Buhari's Speech At The Delegates Conference Of The NLC, Abuja by Rilwayne001: 7:26pm On Feb 09, 2015
Let me begin by saying thank you to all of you for giving me the opportunity to address this year's delegates congress of the Nigeria Labour Congress. I want to also congratulate you who have travelled from near and far, braving bad roads, traffic jams and delayed airlines to be here for the congress.

I know you made this journey for a good reason. You came here because you believe in what this country can be. That is to say, you all believe in CHANGE.

You believe that the labour of our heroes past and present shall never be in vain. You believe that our hopes and dreams can become reality. You believe in a nation bound in freedom, peace and unity. You believe that we can rebuild the broken walls. You believe that our great country can set a standard for all of Africa to see. I pray that you will give me the opportunity to play a part in bringing about this CHANGE that the All Progressives Congress, the APC, so strongly desires for our country, Nigeria.

As most of you know, I am not a novice when it comes to participating in the struggle to deliver Nigeria from the power of darkness. Many times, my efforts have earned me the wrath and vengeance of crooks and thieves. What I want to assure everyone in this room and across the length and breadth of this vast country is that I will do my best for you.

Once again, Nigeria is in crisis. Our country is facing grievous challenges in numerous sectors. In the light of recent events, the three most pertinent at this time are security, the state of the economy and corruption forming a terrible troika that must be tackled all at once before we can achieve any meaningful progress.

In August 2011, a vehicle smashed through two security barriers at the United Nations headquarters in Abuja just after 11am. Its driver crashed the car into the reception area of the building which housed 26 different UN agencies, and then detonated a bomb. Twenty-five people were killed; around 60, wounded. The then little-known extremist group, Boko Haram, claimed responsibility for the gruesome attack.

Since then, Boko Haram has gained international notoriety and become a major national menace –kidnapping girls from their schools and women from their homes; slaughtering boys in their dormitories and men in their farms; exploding bombs in public and private venues; and taking town after town in the northeast of Nigeria. And, for some reason, our defence forces are unable to cope and unable to defend. Despite the federal government’s defence budget that has gulped over$32.88 billion in the past five years.

Our security situation in this country has never been so dire.Today, Nigerians have to endure, not just terrorist attacks in the North, but militancy in the Niger Delta, communal violence in the Middle Belt, cult wars in the South, and kidnappings, armed robberies, and common acts of thuggery throughout the country. Most are left to fend for themselves. Those who turn to the police, the army or any other state security agencies usually have the means and personal connections to buy help and protection. Those who don't simply move on, resigned. The bitter ones may form vigilante groups, others join mobs that dispense jungle justice on suspects and scapegoats alike. Too many believe they have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, and the most alienated are easy prey for terrorists, militants, and thugs. This must CHANGE!

And then, the economy. A few weeks ago, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) took monetary actions to reduce the pressure on the Naira by devaluing the currency and increasing interests rates – both directly and indirectly, by raising interest rates and restricting the amount banks can lend from their available cash. These actions, while necessary to reduce the slide in our currency, have reduced the amount of goods the ordinary Nigerian can purchase with the money he or she has. We are likely to experience a rise in the prices of all goods, especially fuel, bread and foodstuff. The hard times ahead will affect Nigerians in every part of our country, 67 percent of whom already live on less than N200 per day. Other challenges facing Nigerians today include youth unemployment, a lack of social services, corruption and poor governance.

Nigeria needs a group of people who knows what to do about these problems. They must have the competence, the experience, the know-how, the leadership capacity and, most especially, the courage to move Nigeria forward. APC is that group. An APC government at the centre will treat Labour as a partner in moving the nation forward.

Our plan to restore good governance, efficient and effective public sector stands to benefit the country's labour force perhaps more than any other subgroup. In line with our party's manifesto, we will identify and promote growth of industries and give incentives for the use of local content.

An APC government will protect and respect labourer's right to organize, guaranteeing the rights to collective bargaining in good faith in law. We will promote new skills, equip youth for a modern economy through a network of local technology institutions to provide free training in courses for the unemployed.

But we cannot do any of any of these things alone. We need your support. That is my purpose of being here in your midst today. As you all know I am aspiring for the office of president of Nigeria, not just to hold an office, but to join you in securing and rebuilding a nation, our nation.

I pray that you will support me in this quest. I hope that you will give me a chance. Together, you and I can start to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria of our dreams.

Thank you and God bless.

Someone who cannot make or create a job for himself other than govt appointment how will he make job for others

Many ppl after active service in govt etc they setup a private business or consultancy to pass experience and get money 4 demselves

Buhari has done neither- dont be moved he said more than that when he overtook shagari

MANY of us have created and employed more people more than Buhari. All he is using is miltary connection and being a member of a clique of miltary politicans.

What tripped me about his speech and appearance there was the ovation he got when he finished. He was almost mobbed by delegates eager to hail or touch him.

It simply means that the postponement hasn't dampened the resolve of Nigerian workers from all over the country, represented by their leaders, to request change.

All the best to him

Inspiring. ..

When I read or listen to gmb's speech, I feel the passion and the pain in him. I see a patriot who is deeply concerned about the socio economic trajectory of Nigerians . I see someone who means well for the country. I see the next president of Nigeria.

The slayer of corruption.
The terrorizer of looters.
The defender of the masses.
The no-nonsense general.
The most popular man in Nigeria.
The political enigma.
The only politician who can get millions without renting a crowd.
The man with a cult-like followership.

The persistent one!
PDP's worst nightmare.

All welcome Nigeria's incoming president
President Muhammadu Buhari. GCFR

Nice speech.

On a lighter note, Valentine's day is around the corner.

Re: Buhari's Speech At The Delegates Conference Of The NLC, Abuja by Nobody: 9:25pm On Feb 09, 2015
Buhari is the grand patron of the Miyetti Allah, the association of Fulani cattle herdsmen that is responsible for ransacking villages and causing mayhem all over the country.
In the year 2000, Buhari threatened governor Lam Adesina of Oyo state that he would revenge the death of fulani herdsmen killed by yoruba's in Saki, Oyo.

This is the same Buhari that westerners are drumming their support for. . .

A former Chief Press Secretary to the late Governor, Chief Kehinde Olaosebikan, yesterday said in Abuja that a conflict between Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani would have thrown the country into another war.

He told our correspondent that a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, had led a combative delegation of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to meet Adesina in 2000 in his office.
According to him, “Precisely on the 13th of October, 2000, former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, in company with former Military administrator of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa, had led a heavy team of Arewa Consultative Forum in a combative mood to the office of the governor in protest against the alleged killings of over 69 Fulani cattle herders in Saki Area of the state.
“General Buhari whose arrival to the Secretariat complex was preceded by scores of lorry loads of Hausa men and boys said pointedly at the executive council chambers of Oyo State that his team came to meet the governor to seek reasons why the people of Saki should not be dealt with for killing Fulani herdsmen. He did not stop at that, Gen Buhari accused Governor Lam Adesina of complicity in the killings and using his position as governor to pervert justice.
He quoted the former Head of State as accusing the former governor of shielding the culprits.

According to the General, they therefore wanted immediate stoppage of the killings, justice and compensation for the mass killings of the Fulanis or vengeance across the country. Olaosebikan added: “As weighty, indicting and provocative as the General’s allegations were against the governor, Alhaji Lam Adesina remained unperturbed as he only fired back with his own well- coordinated arsenals in form of refined strategy, robust explanations and effective engagements.
“Lam Adesina identified all the points raised by the General and simply asked the heads of the organisations directly involved to respond.”
He quoted Lam Adesina as saying: “ Before I thank you for this visit, you have come to tell me something, I also want to tell you something and that something is to make an appeal. General Buhari
has been a former Head of State,
Brigadier Marwa has governed Lagos for some time and with credibility… so you are national
leaders of this country. Even though, by accident of birth, you are from the North, so you can be
born anywhere, may be next time when I am coming to the world I will be born in the North or the
South South.’

THOSE WHO MATTER DOES NOT MIND; AND THOSE WHO MIND DOES NOT MATTER.

Some people are soo bitter because of this GMB

Even if Cambridge issue another result. I believe they'll still be sad alongside with their devil advocates in ethnocentric and their religion bigotry.

Because you've failed in all this; you have failed in all ramifications.

He'll Islamize Nigeria

He doesn't know his Gsm no
He'll make country ungovernable
He has Cancer
He dn't know his vice name

He didn't buy weapons.
Election POSTPONEMENT.

We are still counting.

In all this : GMB continue to get stronger and more stronger.

Google it and see what it take to be a General.

PDP and those who want a statue quo of monumental embezzlement, Security woe, ethnocentric, religion bigotry,

ANDY UBA #100 Kerosene SUBSIDY on the poor Nigeria.

And all the promise and failed of GEJ.
Will likewise experience in their life the way GEJ is ruling this country. Say AMEN.
