Ambode Trashes Jimi Agbaje At LCCI Debate by adaweezy(op):
[quote]The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode has described the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, as an intern who lacks the cognate experience and competence to lead the great state of Lagos into further excellence.

This he said today as he took part in a private sector interactive forum with governorship candidates of Lagos state that was organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) at the LCCI building in Ikeja.

In his words, Ambode said, “Any first class business entity can understand what it means to entrust an investment in the hands of an employee with long-standing experience as opposed to one that lacks the cognate experience and requirement; there is none of us that will leave as a investment or business in the hands of an intern”.

He added, “This is the same way Lagos cannot afford to substitute experience for experiment in her choice of a leader in the forthcoming elections. It is not going to happen! I am that employee that has the 27-year experience which traverses both the public and private sector, and who strongly believes in the excellence that Lagos deserves”.

He urged the audience to support continuity and never allow inexperience to sabotage the sustained growth that Lagos has enjoyed.

“There is no city like Lagos! Lagos is coming to take over the world. We already have the capacity and political will; what is key is to continue to recreate this great state by entrusting her in experienced and competent hands. I say that Lagos is up for a prosperous outlook come 2015”, said Ambode.

The APC candidate had opened the floor by stating his resolve to serve. He described a successful career that traverses both the public and private sector, while he stressed the experience and deep understanding he had garnered in the span of his productive career.

“I come with a deep understanding of how government works in the public sector and also with cognate experience in the private sector. This gives me the cutting edge skills to excel in the noble task of serving the Lagos State Government.”, Ambode said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President of the LCCI, Alhaji Remi Bello stated that the organization is proud to keep up with the “noble tradition” of creating a platform for Lagos gubernatorial candidates to state their plan and programmes for the state, especially about the ones directly for the private sector, which he described as “the engine of growth” for any meaningful government.

Ambode responded to this charge by stating his novel ideas for Lagos as he fielded questions from the panellists, the audience and even the PDP candidate.

As regards the economy of Lagos, Mr. Ambode assured Lagos not to worry much about the true effects of the dwindling oil prices, promising to add to what the state had always done, which is, a brilliant diversification of the state’s economy.

He said, “Our state’s Internally Generated Revenue already contributes two-thirds towards the thriving of our economy. We will even do much more. I will boost the economy of Lagos by creating programmes that will explore the wealth in the informal sector to complement the economy of the formal sector”.

“We will create more jobs by establishing a Lagos Employment Trust Fund that will empower entrepreneurs and make them employers of both skilled and unskilled labour”, Ambode added.

He also stated his intention to keep on with the transformation in the transport sector. “Our intention is to ensure that our people move from one place to the other with ease. Our Light rail project, the ongoing expansion of major roads, rapid construction of inner roads, and the plan to build on the success already achieved in the transport on our waterways, will help mitigate the challenges in our transport system”.

After he had berated his opponents political party for their failure in power generation, Ambode said, “Our government will supplement the 9, 880 megawatts demand to power Lagos by creating more Independent Power Providers (IPPs) and by supporting the existing ones.”

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Ambode stated, “I represent a tradition of excellence; I represent the best of the public service, I represent the best from a pool of good governance.

“Our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party that is known for excellence. My integrity as a public servant is also tested and trusted, therefore, I stand before you to categorically say that I will implement all I promise to do, by the grace of God”.

“Therefore, I urge all the organized private sector and the business men and women seated here, I see this gathering as an annual general meeting, and I want you all to ratify me as the next Governor of Lagos state to ensure safety, cleanliness and prosperity for us all as well-meaning Lagosians
Ambode said.
“Of all the roads that we have in Lagos, 117 of those roads are federal government roads and Apapa express is one of them, there is nothing that APC government has not done to allow businesses thrive in that axis, each time we even try to relocate the traffic congestion of these tankers and trailers, we always have a bottleneck and frustration from the federal government, beyond what you see”
“We have expanded to ensure that we have additional seaports in Badagry and Lekki, to easing out the kind of challenges we face in Apapa area, beyond that, we believe strongly also, that there are additional infrastructure that are being used as alternative to allow businesses to expand in that axis” he stated.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos Gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, while reacting to the accusation laid on the PDP led government said, if we want to move forward as a country, we mustn’t begin to look at the economy of Nigeria as a big brother; we must begin to look at the Nigeria economy as a partner, rather than waiting for the . government to do everything in Lagos According to him, the OceanEconomy will involve the development of Epe and Ikorodu as National fishprocessing hubs and the development of logistics and supporting infrastructure.

Mr. Agbaje asserted his belief that the Private Sector is keyin the development of infrastructure in the state through properly structuredPublic-Private-Partnerships (PPPs). He maintained that the PPPs he refers towill be open to all Lagosians in contrast to the ‘exclusive’ partnerships bythe current administration. He intends to pursue this model to deliver the muchneeded light-rail system, as part of an integrated multi-modal transport systemfor Lagos as well as the provision of housing.

Mr. Agbaje reiterated his earlier position that he will becancelling the tolling on the Lekki-Epe Expressway as the concessionaires have been paid off.

Ambode sure strikes me as the right man for the job. Voting in PDP at this time will only retard the steady impetus with which Lagos state is developing.

The PDP in Lagos has never for once acknowledged the good works of the APC govt. so far. So what do we expect if they lay hold on the reins of power in Lagos other than a complete stand still of development if not a gradual degeneration to anarchy. I was appalled to hear PDP supporters shouting "no more LASTMA, no more KIA" during a campaign tour around Abule egba yesterday, and what readily came to my mind was Boko haram! I could only shake my head at such level of ignorance and backwardness as I prayed that our dear Lagos state would never be governed by people of such ideology.

Jimi Agbaje just like a quality product does not need too much embellishment and propaganda.

What do you say about a man that is fast winning the admiration of Nigerians from various persuasions with minimal campaigning?

From the picture of the two, the PDP guy seemed more discipline than the APC guy. Their waistlines buttress the fact. The APC guy is clearly out of shape.

Every Governor of Lagos since independence whether military or civilian has been performing for obvious reasons

Its time to break Tinubu's strangle hold of lagos. Tinubu needs to stop milking Lagos if Lagos is to grow at its right pace

for the first time you didn't put in 100% sentiment in your comment. We all know in our hearts that the only person who can do best for Lagos is Agbaje, I am not a politician though, but we all know how far Tinubu has gone to siphon our pockets in Lagos State the "No Man's Land" also we know that he is only going to use Ambode as a puppet as he (Ambode) won't be able to stand up to him in any way whatsoever. Also ask yourself why Tinubu didn't choose Agbaje in 2007? He knows he can't control Agbaje like a puppet. The same Ambode and Tinubu went ahead and severed the leave allowances and some other entitlements that Lagos Civil Servants are entitled to WHY?? Won't a common man prosper. We brought nothing into the world and no matter how much Tinubu amasses he won't take a dime to his grave. As for me Agbaje is the answer, Jimi Is the Dream. I Believe In Agbaje. And I can remember clearly that when Ambode was asked on TVC that what was his achievement through the 27 years he used in the Lagos State Civil Service, all he just kept on saying was "I've been living in Lagos for so long and I'm a natural born leader" says who......

last I checked on the Civil servant issue it was about regularising of credentials and those without proper credentials lost access to their benefits or so...
This issue had come out before and it was discovered PDP members where engaging in propelling of false reports .....
It's nice that you observe ambode keenly and with gleeful interest but why cutting only the part you deem neccesary to you...
I don't blame ambode for using his experience has is selling point ....his opponent does not have that in his Track record

What is this one sayinghuhhuh As I said earlier on, I'm not a politician, and this one that you're asking if I'm having a beef against Tinubu, God forbid. He has all a man could have but he has a lot to answer to before God for how many heads he cheats. And look at your profile and compare with mine, it's clear that your profile was created to campaign and nothing more, after February 14 nigg_as be like "On your mark, set. Go". Let's face it it's high time lagos is wrestled from Tinubu's grip. And wait oo, I even confirmed from a highly reliable source that... Never mind, make I no go spill wetin no go finish on time. Once again I am no politician, but trust me I want change at all cost. If we have Buhari as president, we should have Agbaje as Lagos state governor. That's the change we need.

@ the oratory stuff, please spare me that. The day Ambode was even talking on TVC he was just talking like a toddler, if they ask any question all he does is say " I've been the Lagos State civil service for 27 years" even when the question requires an answer totally otherwise. From the way he talked that day I was like damn " This Nigg@ has no idea, he's just like Jona". And then when the church in lagos organized the debate, Agbaje flogged Ambode's bum like silly. Funny enough they showed Ambode's part for like 2 minutes on the TVC 10"O"clock news, but interestingly they skipped Agbaje's part. How fair is that?
