mhoreh:

i stay in a house share, in the artic my room is big enuf for 3 of us since they are spending just few weeks and theres an extra single bed dropped on the floor..... so we should be ok with that

So I assume you are saying, one room in a shared house to fit 3 or more?
I do not view that accommodation suitable for its purpose.

You could run into all sorts of complications, assuming the visa gets issued.

In addition to SpikeC's post, you can use MAPS.ME offline map... that's if you may not have data/wifi access.

That map was my best friend when I entered here...

Hello nairalanders please I want to post some reference letters to the University of Portsmouth from Nigeria and I want to know the fastest, safest way to do this and the cost implication. Thanks. (P.S: I need the letters delivered in 8-10 days).

Hello Bosses in the house...

Recall I posted about a TV license issue some weeks ago.

we just received a mail notifying us about a court hearing... or to attest we don't need the license online or phone.

I tried filling the online form and I was expected to tick boxes of things I don't do (including streaming of live matches)... I stopped there undecided

Should I go on and fill it? Or wait for the court summons?

I have the intention of calling my agent/landlord for his counsel on the matter as the previous unreplied mails they sent wasn't for us the new tennants.

Please I need your advice on this urgently

Thanks

You COULD all put together and buy a licence. that would stop the nonsence.
But that is being honest straightforward and simple. shocked

Or you can sit back and worry all day about it, they will not go away.

Send email or call them to complain about the harassment, the letter is for the previous occupant so they may not know that. If you don't have TV then you don't watch one. The idea of asking foreign students to pay TV license because they watch clips on their laptop or tablet is nonsense. If you don't contact them to explain things then they will keep sending it.

Why would they pay when they don't even have TV? What evidence is there that they watch TV? Paying for such is a complete waste of money.

Possibly yes, a waste of money.
But some do it just for a quiet life.
The TV Licence people have no sense of when to stop.

They will stop when you stand up to them, you will not go to jail or prison for refusing to pay for something you don't use.

If you do not have any television set on the premises, simply fill the form and post it back.
When they come visiting to view the premises, hide your laptops away, modern day smartphones and any streaming device.
Once they visit and nothing is found, your premises would be whitelisted.

Thanks @ Justwise, worry359 and Lexusgs430 for your prompt response and advice.

I will have to call them first to explain as suggested... before I look to filling the form

Thanks again...

The letter is meant to instill fear in the heart of the receiver. And hopefully bully your conscience into making payment.

The person needs to apply for a general visitor visa or family visitor as the case may be

You need to write the person a letter of invitation, stating what you'll provide and how long you're going to provide it.

Include your tenancy agreement, passport data page and visa page

Not a bad idea though. Will look for ways to make that happen. Some Government officials will actually be hosting Nigerian students in the Nigerian high Commission in london on 24/03. You can attend that if chanced, I guess.
