car gurus pls help !!
my toyota camry 2003 v6 front passenger tyre bounces vertically and makes sound like metal rubbing against metal....or shld I say metallic coins lik sound.my mechanic said its d shock absorber but I only started hearing d sound after he worked on my shaft.the sound us only heard wen driving on rough uneven surfaces.
pls will appreciate advice from experts in d house

your vehicle is prone to suspension issues cause of our bad roads and the weight of your engine, nevertheless since the problem started after the suspension was worked on check the anti rattle clips for the breakpads if they are present< also try this trick, when going over uneven surfaces press brakes lightly and see if you still here the sounds if you dont then im 100per sure the clips are not present.

if the noise is consistent even when the brakes are depressed slightly check the stabilizer links.

However I suggested d clips 2 d mech nd he confirmed dat dy r intact.he initially said d prob was d links nd he changed dem but d car still had d sound afta changing d links.thats y he suggested changing d shocks.so sir do u tnk it cn b d shocks since we already ryled out d clips nd links ?

Take out the front shocks, take out the coil springs, check the various components of the shocks for faliure.

If the shocks are still good, you can find any of the other components(cheaper to rebuild)

what was wrong with shaft in the 1st place ?

the suspension especailly the front one has few thing that has rubber to avoid metal to metal contact we can not exact tell you what wrong with car but we can narrow down to things to check, on your case we need to know what was worked on, on the shaft and we can have an rough idea what parts we unbolted and put back again

but generally the mechanic has to check all bolts and now that s/he worked on and s/he should be able to finds where the noise is coming from

did ur mech change d stabilizer bushing also?Tell him to check d shock absorber pads.They can also cause d noise heard.

Confirm d spring is not broken. Once experienced such..

I finally solved d problem wit d ride.turned out dat my mecho was trying to play a smart one on me.i found out when I approached anoda mechanic 4 a second opinion bout d metallic sound ,he checked d linkage nd shocks nd confirm ed dey were still solid.he then went ahead 2 open d bonnet nd saw dat d previous mecho had loosened d shock screw on dat side so dat d car appears 2 av a weakened shocks.he confessed to me that most mecho play such tricks on innocent car owners.
d thunder wey go fire that my mechanic still dey do press up.

now d ride drives fine and silent.
am sure my former mechanic will soon call to find out wen I will b shelling out 10-18k for 'original' shocks.

d screw of d suspension support was what was loosened.
