All this anti corruption rhetoric coming from the north and southwest is highly hypocritical.

The north dominated leadership positions after the civil war with Yorubas occupying strategic bureaucratic roles. Corruption began its endemic rise under this duo.

For the southwest to shout corruption now is also highly hypocritical for the fact that their own region is dominated by crooks and thieves. Charity does not seem to be in their dictionary because if the northern leadership they so desire can not fix their own backyard or they can not stem corruption but celebrate it with people like Asiwaju enjoying patronage and respect how dare they speak of making Nigeria better?

From what I understand with this Buhari nonsense Yorubas who support Buhari do this for the following reason:

1. Fanatical Yoruba Muslims. There is such a thing if you don't know as fanatical Yoruba Muslims and it is growing by the day. Visit any tertiary institution and you will see them venting their by force religiousity for all to see. This group is swayed more by Jonathan's alliance with Israel. They are vast majority here on nairaland.

2. Yorubas want a piece of the action. By claiming opposition, Tinubu built his empire. Tinubu is now set to take on bigger challenges at the national level given that most of the SW states other than Lagos and Ondo have been milked dry. With this alliance Tinubu hopes to springboard to the national level where the pickings are juicier. Most of his followers will natural follow him.

3. Yorubas feeling like kingmakers. They feel irrelevant and dispensable in a Goodluck govt. Jonathan has matched any brain they have with that double their capacity from the southeast. It feels like 1960 again when they had to fight and compete with the more competent igbos. An Ab0ki alliance will naturally see a smooth sailing to the top. To make matters worse they have no bargaining power. The SouthSouth has oil and are ready to use it to negotiate, the north has a solid disciplined political bloc. These are things the southwest does not have other than AMALA styled confusion trouble rousing politics.

4. They are gambling for a Buhari death if he ever got elected. They some how think they were instrumental to Goodluck's emergence not knowing that the Niger Delta was set to restart their insurgency if the constitution is not adhered to. An Osinbanjo accidental presidency will never happen because the north will demand for bi elections . The other regions will support this especially the Igbos. This will see the north choose an Igbo vp leaving the southwest in the cold. If Osinbanjo opposes this he will simply be given the shonekan treatment and not a damn thing will happen.

OP if you think that the insults you are littering all over Nairaland on the SW, North and everyone else supporting Buhari will help Jonathan steal this election like that NNPC funds - then you must be dreaming. The best you can do now, is to help Jonathan in packing his load.

Nigerians are united on this - Jonathan must return back to Bayelsa. We can no longer support the stealing-is-not-corruption administration of Goodluck Jonathan. Enough is Enough.

If anything at all, no matter the outcome of the elections come February, the southwest will come out used and discarded.

This article does not make any sense at all.

1. if fanatical Muslims are supporting Buhari, why are you not talking about the fanatical xtains supporting Jonathan? If it was an Islamic scholar from the north that threatened to place a fatwa on anyone that oppose Buhari like oyedepo today, everyone will go bananas!

2. What piece of the action are you talking about? If it is true that other regions are enjoying the piece of the action, how is this trickling down to the common citizens in those regions? the last time i checked, every part of the nation is experiencing the same poverty , unemployment and other social ills the country is going thru.

3. If the south south really hold any bargaining powers, how is the oil benefiting an ordinary citizen in Bayelsa? and how is his/her life any better from someone living in Akure? How is the life of an almajiri northerner with "strong political bloc" better than an average citizen living in Oshogbo?

4. Even if this is true, what section of the constitution calls for a bi-election upon the death of a sitting president? Was that part of the constitution silent or missing when Yaradua died?

The article lacks critical thinking and should be in the dustbin.

I move the motion and call on the mods to throw this piece of garbage that was written by a simpleton, blinded with ethnic and religious bias into the trash can.

Cheers

After over 4yrs as President and trillions on Naira looted, Jonathan is still asking us - Do You Know? - What an insult. Jonathan's good news are only fancy on paper.

Nigeria are supporting Buhari and voting for change so that corruption will be stopped, we will get a leadership that can defeat any challenge that confronts Nigeria, revive our economy, develop Nigeria and empower the people.

PDP Fear-mongering and lies will not distract us. This Valentine, it is Sai Buhari.

You are a sad bigot and pitiful clown. This is the second thread from you, within a few hours, targeting the SW and Yorubas . Na by force? Why not simply go and vote for whoever you want and let others do same? As many of us told you on your silly thread below, it is not possible to coerce the Yorubas to vote on ethno-religious ground after the monumental failure of GEJ over 5 years. Don't make the mistake of assuming the Yorubas are completely consumed with and susceptible to ethno-religious bigotry, to the point of being blind to reason, as you and others are.

The Yorubas have supported GEJ enough. In 2011 the Yorubas voted unanimously for GEJ and helped him win all States in the SW bar Osun on his way to becoming President. Ribadu won in Osun and Buhari got nada from the SW in 2011 while GEJ overwhelmingly got our mandate to go and make a difference as President. GEJ horrendously failed to deliver on the trust reposed in him. That, and that alone, is now what the Yorubas are judging him on. Find something better to do with your time because constituting yourself into a nuisance to others just shows you are a pathetic menace.

Yorubas have decided to embrace change, if you dont like it, please use your PVC to make your voice heard on February 14th

We will vote for Buhari and he will become your President and Commander in Chief. If you dont like it, PM me for key strategic rivers you can jump into- death will be quick.

Stop fooling yourself. Folks in the south-west are pragmatically rational. They have no predilection for 'cutting their noses to spite their face' because of an ethnocentric and vendetta-driven dedication to the "chop sand syndrome" the likes of the OP live for 24/7. GEJ was given a chance and he failed over 5 long years to make Nigeria horribly worse-off.

The SW cannot vote for a continuation of deaths and the 'Somaliarisation' of Nigeria. The people of the region will not continue supporting overtly choking corruption that is crippling the nation. To cut a long story short, the SW will not assist the ultra-inept , hideously corrupt and grotesquely-callous GEJ to turn Nigeria into a failed State even if that is what the OP and other enemies-of-progress like him want.
