General, I once read a joke that ran like this "I am turning a new leaf, I am putting all my past behind me. Therefore anyone I am owing before now, should please not bother me anymore. It is all in the past." In the PAST, You were bouncing in the euphoria of the greatest Nigeria leader ever! Blinded by a devilish and myopic logic of "I am the righteous messiah", you trampled on our Constitution and short down the legal processes. Your uncut word became law and your wild imaginations became "legal"! You destroyed the free and sane society you met where one is assumed innocent and until proven guilty, to gangster "paradise" where all men are guilty especially those who caught your fancy. You jailed whomsoever you loved to see caged and labeled them "corrupt"! Even those who were found innocent by your ill conceived tribunals, were not let free. You had some of them retired and retired till they were "found" guilty! Unfortunate this is your selling point! You are parading your self in the same self-styled Messiah from the past, deceiving the gullible that You are coming to fight corruption just like you did in the years gone by! Now, this is the same past you are so shameless and so irresponsible to shout "Judging me with the past is unfair"! Dear Tyrant Sir, for your information, none is ever judged by their future! On the earth, we all are judged in the Present based on the Past for the sake of the Future (you can quote me on this sir! Your logic is flawed! It means every armed robber, rapist, thief, murderer and what have you, who are in the courts (some even in jails, awaiting trial), should all be released with "immediate effect" (I am sure you loved the sound and the power of those two words?). After all, the crimes they committed were all in past and in your opinion, it is "unfair" to judge them with their past. By the way sir, can you remember the "trio" you executed based on crimes they committed in the past? You invented death penalty for drug traffickers, and then enacted it in the "past" so as to have power to kill in the "present"! That must had been a glamorous "present"! And now, you are weeping because your past is hunting you? While I am not insisting you reverse the events of your terrible past, it is maturity to acknowledge and accept the horrible mistakes you made in those days. Bearing in mind, that some of your "mistakes" took lives, a simple act of contrition and an apology would have been a great step towards healing. Unfortunately, in your world, there is nothing like "I was wrong"! Great Leaders are not those who never make mistakes, but those who are humble enough to acknowledge a mistake whenever it happens. Sir, the past of every man is his shadow! As a man cannot run from his past, so shall he not run from his past! This is my candid opinion, embrace your past an stop running from it! Make amends where necessary, acknowledge your mistakes because as humans we all make some. Then apologize where necessary. You can even visit the families of those you so wronged by either killing or jailing their loved ones unjustly. The blood of the innocent is powerful enough to haunt a soul. "I am sorry" cannot reverse a past injustice, but it is a recipe in the healing process! However, you can continue in your delusion that we are unfair for calling you to account! Just note that on this earth, the past usually shape the future! We can predict the future based on past records. That is why someone of us have looked into the past of Nigeria and can tell that the future is very bleak! And you know what General? The unquenchable lust for power by folks like you adds further to the opinions that form our conclusions. To all "progressives", since your Messiah is insisting he must not be judged from his past, it is "unfair" of any of you to disturb us with this his "past" performance as a corruption fighter. To all real progressives, keep up th good work! We must as a matter of basic principles of live, take a critical look at the past and the form an opinion for the future! The solid gains of the past five years should and must be sustained. Amongst all, the economy is growing! Only that the "progressives" are too blind to see the light. Cheers to all! |

Neither can any other human. Beware of your actions at he present!. It is only a matter of time, this present will become a past. |

noblezone:Now that I know you're the author... I see that your reasoning faculty is decaying... Atrocities of the past can't be used as a yardstick for determining the future... Let me enlighten you... as your brain is black already... people... human beings were sold into slavery... millions of people... we hear stories of slaves thrown overboard to release the weight on a slave ship... Has the queen of England ever apologise to our race...? yet... we find out self voluntarily going to their countries... we find ourselves being them to sell us arms and ammunition... we find ourselves using their technology... Even if they do realise the sins of the past... have your family received any letter from any white man expressing his sincere apology...? You might say your family want enslaved... but remember you were paid to post this trash and force your opinion on us... Buhari has his skeletons... we know... why haven't you written anything on Jonathan...? Or is he sinless...? doesn't he have a past... he freed pardon corrupt people... he still find it difficult to sell his stealing is not corruption... on national tv....he subscribed to people burning and stoning thieves on national television... Buhari I'm sure has accepted his criticism... let's see your write up on Jonathan's administration... |

iPopAlomo:Atrocities of the past can't be used as a yardstick for determining the future... Did you really say that ![]() ![]() In your bid to defend an unrepentant tyrant, you threw caution to the wind and spewed the terrible! It means we have no right or reason whatsoever to judge or condemn any one today based on what happened yesterday! With respect to you and your political views, we must be careful when we uproot on moral grounds just to achieve political power! The precedents you guys are setting today will turn back to hunt in the future. So you cannot judge the present based on the past? Yet, Buhari set a law backward to a "past" just to kill in the "present. Okay, I get it, it it different strokes for different folks! For the "corrupt" like Batholomew Owow, you can judge them today by their pasts. but for the "saints" like Buhari, you cannot and must not judge them today based on their past! Shame on you all! As for my BLACK brain I am so glad and grateful that God made me black! I dont care whose ox is gored! You can check my history on Nairaland, I am among those calling for Britain to face the past of the crimes they committed in Africa! While also calling on Africans to do the needful! Part of what we must do, is to devolve this slave camp of a nation set up by criminals in the name of colonization! While I am not expecting any apology form the brutish British for all their criminal activities in Africa, I expect an apology from one who wants to lead me, if he had misfired int he past! Buhari should at least accept that coup plotting is a crime! Not just a crime but treason punishable by death! By firing squad! He should also accept that he was wrong, both morally and spiritually to travel back in time, set a law in the "past" just to kill in the "present"! Cheers bro! NOTE: On the matter of my "decaying reasoning faculties", I just want to submit that it is possible for you to express your opinions without pouring insults! It is a sign of maturity! |

noblezone:See what I'm saying... because you're so bias... or because you're paid... you won't see where I asked you to criticise the present day government... and you beat around the Bush... Buhari condemned armed robber and drug traffickers... yes... Jonathan said on television viewed around the world and publicly subscribed to jungle justice in justifying corruption is not stealing... why are you omitting these points... be objective all round otherwise you are a TANOID... lol... you can't see beyond your pocket... |

iPopAlomo:First and fore most, this thread is not about Jonathan! It is about a national leader who said judging him based on the past is unfair and hash! And I am saying no! Anyone who takes such a position has a big problem! It is the past that shapes the future! Since you insist, let me oblige you a little! The EFCC handles cases of financial fraud like stealing of public funds! The ICPC handles all the cases of corrupt practices like forging certificates to a high position! Mr. President said, when they took some critical look at the cases before the ICPC, thy discovered they are cases of stealing and should not be handled by the ICPC. "Stealing is not corruption" is a statement to drive it home that stealing should be separated from corruption with respect to the laws of the land. So that those who stole, can be tried as thieves, while other corrupt practices like given an undue advantage to a candidate in an interview should be treated as such. Mr, President has explained this! For your info, bro, I am not a member of any political party or movement! Sure, i prefer Jonathan to Buhari and I have my reasons! Yet, I have never worked for any government or political party be it local, state or federal. I have no intention of working at any government level! For you to insist I must have collected money from someone says a lot about you! i wish you well sir. |
