Mimiko is a highly educated man, he would bring neutrality and competence to INEC. Yorubas have to congratulate Mimiko for his appointment, he is one of your own, and is on the brink of making history as the umpire who presided over the most free and fair election in Nigerian history.

GEJ is a genius! He replaced a northerner with a Yoruba man! What better way to divide and conquer? If the north complains about Mimiko appointment, they run the risk of alerting sensible Yorubas and turning them against the North.

Once again, GEJ shows why he is the best man for the presidency job, it's been a while since a Yoruba man headed INEC. Thanks to GEJ equity spirit, the Yorubas now head INEC, isn't this the CHANGE everyone has been clamouring for?
brainless

It is because we have corrupt and politicized military that is why all these unthinkable ideas in 21st century reigning in Nigeria. And for Mimiko, his architect, I don't know the dude is this crude. Same thing that happened to gadafi is hovering of their families

Viewing and reading comments in this thread is really disturbing. Young nigerians celebrating an action like this make me feel the future of this country is bleak.

Exactly, brainless is Tinubu and co sacrificing the House of representatives speaker slot (GEJ in the spirit of equity allotted to the Yorubas) to the north( Tambuwal) just to lure Tambuwal to APC in hope of wrestling power from GEJ for the north( Buhari).

Brainless is Yorubas not being happy with GEJ gesture of promoting one of their own( Mimiko) to the headship of INEC, preferring to have a Northerner in his place.

Brainless is the Yoruba commoners too blind to see that Tinubu is selling the Yoruba short to please his Northern masters.

So what about the Middle Belt? And what makes u tink Dr. Jonathan wotn win most of the Northen States?

How soon u've forgotten what happened in 2011. How many Northen States did Buhari Win?

The Few States he won with just a Slim Margin.

Well, you could have proved this by having a non Yoruba APC vice presidential candidate, *grins* or by electing Buhari ahead of OBJ in 2003, when it was obvious that OBJ was a poor presidential material. But that wasn't the case. We know better, Tribal politics and Yorubas are synonyms.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the man that God has blessed with Wisdom. He that puts his trust in God shall mount on wings like an eagle. Now the most important job in Nigeria and in Africa has landed on the laps of the Yoruba. This job at INEC is bigger than Speaker of the House that Tambuwal stole.
. You must be delivered from the spirit of tribalism. This is one d things that got us to the unfortunate place nigeria is today. Its sad.

Are u minding 2 face people? They are all for apc bc of mere vp position, I can vividly remember most of them saying they would dump apc if tinubu put amechi, rochas or oshiomole as vp candidate.

You've said nothing but the truth. I'm from the oil rich Niger delta. I can tell you GEJ is a perfect example of the useless leaders we have down here. If they spend half of what they get from oil revenues the whole Niger delta would have been a paradise by now. With one single stroke, Jega was played to make a decision that will bring the wrath of the people on him and at the same create a condition that would prevent him from overseeing the election. Chai! This's politics at its best....

GEJ better tread with caution he might just be digging a shallow grave. Jega couldn't get his act in 4 years how will mimiko get his in 28 days? We already have enough trouble already as a country, its best we stick to jega by the way it would be a stupid thing to change inec chairman that will be bad for our already dead international image considering the fact that the international community have been working with jega. Then isn't the inec chairman subject to approval by parliament?
For a hot contest like this elections, what do you say about over 20 million southerners whom haven't got their PVCs and yet came on TV and said he is ready. Does that make sense? Doesn't that signal his impartiality and possible possession of hidden biases or collusion with one party over the other? we want a fair contest, confident that those behind GEJ are more than the minority that are making noise aboutbackward and retrogressive change they want

You postponed the election just to change the INEC boss and someone says hope for Nigeria? I hope Jonathan knows what he is doing.
are you aware Jega's tenure is ending 24th march? the main contest is between Buhari and Jonathan. Embattled Nigerian Army needs more time to prepare since the police have since become docile and ineffective. Is it not better to have a yoruba as the umpire seeing the matter is hot? The new man has to settle down before election which has already been planned by Jega. the few days extension may not even be enough to dismantle the child voter plot by Jega's Inec.

I wish Nigeria all the best she deserves.

We will see how strong he is when the US and the international community set in and Laurent Gbagbo treatment starts.
