Interesting. So I read the entire article and I must say that it is hard to argue against the facts presented by Soludo. Madam Minister is known for abracadabra economics. Her figures do not reflect the lives of Nigerians. I expect another poor attempt by her to rubbish Soludo. I am confident that she won't take him up on that debate. |

RayCharles:Forget it, we do not have the technical, managerial and logistical (not to talk of financial) capacity to undertake and subsequently maintain such a massive projeect. All our mega projects have failed ie Ajaokuta, the 4 refineries, even kainji is badly maintained. |

I was expecting a reasonable or enlightened reply from you, but what was I thinking? You're not capable of such cos you're a dunce. Îdiot is spewing thrash all over the thread, making beer parlour forecasts and predictions and people are actually taking him serious. Banks will retrench because Jonathan's government is plunging us in debt? Very stupîd argument! |

Thanks @acidtalk. just wish a lot Nigerians would not be blinded by sentiment and see beyond their noses. What we are seeing now is just a tip of the iceberg and the government trying to manage the true financial situation of the economy. The CBN dont have a clue as to how to resolve the issue at hand. Nigeria is broke, ask the CBN. My people gear up because the Naira will be devalued again. #save what you can now and limit your expenditure. The heat is here. |

barcanista:you are a big fool. Whether you like it or yes, both Soludo and Okonjo Iweala are renowned world class economist who have come to rescue this thing you called your country. Without those, the Nigerian economy will be competing with only Zimbabwe. Just go to your mud house now in south west and thank God for those 2 while seeking forgiveness. |

To the economic cynics on nairaland can you guys tell us when is Nigerian economy not in doldrum. We have never had it good, it is only since the advent of our current political dispensation that we are gradually taking the necessary structural steps to initiate, introduce, correct some of the impediments in the economy. |

Liegeria:Economy didn't collapse, oil price collapsed. No magic can be done about that. Soludo wouldn't have done better in the same scenario, infact he may even do worse. Anyone could point fingers from outside. Ngozi is the pillar holding Nigeria today! Ditto LRNZH |

LRNZH:IT IS NEVER BY WHAT SCHOOL YOU WENT TO. Look around, most 3rd class and dropouts are the ones who employ the 2:1 and 1st class graduate. It is about experience and of course, STREET WISE. Ngozi was once smart. Corruption and love for authority has DRAINED her brain. |

I don talk am before. By the time Uncle Chukwuma finishes with Aunty Ngozi, the resume on which Aunty Ngozi's resume is written will be worth less than Gen. Buhari's results released by Katsina Provincial College. In fact, she wouldn't be considered qualified to manage LAGBUS co-operative society. |
| Re: Soludo Replies Okonjo-Iweala, Accuses Her Of Forging National Economics Stats by Nobody: 11:14pm On Feb 01, 2015 |
FreeGlobe:So with all we have been saying you still do not get it. You say economy did not collapse, oil price collapsed right? So what drives your economy is it not oil? Soludo already outlined why what is happening now wouldnt have happened under his watch and Obasanjo has concurred that. Soludo as CBN governor had a culture of saving and was trusted by all but under NOI and GEJ its a culture of spending and lack of trust hence money is shared as soon as it comes in. If we had a culture of saving under NOI then for at least 6 months we would have been able to cushion the effect of the drop in oil price hence saving Nigerias economy for a time. |
| Re: Soludo Replies Okonjo-Iweala, Accuses Her Of Forging National Economics Stats by LRNZH(m): 11:17pm On Feb 01, 2015 |
acidtalk:It is worse than that. Havard Business School graduates are not very analytically trained. The emphasis of their curriculum is on networking and building relationships. Compare to Wharton Business School or LSE who are financial experts to the core. Anyway all these abroad trained do not get developmental economics and that's what Nigeria badly needs. |

asha80:Zenith bank? I have a current account there o! They've been calling me to come and collect my ATM, something they never did since I opened the account. If they have issues, make I go commot my money sharp sharp. Just hope GTB isn't in the same ish. About the economy, the fact that this is an election year will make things even worse. This year's budget will not come early because of the political period we are in. And the new government will be busy "forming the new govt". Before they select they people they know into positions, the year would be gone and with most institutions, especially banks, depending on such budgets pronouncements to.make decisions; the economy will suffer and even greater recession than envisaged. But "when others say there is a casting down, we shall.say there is a lifting up!" |
| Re: Soludo Replies Okonjo-Iweala, Accuses Her Of Forging National Economics Stats by duni04(m): 11:18pm On Feb 01, 2015 |
FreeGlobe:True but there was little accountability leading up to the start of the decline in oil price, and even now. The missing 20 billion dollars would have been used to defend the naira better and reduce its slide against the dollar. There's a reason Soludo kept harping on the fact that Ngozi is coordinating minister. The buck stops on her desk. If the beurocrats in Abuja weren't listening to her counsel, she should have resigned instead of allowing a charlatan like soludo destroy her credibility. |
