there was never a time in this country were the rule of law was applied. there is "the power of incumbency". Jonathan will remove anyone who becomes an obstacle. anyone who decides to wrestle power from an incumbent, should be ready to dance SHOKI. GEJ till 2019 |

Jonathan have NO right to seek re-election. He did not inherit the remaining part of Yaradua's presidency. a president is able to take the oath of office only twice. No inheritance in government.. Jega pronounced him RE-ELECTED if you remember in 2011.If GEJ wanted two full terms he should have allowed the Senate president conduct a fresh election after Yaradua's death. He has already taken two Oaths There was no provision in our law for completing someone else's term of office (term is term and it is a joint ticket held by both the president and vice so it is not construed as different). it was two terms or two oaths period. Once you have sworn oaths twice that is it. As our constitution stand today no provision for anyone completing somebody's term as long as "swore oaths twice" remains there. may be he should not have sworn the Oath of Office the first time as himself. May be he should have shared the Presidential power with Mrs. Turai Yar'adua, As it is NOW, President Jonathan has already sworn the Oath of office as Nigerian President twice and he is essentially seeking a third Swearing-in and he wants to sit as Nigerian President for 10 years, where the Constitution said the MAXIMUM tenure of any one person, as President in Nigeria, including that one person called Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, shall not exceed eight years, of two terms of four years each. The Nigerian Constitution made provision for a condition under which a person may be on the seat as President, for longer than eight years in case of wars, such as a war making it impossible to conduct an election, but obviously no such person shall be required to take the Oath of office more than the maximum of two times. Jonathan cannot be swear in thrice. Jonathan have NO right to seek re-election. Jonathan cannot be swear in thrice. It is after the swearing in that one becomes the CIC not after election. You can win an election and not be sworn in (MKO), so you are not the CIC. He has been sworn in twice to me is stronger than that he has been elected once which is his defense now. Lets look at this from another angle, if he had not contested in 2011, will he be referred to now as a 'former president' and be a member of the Council of State? If the answer is yes then GEJ to me has no case. |

Descartes:It's obvious your memory is short. The President suspended Sanusi from office for financial recklessness, apparently because he knew he lacks powers to remove him. Only a 2/3 of the national assembly can. Ditto for Jega, the INEC chairman. The question now is, on what grounds will a president seeking re-election sack Jega? It's a tough call and gej will further ridicule himself if he tries it |

I LOVE THIS COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA... Jega can be removed and nothing will happen just as Sanusi was removed and nothing happened!Election is postponed and nothing happened - no protest on the street whatsoever. NAIJA IS A WONDERFUL COUNTRY even America cannot understand us. |

LRNZH:this APC so- called Law maker are so foolish, diden't they read what the constitution say? Or they have forgotten so soon how Maurice Iwu was retired? let them keep barking Jega has already gone.It now become clearer that he plan to rig election for them. That was What they say in Sanusi case,at the end what happened?PDP MUST HAVE IT'S WAY. |

In as much I don't want Jega to be removed am sorry to say that the C in C has the power to hire and fire whomsoever he deems fit. Sanusi cried fowl that he could not be removed but today he is the emir of Kano.. Maybe its time for Jega to be crowned the emir of I don't know where. I like the man but then I don't like the fact that it took the intervention of the military for the man to release my PVC.. If he is compromised he should Go. But if not let God keep him and use him to give us who is best suited for this country of our.. GEJ or GMB.. |

Descartes:That is true and good point of REF. Would prefer Jega is left alone to finish what he started but if he is found wanting and compromised, then he has no business at the helms of INEC. |
