The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be independent of the Executive and Legislative arms of government. It should decide when and how elections are held, in line with stipulations in the constitution. The Executive should NOT HAVE the power to postpone a date set by INEC, for this would call into question INEC's independence and credibility. Any lawyers in the house?. Please educate us.

India does not rank much ahead of Nigeria in terms of human development but, elections held there are relatively squeaky clean. Why? Simple. They have an independent electoral body that works hand in hand with the judiciary to ensure that neither the Executive nor Legislative arms of government gets involved in tinkering with anything around elections. Politicians, even the Prime Minister of India, would dread intervening or getting into conflict with their electoral body.

Any move to reschedule the forthcoming Nigerian elections would only spell doom. I strongly advise INEC to reject politicking from the Executive and political parties. INEC's credibility is at stake and they should do what is best for NIGERIA and not for any individual, political party or arm of government. What is best for NIGERIA is that elections are held as planned and the winners sworn in or take their seats in office as stipulated. Nothing more and nothing less. NIGERIA is already the laughing stock of the world. Enough is enough.

And you think that that is a good thing.

Do you actually know the meaning of democracy?
[/b]

You're ignorant and callous. I'm sure you would 'know if they exist' within 2 seconds had they been backed by big political godfathers and moneybags with looted funds. You don't even realize how you promote the same thievery, greed, corruption and avarice you constantly moan about, by your own mentality.
oga shut up joor, u sound pathetic.

If they like, let them ask Democrats & Republicans of America to endorse the shift. Febuhari 14 remains sancrosanct, unmovable just like the rock of gilbralter.

Kiakiakiakia.

I would love the election to hold on February 14th but the truth remains that INEC is not ready for the elections. JEGA should address the electorates and highlight his challenges.

The APC is walking in to another loaded bait punch.

Whether we like it or yes, we must wait and listen to the C in C whose decision is final.

Its a win win for Ebele.

IF GEJ/PDP are very concerned that many Nigerians do not have their PVCs, they should declare public holidays!!!INEC Chairman has said several times that he was ready for the poll, why then being needlessly jittery over what is not our duty?
if PDP like let them postpone till 3 month those that will not collect their PVC will not and that will not change the game.

I will site the fact that many people have left their homes of residence for their village in fear of violence after the election to also advocate for the postponement of the election too or better still INEC should make it possible for Nigerians to vote with their PVCs anywhere in Nigeria aside from the units they registerd. With that many Nigerians will not be disenfranchised.

I really do not approve of the way/ways things are done here in Nigeria. Jonathan's regime is over! He shouldn't still sit on that throne and keep making or taking orders! He should step aside totally,if not he'll still use his powers as 'the president on seat' to shut some lips and that is total injustice.
Futhermore,I can't help but wonder what the Electoral sector of this country think their job is,just to steal the country's fund I guess' nawao.. The corruption here starts from INEC. This is because, they've allowed a contestant to still be on the SEAT while contesting. Sir Jonathan should step down and contest like the others,he could be using his powers to keep his portfolio to himself.
Lastly,One Voice,One Nigeria,let's vote peacefully,No violence.

Just as Apc owned it to itself to boycut d elections if postponed is d way d 16 other political parties has d right to also boycut d elections if Jega goes ahead with it.This means a stalemate, too bad for nigeria.Tha contitutions allow for postponement with conditions.
