventor of the "419 phenomenon".... That's where I gave up on the article.

Just like you, I will never be a slave to ignorance. And I also won't be a slave to prejudice.

Don't mind barcanista, his type would queue up behind Hitler today if he were a Nigerian. They are the type of people who do not learn from history and pride themselves in their ability to distort historical facts. His type are playing a dangerous game under the cover of free speech. It is his type that are today denying the holocaust, people who by their utterances are as guilty as the villains themselves. Perhaps a realistic prayer for his type is for their lives to be so affected by the actions of Buhari, and other villains of history, just the way it affected the lives of the victims of tyranny.

"The clear alternative to this monumental mess is the
person of General Muhammadu Buhari. Let us be clear
that Buhari does not present the total package
Nigerians want at this time. He is human, he is not
perfect. But at this point in our history, at this time, at
this moment, he presents the only viable option and
avenue for the people to vent their frustrations and
anger against an inept and clueless Federal
Government. He represents the rallying point for the
frustrated and teeming masses of our people. He
reminds me of MKO Abiola (with some of his
imperfections) who became the rallying point in the
struggle against military rule."

They say that period was the next after Gen Murtala Muhammed's rehime. A naira exchanged for 2dollars, inflation at its bearest minimum, eberyone was well behaved, no 419, no looters of public treasury, commodities were affordable, etc.

I wish the author of the story could witness Babangida, Abacha and PDP's era... I'm sure he would exhaust a hand full of derogatory superlatives describing the scale of corruption and impunity being witness now.
I was under ten years during Buhari's era. Certain things I can recall... Electricity was reliable and my father kills a ram every Christmas. However, all that went with the 80s

If you say Buhari is daft and dumb for being educated both home and abroad and for being highly spoken of by foreign trainees, world leaders and world experts then how would you rate your President GEJ who spent years in school just to study zoology? Who even studies that today? Was Jonathan so dumb that he couldnt be accepted into any university except on the premise of studying zoology? I bet they were only 10 or less in the lecture hall or even the entire school if not the entire Nigeria. This shows you and GEJ are both incalculably insufferable dullards and frightful cantankerously-caterwauling nefarious vermin
Haaahaaa!! What a tasteless joke!! Buhari is an illiterate!! He never attended ANY ACADEMIC COURSE HOME OR ABROAD!! He only WENT for COMBATANT COURSES..In other words, you man na point and shoot Soldier (we are in a democracy not a military regime). You now see the reason why I believe he's a General in BH. Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has allegedly predicted that the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari will be the next Nigerian President which is why those who are afraid of him are creating so many obstacles on his way, Saying “a general is always a general.

Obasanjo, who was reacting to the controversies generated over the school certificate of General Buhari said: “I see Buhari as the next President and Jonathan is aware of that, and that is the reason they are hitting him everywhere to put confusion in his camp. But a General is always a General… “
Jonathan didn't complete his PhD, Buhari will win this election - Obasanjo

The former President said the truth of the matter is that Jonathan is aware that Buhari is qualified to contest for President election but that “some hawks with Jonathan do not want him to contest because they believed that he will win and come for them.

“The issue (of Buhari’s certificate) came up in 2007, and we investigated and found out that his WASEC is with the military and that was why he was allowed to contest in 2007. Buhari cannot listen to anyone about his certificates because as a General of Nigeria Army, he will speak when he chooses, not by Femi Fani Kayode and Okupe asking him.

Fayose and other corrupt people including Kashamu do not want Buhari because of his anti-corruption slogan.

“Even Jonathan did not finish his PhD course but when it was presented we stated that, it does not matter but many people do not know because it was PDP thing.”

I don't know how much you are being paid to do all this your dirty talks and manipulate the minds of Millions of Nigeria out there. Obasanjo as a Military head of state was not outstanding but as a democratic elected president he was awesome and outstanding (Though I wasn't existing during his first regime to know how true his administration as a military head of state was, But i lived, felt, and was existing during his second regime) Obasanjo and Yar' Adua administrations are the best things that ever happened to Nigeria as a country. Jonathan failed us as a president. We put so much trust in him but he failed us. I will mentioned the area in which Jonathan has failed Nigerians as a president,

1. Power supply. - Even after the power section has been privatized it has gone from worst to worse. In my City(Akure) As a programmer and a graphic designer that works mostly from home. I can't boast of 4 hrs of power supply daily. I have to run generator all day long just to get my job done. That being said to pay your electricity bills U will have to waste a whole day just to do that alone cos of the very long queue at the payment office. The Government has failed us in this section and every Nigerian knows this.

2. Security - We all know how porous our borders are and with the poor immigration policies the country has been rendered unsafe.

3. Corruption - Corruption in Nigeria is at its peak and it's biggest that we ever witnessed and see as a country. 20 billion $ missing ( for Goodness sake Billions of dollars and not 20 naira) 1 trillion from subsidy is still missing. Alams presidential pardon.

This 3 alone can cripple future of a nation. Instead of him to tell us the paln he had for us in the next 4 years and how to solve the problems at hand, He keeps pointing fingers. Dude I'm very sure u are wiser than this Please don't sell your future and the future of your generations for the token u are been paid to rant on this forum. If Buhari is not good as a president after 4 years we can kick his ass out if he fails us. But for now lets get the change we need.
I gave up on reading this your epistle when I got to the bolded part..
